The good news is that 343 is completely different now thanks to the shakeup in leadership. I've been hearing that they have several projects in the works, so time will tell if they can truly deliver. Let's hope they can because Halo deserves better!

Tbh, I think Halo has become a niche brand. A quick look at how many subscribers Halo has on KZread vs Call of Duty, etc. shows today’s gamers either moved on or never grew up loving Halo. It’d take something massive to get their attention. Idk if spinoff games do that.

I remember hearing the same. And while recent updates for Infinite have been a bit lackluster, the new leadership has pushed the game to a place where it is a solid game now. The lack of seasons for Infinite could also be a sign on 343 diverting resources to these new projects.

They think many of these ideas should be greenlit and completed and that it was just Bonnie Ross and other execs saying "no" out of stubborness. This reminds me of the EA Starwars debacle, EA made three games with the exclusive Starwars license. Battlefront 1&2 and let’s not forget how battle front two was the tree trunk that obliterated the camels back when it came to loot boxes. And then Fallen order, a game that EA was accused of actively trying to sabotage as it don’t fit their single play games are dead narrative.

EAs exclusively deal was BS but at least there were stipulations in place where as soon as the time was up, there were opportunities for other companies to make titles in the universe. 343 and Microsoft literally just do not care about their fanbase, they hear our pleas and are concerns yet they still don’t care about the quantity or quality of the products they put out

Some of the best work 343 has done is in the expansion of halo's universe. I feel they could find immense success in capitalizing off a game involving, for example, something like the headhunters with maybe a game where you kill covies to gain credits to buy things like better weapons, upgrades for armor, and ammo. A game like that could be incredibly successful and its a shame how little diversity we've gotten in the games, hell we havent even seen an odst in a campaign since reach (excluding hw2), we need more lmao.

Honestly a cool halo game idea would definitely be a flood horror type game where you’re playing as a marine or ODST. Ive seen that idea thrown around social media before. It could mainly be a single player game, but have a multiplayer aspect and im looking at dead space 2 when i say this. Would be too good

Its definitely Frank and Kiki having their heads so far up their asses to make anything other than mainline halo games. As well as Microsoft seeing as Halo as a poor I vestment cause Infinite didn't make the long lasting numbers they expected.

Thats kinda how it is, 343 working on the main games and certain affinity working on spin offs like hw2... at least that how it used to be, now it sounds like theyre both working on the next title together which... take it how you want it. I personally loved halo wars two and i thought it really felt like halo, i cant wait to see what they do working cooperatively

ODSTs isn’t even the only path they have either. ODST is my 2nd request, but my main request is something somewhat new, that being a Headhunter game. It’s one of the more underdeveloped parts of the modern (in universe modern) Halo lore

So many ideas that would have been amazing, and all we got were 2 mainlines and 1 Halo Wars sequel. Halo needs to be passed off to other studios to create spinoffs, especially for an ODST Helldivers and how great that would be.

@@prabhjotdhesi4015 Yeah. 4 and 5 had issues, sure, but most complaints with 4 boil down to personal nitpicks, Halo 5's are the microtransactions obviously, but MCC nearly made a new Golden Age of Halo in 2019 through 2021 and if it weren't for Bonnie Ross ruining Infinite, we would be in that Golden Age right now.

They use the excuse of not having the things that made Halo, Halo, but they do, those players just don't want to admit it, because it doesn't fit their personal preferences. What makes Halo Infinite different from 4 and 5 is that nothing of substance was fixed to run like a Halo game, it's horrendously buggy, it's sandbox is mid as fuck, it's vehicles are a joke and it relies solely on forgers to make maps now instead of a mix between forge maps and dev maps, it's pathetic really.

the executives are thinking how they can put more money in their pockets. That's it

having more pitches than finished products is not news, that said 343 should have released 2-3 smaller Halo titles in between the mainline ones while new tech is developed, and as a proving ground for new talent. All the large successful studios operate this way, look at FromSoft, they alternate between one groundbreaking original title and one franchise entry they can re-use a lot of assets for, cutting down on development time, development costs, and training employees within the company.

I'm certain cost-benefit analysis were performed with those pitches. Xbox division & 343i probably weren't in the best position (during the XB1 era) to greenlit and fund multiple (unproven) projects. Undertaking side-projects and spinoff would have also affected the mainline series; which the community already lambasted for the 4-6 years dev time.

