I can answer your question about why Australia is so particular about not permitting some food and environmental material to be brought into or out of the country. All countries have these types of restrictions that unfortunately people ignore all to often because they don’t understand the seriousness of violating them. As a natural scientist I find this very frustrating and infuriating. Island nations are particularly cautious about these regulations because they have unique isolated environments, with microbiologic life populations that may not be found in other countries. Serious pathogens may be introduce into areas where no natural counter balance lifeforms have developed so these microbes are able to become epidemic very rapidly with the capacity to wipe out livestock and wildlife. We see this type of invasive species destruction all the time on the macro scale such as Australia’s own experience with cane toads and rabbits and our zebra mussels, but this threat also exists on a micro scale with perhaps even more devastation results. Please, please, please everyone respect all travel regulations even if you don’t understand why otherwise you may be the vector for massive environmental and financial loss.

Very good points and detailed explanation, thank you. A lot gets omitted and clipped in a video. Australian customs regulations are generally quite sensible, especially as an island nation far from other landmass. What didn't get across in my short quip was a more broad amusing picture of airport security theatre enforcement differences around the world, painted in a collection of anecdotes. Notably: 1. Due to security being generally concentrated at boarding, there was relatively little (comparable to any other country)

Very good points and well written. Australia's import/export regulations are completely reasonable, particularly as an isolated island nation. A lot gets lost in short KZread quips. This trip painted for me a comedic picture across various anecdotes of security theater idiosyncrasies around the world. Some highlights: 1. We boarded our first flight from Canada-US armed with a wee jar of loose leaf Valerian tea to help us sleep on the long flight. Realized in the TSA line in Toronto that travelling from Canada with an unmarked small jar of stinky dry herbs was maybe not my smartest moment. Privilege to the rescue, I guess, I walked straight up and placed my jar on the table, explaining its a different stinky herb than it looks like, the TSA agents guffawed and let me through. 2. Because security theater is mostly on the boarding side, we got surprisingly little challenge on arrival in Australia. I again presented my valerian jar, fully expecting it to be confiscated and destroyed. I got waved through. 3. However, every national flight within Australia involved a circus of confiscated apples and oranges and seashells (not ours). Even flights within the same province. 4. On the other hand, I was surprised to find Australia is the only country that doesn't check IDs at all on national flights. Handy for me, as in my valerian-stupor I had dropped my passport at Melbourne Airport. My passport went on a completely separate Australian tour of embassies and consulates, only rejoining me at the end of 3 weeks.

It has! I'm on an island away from computer so adding cards is proving a bit tricky, but individual sketches in this book feature in several past videos

Wonderful tour! Love the insights and I swear I saw some of those pieces being painted on stream or in videos years ago. I'm also a bit inspired to paint more on the go now. :)

I'm interested in info about using water media in hot humid climates, as I still entertain the idea of living some or even all of my 'last lap of the track' in that type of climate. Using, storing, whatever else may be a concern.

I only have a tiny bit of experience to share, we only spent a week in the rainforest in 2019, and since then it has become increasingly clear my body reacts extremely poorly to high heat and humidity - I may need to make the opposite move on a longer term basis. My tiny bit of experience says avoid honey based watercolours, they'll run everywhere. Keep unused paper sealed up tight with dessicants to avoid surface degradation. Be very VERY patient with layers.
