I was the quiet kid. There was this time where one kid just suddenly brought up the difference between a masochist and a sadist. He was acting like he was super smart but he'd actually got the two mixed up. I was this close to correcting him before I realized how concerning that would sound from me.

You did good by not correcting him. In one of my classes (around age 13), a teacher asked us if we knew what s&m was; Rhianna's song had been released back then. A kid got it wrong and I raised my hand to answer. Not satisfied with just getting the answer to a question that she asked, the dumb b*tch of a teacher asked me "how do you know that?" with an odd look on her face; as if she wasn't about to talk to us about it. She essentially embarrassed me infront of the whole class by making me seem like a weirdo for knowing what s&m was. It didn't help that I had no friends in that class.

This reminded me of a forgotten memory. I used to be the quiet kid. Gym class in middle school, bully yells "you suck!" while playing volleyball. I scream at him about how I've never played before and how there's a learning curve and just because he's had the opportunity to learn doesn't mean we've all had that yet. Can't remember the exact words but the teacher didn't intervene and eventually the guy is apologizing. Hs was surprisingly patient/wholesome after that.

Coincidentally, both of my stories happened in the same class in the same year in 8th grade. My teacher often did “circle talks” or whatever, where everyone would sit in a circle and answer a set question the teacher had pre-picked. However, sometimes after she had asked all of her questions, she would let the students ask questions. This one kid in the back of the room, who has hardly said a word and slept half the class, raised his hand, and the teacher called on him. Very calmly, he asks, “How many times have you opened an incognito window?” It took the class a few seconds, but eventually we were all laughing our butts off. I’m pretty sure the only person who didn’t understand was the teacher. Literally nobody answered the question seriously. The second story took place on the last day of the school year. We were having another circle talk or whatever my teacher called it, and the question was something along the lines of “What was the best thing to happen to you this year?” This one girl, who again has hardly said a word and has literally only been to school for around half the year, got the talking piece and said, “My dad got arrested.” She proceeded to pass the talking piece on with no further explanation. I don’t think I’ve seen her since that.

I'm not entirely the quiet kid, but I'm often times silent. I'm typically the one who's constantly quiet, who will occasionally say something really out of character and out of nowhere. So, one day, the conversation was about something along the lines of attentive listening and since there are two dudes in my class who are REALLY annoying, at some point I recall saying "oh, we're doing attentive listening? Maybe that could be useful for some people in this class" and I heard a few people laugh from it.

I think because we usually do not complain about anything or talk that much there is a certain mystery in our behavior which ultimately end up in some sort of respect. A part from that we do not like to talk that much therefore the only circumstances we talk is when we now we have some sort of genius shit in our head. At least that were my experiences... In school I used to be the quiet kid (maybe more like the weird nerdy shy kid but anyways) but I knew I would get bullied the fuck out of me if I kept being weird in highschool, so I decided to just act even weirder and base my whole personality on that (basically making fun of myself so others can't). In some backwards kind of way it worked and by the end of the second year of highschool I was friends with almost the whole class. Later I just started to act more normally but even now I make friends easily, and have been able to find people that share my geeky interests. Thinking back about how I acted, it most definitely was cringe, but becoming the weird kid that everyone likes is much better than getting bullied and insulted every day.

That was back in upper-elementary and middleschool, when the school curriculum was at an all-time low and when I hated learning. I someone managed to gain the general respect of all the girls and half the boys in upper-el, but by the time middleschool came around my strategy failed me and I just became the slightly tolerable psycho. People kind of liked my art and the teachers liked me but that was about it. Now I just. Exist and doodle and somehow gain an extra friend?? Even though I LIKE being disliked now?????? idk man, shit's weird. (My highschool is very accepting and full of geeks and art nerds like me)

I used to have this one friend in middle school. For some reason I have long since forgotten, she could not say ‘no’ to people. I was not the most quiet in the class, but people knew I didn’t like talking, and when I did talk, it was for a very good reason. Anyway, my friend and I were in this history class together. We were working on some class project. Well, I hear some kids behind me trying to talk her into going to a party so that they could make her pay for everything and dump her. Before she could even answer, I slammed my hands on the table, whirled around, and proceeded to hollar at the kids, even ratting them out on previous occasions of doing this. The whole class goes dead silent. Everytime that one kid tried to open his mouth to defend himself, I’d just inch closer to him, and continue my rage. This proceeds for the next ten or so minutes before I finally sat down. The class ended shortly after. I ended up going to the teacher to appologize for doing that in class, but the teacher just looked at me stunned. I don’t remember her words, but whatever they were, she was not angry at me for what I did.

