we all know Whitty wasn't the first ever created mod, he was the first character mod to actually have his own content which is why we just say he's the first mod. Edit: B-Sides was the first REMIX mod, Vs Whitty was a standalone mod, meaning: he wasn't a reskin and his songs were not another version of an already made song

My guess was actually going to be B-sides. That mod came really early in FNF’s history, and for many people it was a good introduction to playing more difficult charts.

FNF has reached a point where mods are so simple to make that everyone can make one, so now is more difficult to find high efforts mods aside from big teams. Before FNF was that popular, modding used to require at least programming for it to not be a simple re-skin that looked horrible because the offsets weren't set correctly.

When Vs. Whitty came out, fnf started to appeal to those who like a challenge. Like, a brain-meltingly hard one. so began the 'renaissance' of fnf mods, two of the largest made by the same creator, Banbuds. One of those two re-ignited the fandom/community behind Madness Combat (Vs. Tricky), and the other one reminded all of the nostalgia of old pokemon creepypastas we probably read or listened to, way too late at night for our own good. Of course, both of them were mind-numbingly difficult. Tricky's was super fast, and hypno's had a mechanic. people began to look at fnf as a way to give extra life to that one thing they wanted more conversations about. That one OC that needed a spark to flesh it out. That next challenge to break your fingers. Admit it, you've noticed it too; FNF has changed, revamped, or altogether *created* communities by doing what it does best: Allowing a community to build itself. FNF acts like a tool for you to do exactly that. Of course, the game also spurs LOADS of drama all the time, which, while morally awful, also generates lots of discussion around it constantly, keeping it clinging to relevancy all the while longer. That, plus the fact that music often can have more replayability than some games do, means FNF stays alive even *longer* too. Music is special. It has something to it that feels like a million words despite not having a single one. When you put something you value (An original character, your favorite game character, or even yourself) into the form of music, you give it life in a way that is, simply put, unrivaled. You immortalize it. I could say more, but i think i've made my point clear: FNF Is a great game and, for all intents and purposes, is a community defibrilator.

I was one of the first people to be a fan of FNF (when there were only 2 weeks in the game), and one of the first mods i ever saw was a christmas reskin, and a carol mod, which is a girlfriend reskin. Its very crazy to believe on how far modding has gone.

Wow, it's simple, but the simplicity of the mod and the charm of the artstyle really makes this good. I'm a bit sad that I can't even something as simple as that. I don't own a computer, I'm a decent artist but I'm not that good with complicated poses, and I know nothing about coding. I saw people complaining that there aren't many good mods now in this comment section. Well I think that's not true, but if people gave me a chance and helped me, I would do my best to make great mods. But I can't. A few people accepted to help me but they're all busy with their own projects. And it sucks because my first mod has almost all of the assets ready. It just lacks a freeplay song and putting everything together.

And most of my ideas are so much more ambitious than just that. I have a friend who could help but since he's a good coder, everyone asks for his help and he's always busy helping someone else.

Whitty is not the first mod to ever enter the GameBanana, but it is the first full mod to jumpstart the legacy.

I never knew about that, the only thing i knew was: The first - whitty second - hex third - tricky demo and all of these were demos. so yeah. nice to hear that there was a mod before that!

As far as I know, the first mod was made on the same day that week 2 came out, being only a boyfriend reskin, changing it to skid and pump

I found out about fnf in November 2020 with a gameplay of week 2,it’s incredible how things have changed in 2 years

Not really relating to the first fnf mod, but i might know what one of the first mods to use psych engine was. I might be wrong, but one of the first mods to use psych was, i believe No Hero Mid or High effort. This slightly blew up, so this mod actually saw the fnf community. The real first might be in the depths of gamebanana.

I checked the dates and it is actually no hero, which came a month before mind games.

The way how the first mode simply made new sprites over an existing character was how I originally believed was the ONLY way a game could be modded. I was blown away when I saw how these mods evolved into entirely new games. I had no idea that was even possible! And seeing Mario 64 in Minecraft, why isn't this a trend for more games?

My thoughts: First mod concept and first original alteration of the game - seen in the video First cover/song + skin mod - sans over week 2 (or Overhead over Dadbattle but i'm fairly sure sans came first) First new full week - Whitty

Whitty may or may not have been the first, but it was the mod that started it all

I was already aware that Whitty isn’t the first. He was, however, the first hard mod with a backstory. Honestly I thought that the original d-sides, or c-sides, whatever mods were first but I know that isn’t true

Whitty was The First Mod to Have his Own standalone character with his own songs, which is why he is the first standalone mod, rather than a simple remix of the already existing songs, and Tricky was the first mod to be based off of an entirely different series (Madness Combat).

It’s probably B-sides or Carol. Witty was just the first one to get extremely popular.

Week 2 is the first fnf mod ever, made by the same team as the original game, featuring 2 characters, instead of 1, from Sr Pelo's famous Spooky Month Series, Skid and Pump. Sadly, it only contained 2½ songs

I throught the first mod was the B-Side mod tbh. Also, i actually never heard people say Whitty is the first mod yet but i already knew that Whitty was the first character mod with its own songs, while B-Side has remixes but i actually didnt throught that reskins counted under mods tbh which is why i throught that B-Side was the first mod

I remember these - I tried to make a mod before a while before Whitty was released.

I’d say the idle animation could use a rework, but the other animations were beautiful, bravo Soda.

I thought the first one was Ayana(Ex-GF). I read somewhere once that it came before Whitty lol.

I was kinda into the game when it first came out but didn't really take it seriously (Would watch videos about it here and there) My brother got me more glued to the game after showing me week 3 or 4 (At the time, whichever week had just come out) I'm pretty sure the first mod I was introduced to was Whitty or Hex for sure, leaning more toward Hex (Suggested by a friend and first mod I was forced to play by that same friend. That was also my first time ever playing the game, hadn't played the base game prior to that) but when I got more and more into the game the first mod I voluntarily saw on my own was either Tricky or Garcello (leaning more toward Garcello I think) (Not related but I remember going to Walmart and seeing a kid who was watching the Garcello mod and it just made me smile to see the game out in public like that lol, to just see that there really are fans of the game out there ya know? I'm so mad I didn't approach him, could've made a new friend that day.. If only I could go back..*sigh*) Anyways, I have the same situation as you where my brother doesn't really like the game anymore like that and it's just so frustrating to see him go like that because I remember how into the game he was, it was so fun for the both of us back then (He'll still check out any updates that may come like when week 7 dropped he was so in love with "Ugh") And tbh, I think he kinda lost interest when I became more interested in the game because it was no longer something that HE could enjoy, like it was no longer his thing ya know? Which is like bruh.. I hate when siblings are like that.. It is what it is unfortunately. Sorry for this long ass essay lmao! Have a strong passion for this game! It was the first rhythm game I've played to actually get me interested in and trying to get better at and enjoy so much!!

fun fact: whitty started out as a skin for the dad with only overhead as a song
