The “Old King” Mushroom reports Alicent as having an affair with is King Jaehaerys, not King Viserys. Alicent read books and sung songs to Jaehaerys on his deathbed and Mushroom claimed she also did sexual favors for him. I think it’s just Mushroom being salacious and scandalous

Yeah no. The Hightowers are counted as one of the Great Houses even though they are Vassals to House Tyrell. They can field a large army all on their own and are one of the wealthiest houses. By your logic even the Velaryons would be reaching above themselves. Marriage politics aren't as rigid as only a Lord Paramount or Warden's daughter is allowed to marry into the Royal family. There already was a Hightower Queen as well as a Harroway Queen, a Westerling Queen and even a Costayne Queen, the daughter of a Hightower Vassal but that was more because of her fertility. Also she is still the niece of the Lord of Oldtown she isn't worthless on the marriage market. Yes the match was ambitious but not out of this world. What would truly be out of station would be a Landed Knight's daughter marrying the King or let's say some irrelevant petty Lord with three sheep. But Alicent was the Niece of the Lord of Oldtown, her father was the most senior adviser. Her family had close ties to the Lords of the Arbor, one of the largest fleets in the realm and she had multiple cousins who were part of the Most Devout if I remember correctly which means one of them could potentially be the next High Sepron. The fact that she is the Lord of Oldtown's niece instead of daughter is neither here nor there in the relevance of her station

Alicent was 18 years old when she married, just as shown in the show. However what the show changed from the book was Rhaenyra's age, in the books she was 9 years younger than Alicent so she would have been 9 when her father remarried.

The books are basically the historical accounts by various second hand sources, long after anyone involved had passed. This includes rumors, speculations, and a lot of bias. If what happened in the show also happened in the books than Laenors death being faked was never discovered.

I really wished that Rhaenerys and Laenor would've been able to have child together. That true Velaryon blood👏🏻😢

The book Fire and Blood leaves the issue of her children's parentage in question. They did have brown hair, and there were many rumors that they were bastards. But Laenor in the book Fire and Blood was not mixed race and he had Baratheon blood in his heritage, which as everyone watching Game of Thrones remembers was supposed to give preeminence to dark hair. So it was a rumor spread widely by the Hightowers that may have been true in the books, but was made a fact in the show.

The king was just about 27 when he married the 18 year old. I mean he's not even middle aged. But really whose shocked he didn't marry the girl barely older than his daughter? I mean he did bed aemma when she was probably 11 or 12 when he was 15 or 16.

The Velaryons and Daemon are the worstttttttttt

But your daughter was only 89 years. Old though the service was about 3 times her age.
