What watercolour paints should I pack for my residency TOMORROW?
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I'm travelling in 7 hours to an artist residency, and I haven't decided what paints I'm bringing.
This video may be somewhat unhinged.

Yaaay buff titanium 😃
Congrats on the palette!
So far, the only colour I have added is Aquarius Violet (AKA the Polish Plum), because I love it and for me, it's twinsies with Potter's Pink and shouldn't be separated. But I have some more space in the palette and I have a box of Aquarius colours that are not currently employed, so I will probably have some additions. I may add a red as well because it might be useful, but I would like to use your palette as is first until I get a feeling for it (I'm pretty much a beginner, so everything is a bit more difficult). I am thinking about adding Lavenda, because I have never used it.

Ooh I wonder if I can find my pan of Aquarius Violet quickly before I leave. I've never had it in a palette, but I can see how it would play nice with Potter's Pink.
Titanium Buff is PW6:1. And it is a very useful addition to any palette, even though I have not used it myself 😂.

@@LeeAngold No it hasn't, Ma'am. I'm the pigment police 🚓🚨; I patrol this here social media site. I can assure you that many an uploader have made this very same mistake. We're now investigating it as a crime syndicate 😂😂.
Love your choices. I'm also a PY150 fan. And I always have Prussian Blue in a palette 😊 Have fun!

PY150 + Prussian blue is dreamy :)
Watching this and I had to laugh on your first choice to add to the palette: Misty Morning!!! Definitely added this one too and Buff Titanium too. :D Those were the two places I added, but boy... do we have a similar taste! :D You have some very interesting choices and I'm very curious, how you'll use them. No worries or regret causing comments from my side. Have a great trip!

Haha great minds think alike ;)
I too am a lover of controversial colours XD I couldn't do without my titanium buff or hookers green light. OK, that's a lie, I'd get by without the green, but it's the perfect convenience shade to nudge a touch to get most, if not all, of the green shades in the grass and leaves where I live. And I paint mostly landscapes, so it's needed! And titanium buff makes for the softest mixes, it both lightens and dulls the perfect amount for what I need.

It's so wonderful when we find the perfect colours for our specific needs 😍
I only just discovered your channel 😊 Have fun in the retreat. I live on the N Shore of majestic Lake Superior❤ I looked at your website and discovered your blog entry on mixing greens. OMG, wonderful! This topic has been nagging at me for awhile. Love that you start w the magical py150. Scanning quickly thru your mixes lit my brain on fire. I will be experimenting with your suggestions on I am optimistic that I have found the answer to my quest🎉

Excellent! Glad I could be helpful
Really, someone gave you some flak over lack of reds? I would add my now time tested Pyrrole Red to complement that Phthalo Green (well, it works well with my QOR versions of those two paints). I also like the QOR Green gold, although I suspect the Autumn Green would be pretty similar. You don't have a strong violet or purple, but I suppose that is only needed if you are painting wildflower type things.

Not serous flak but it has come up...once, twice, a million times. I often omit reds. I did consider a strong violet in there. I do paint violet wildflowers occasionally... certainly more frequently than red roses ;) But I find I often prefer to mix my wildflower violets from blues and magenta. I find the mixes I make easier to manage than most violet pigments.
This is fun. :) Maybe I'd choose Urban Grey instead of the Porphyry? I love Buff Titanium and would also just go Roman Szmal wild and add Aquarius Yellow, Aquarius Violet, Aquarius Red, Aquarius Black and Aquarius Green ;) Last two I'd add would be Transparent Oxide Red and the new Cobalt Blue Light.

Interesting choices! I ended up swapping the Porphyry Violet for Monte Amiata Burnt Sienna :)