Story #28 just makes me sad. The girls I personally knew in high school who were "sluts" all had some fairly serious trauma in their backgrounds. TRIGGER WARNING Childhood sexual abuse, rape, and parental neglect or abandonment were common themes. I knew one who had kind of a "slutty period" who had survived SA at the hands of a relative as a tween ....only half her family believed her, which tore the extended family apart. Like many SA survivors, she got no therapy at all, and tried dating and having sex with someone else as a failed means of regaining control over her own body and normalizing what had happened to her. She went on to quietly date a slightly older and very slutty guy who introduced her to smoking and drinking, and then got her pregnant at a young age. And split. He was older and not from her town. One of her parents had already died by then. The other responded in horror and peer pressured a secret abortion on her....then put her on the pill to make sure it wouldn't repeat and just went back to ignoring her. That was it. All before she was 15. Now imagine a new person is interested in her. She hopes this will finally be the person who loves her. He says sweet things to her, but when they have the chance they make out, he pushes for sex right away, and after all the trauma, she doesn't know how to say no or have boundaries, and just tries to be the most fun she can be, hoping to keep his attention. The next day, he brags about the whole thing in the cafeteria, To the disgust of his friends. He has no intention of staying with her. He used her. She is given no privacy, courtesy or respect. She inspires disgust. And finally even he has to laugh when someone compares her to a gross sandwich. Imagine if all that happened to someone you're related to, who you love. That's not ok

She then walked away to a different group and ended up talking really nice to them with a entire different side of her I had never seen. Let’s call the victims of the rumors CB for the girl and AB for the boy. CB starts talking smack to me, and I zone it out as usual. She stops, but I have nothing to say, so I pretend I didn’t hear it and say “Sorry, I don’t speak trash” and everyone just stared at us, waiting for her response. She starts mumbling something that everybody heard as “You speak French” and I, respond with “If anyone speaks French in here, it’s you because you’re speaking the love language with AB”. She didn’t say a word and everyone thought for the rest of the year that the rumors were true, since she never spoke out against them. She left over summer. Let me remind you this is 6th grade, everyone saw me as the quiet kid, and that I single handedly silenced a rumor. I became a legend in the school.

1:04 I am so glad that nobody at my school has this response when someone asks the time. I learned a while back that some kids have a time insecurity (yes, this is a real thing), and if someone doesn't tell them what time it is, then they feel unloved. It's more complex and deeply rooted than that, but teachers should be able to tell students the time. Thankfully, at my school there were clocks on the walls and I have had a watch since 6th grade, so whenever someone asked me the time I always made sure to reciprocate with whatever my watch said. (Whew, that was a tongue twister!)

I was the quiet and the weird kid. Never really had a surprisingly good burn or something cool to say and me dissociating sometimes made me do things I didn’t remember or only remembered months later. I do vaguely remember, however, once opening a biology book and seeing a picture of a woman giving birth. It was taken from the front in a way the baby’s head covered the vabween. I was very intrigued by this so me, the smartass, was staring at it closely and intently. I don’t even remember why, probably thinking about how terrifying the idea of giving birth is and amazed that that baby’s head fit all the way through suck a small opening. Well guess what, I happened to be sitting next to the most popular kid (at least I think he was). He noticed what I was looking at and was like “ew why are you looking at that”. And then he yelled through the entire classroom that I was looking at a woman giving birth. Asked if I was into it and stuff. Idk what was going on with me and why I dissociated so much and did things I wouldn’t remember, maybe it had to do with me being bullied and just couldn’t emotionally handle being at school otherwise. I think I kinda grew out of that or I have more control over it idk, I don’t really understand it. I’d always kind of forget that I existed and the world around me or that the world around me didn’t exist. Or I somehow believed that I was in my room.

its the quiet ones you gotta look out for. silently observing. I did something similar to the #8 story. im a pretty shy and quiet person and was in Art class trying to do my project and one of the girls in my grade was in the class was being loud and I turned to her and asked her nicely to please be quiet im trying to work. she got snippy with me and the teacher Mr. Bacon yelled at her shut up.

It was the summer after jr high. She was a scrawny emo kid from Vietnam that barely said anything other than short responses like “ok” “sure” “yeah” “mhm” etc. I was jogging at a local park so i can get in shape before trying out for high school sports. In my peripheral vision I spotted her sitting at a bench playing guitar and singing “Roslyn” by Bon Iver. She had a sweet and angelic singing voice and it made me smile. I didn’t interrupt her nor attempted to get to know her after that because i knew she was moving out of state anyway. I just hope she’s doing good in life.

I wasn't really known as the quiet kid but I wasn't really social either I mostly kept to myself (besides at lunch when I would hang out with my friends) anyway in English class there would always be a prompt on the white board for us to write about before class started and one day the prompt said "what do you think the future will be like?" As soon as I read that prompt I pulled out my notebook and started to write. When class started the teacher would call on kids who would want to share what they wrote all the other kids wrote about the future being this advanced robotic futuristic place of course each story was different but they all had the same idea eventually I was called on to share so I read it aloud but instead of it being futuristic my version of the future was about how the world would be nuked and everything on earth was dead with mutated animals and people roaming the desolated planet after I was done reading, the classroom got dead silent for a minute before the teacher said "well- that was new-" and he then proceeded to continue class like normal I still look back on that day fondly XD

This year (I'm 14) people in my english class were annoying me with my crush that had friendzoned me a week before. Everybody was talking and someone said: Do you think she likes you? And I just stood up, looked at him in the eyes and yelled NO. The teacher looked at me and said jokingly: Wow! This guy can talk? Awkward silence and the class went on

Few months ago a girl in my music class was being very annoying, always telling me mistakes I did even when I didn’t do any and each time she would tell me to write them on the music sheets, except I like to keep my sheets clean and practise myself to be better in the long run rather than do quick corrections, but she’s a narcissist and wouldn’t accept any explaining since she wanted to be right. One time, I looked at her in the eyes (I don’t look at people in the eyes much) and I explained my full plan on how not writing my mistakes would help me become mulch better in the future and how I had already planned everything and didn’t need her words and I don’t know why, but with only that, I shut her up and she started annoying different people instead of just me after! Feels good hearing others complain about her

So, im that one quiet kid in class and i still am, but now i have a story. So it was just a regular school day and i was in 5th-6th grade and it was at the end of gym class. When i was about to leave the dressing room to hurry to my classroom, some other classmates asked questions about what their issue is with the other classmates(Which was basically what they hate or dislike about the others),and they were obviously in a friendgroup. Then i just hear that one of them say that the only issue that they had about me is that i was way to quiet.. I still dont know how to feel about this 🙂

I was a quiet kid back in High School and this one was the most memorable one as it has to do with a substitute teacher . So this Sophomore year and during English class we had a substitute teacher and she was trying to quite the class down to give instructions she tried twice but they wouldn’t stop talking so me being not only the quietest kid in that class but the shortest by USA standards I yelled “ Shut Up “ !!! to the entire class and I kid you not everyone looked at me and started laughing even the teacher was shocked however one classmate said “ For such a quiet kid you sure are loud “ .

I never realized I was the quiet kid, but in 10th grade, one of the students said something to me like, "it's always the quiet kids you have to look out for." I was stunned and looked around, and I just shrugged and said, "well, maybe." And the class went silent for a long moment. So then I said something like, "I've done some things before." There was more silence, and I thought about explaining a little farther because it came out a bit more ominous than I meant it, but... you know what, no, I don't want to explain, actually. There's some things that are just for me to know and nobody else.

My class's quiet kid asked to go to the bathroom. Teacher says no. Quiet kid says she really needs to go. Teacher refuses. Quiet kid pulls out an actual loaded pistol on the teacher. Class goes into a full panic. This absolute menace just put the gun away and walked out the room to go to the bathroom. Police get called, the girl gets arrested, yada yada.. Turns out the quiet kid was on her period and really did have to go, but I guess she didn't feel like announcing that to the whole class in front of a female teacher who should have known better. She made history in that school