To be honest, its better for fans now to be in charge of modern IPs. Big corperate companies sadly just fall to greed way too easily now. Look what happened to star wars, Halo, Lotr, blizzard. Its always now a 50/50 on wether or not a game is good or not. And even if it is good theres another 80% chance itll just be filled with microtransactions and stupid battle passes

20-30 GODDAMN GAMES? What the hell? Man, the incompetence is insane, Halo could've been the next Warhammer 40k with it's massive universe and lore, but instead 343 neglected the franchise to just their base game, what a waste of an IP...

We could have had a game where our own spartan drops in by drop pod or by pelican (landing then exiting/jumping out of it) fighting the banished on either a halo or a colony planet. I could also see you being able to play as an Elite too as they should join the cause!

What happened to that certain affinity game mode they were making for Halo infinite? Tatanka or something like that was the name.

Tatanka development was stopped around Nov-Dec 2022. I believe CA is helping 343 with the next Halo game on unreal engine, and I believe they're bringing Tatanka to that Halo game.

I know certain affinity was working on transformers rise before it was switched to splash damage and renamed transformers reactivate. So If certain affinity has time now then why not give tatanka to Halo infinite?

I would imagine most of 343 are likely working on Halo 7, but they could hire additional forces to work on spinoff games, like they did with the halo wars games.

343 as a company is a tragedy because you really can tell that the people who actually made (halo infinite at least) really did want to make a good halo game. Almost everything thats wrong with modern halo can be traced back to horrible leadership by people who are only in that position because they’re buddy-buddies with the big corpo names

Bro we've been asking for a tv show series, movie for like almost 20 years now and look what happened.

Helldivers is cool but make no mistake it's just the thing right now, just like Pal world was a couple weeks ago. Somthing else will come along and Helldivers will fade. We're just in a weird era right now where a game will come out and be the hot shit for a few weeks and then somthing else will

I want one that I play as a Brute when ther home world was destroyed and we join the Banished, or a game that we play as an Elite that's part of the Sword of (there home world name that I forgot) or they are part of the Banished as well. Another ODST game would be cool, as well as a flood horror game that you play as an UNSC Marine or Banished troop during the events for HW2 DLC

Been in gamedev for almost 30 years. Probably pitched well over a hundred games. There are thousands of - kavin reasons they don’t get made. It’s rarely corpo greed or some other nefarious reason. I find it’s a lot about timing. - kavin A follow-up from kavin about that

If they’re going to do another main light in halo game, they should at least just try and make a new campaign not a new multiplayer for the mainline games. They should try and expand two other games like if it’s a hell diverse like game, they should have ODST’s go against a flood outbreak. If they want to do a third person shooter, maybe they should have a game where you play as a marine and have the coalition help out with that. They could have a ship battle simulator.

I think it'd have to be done by an independent studio who's simply got licensing rights and access to 343/Microsoft resources much like how Obsidian Entertainment had with Bethesda when making Fallout New Vegas. I wouldn't let 343 near anything after the failure of literally all of their projects they've worked on... every single launch of their games has come with a mountain of issues that they've slowly fixed over the lifespan of each game and it's not good enough.

There is the thing people have to remember, even with as much money as Microsoft has a game is a huge investment, and taking risks isnt a big thing many AAA studios have been doin lately because they are worried of a flop cuz it’d mean a substantial profit loss But honestly it’s not unsurprising to see that number of game pitches declined, probably was even more in that span, also look how long the most recent games were in development for But i do think that they should see that people want spinnoffs to become a recurrence again Halo has INFINITE POSSIBILITIES, i think most of what they need to be working on, is more singleplayer stuff, i think if they focus on one “definitive” mp experience they can use that as their “cash cow” as long as the gameplay is good and allows us to get more n more interesting stories from the halo universe and stuff A l4d style flood game would work and be interesting could have it be civilians and maybe a marine so it has a different tone But yeah here’s hoping we get more stuff they could milk halo with spinoffs n ppl would probably be 100% okay with that

The more and more we learn, it’s like the old 343 was a farce of a company, like just an idea to shovel money at more than an actual studio. It possibly and most likely still is, but come on! Pump out some Halo games, even if some suck, at the point just having some variety is better than where we are at. Give us a stealth ODST, halo wars 3, an extraction based shooter on the spirit of fire, helldivers/EDF odst based game, shit anything man. 343 either needs to lend the İP out or pump out some games

In just over year and a half, I've grown completely jaded with Halo infinite and 343. This is the reason why, I know 343 and Xbox don't want to do anything worthwhile with the franchise, big or small. I don't believe "new leadership" can fix anything.

Go to Paradox, push the IP across the table and they’d have a Stellaris spin off out in a year.

Seeing all that exciting helldivers 2 action really makes me wish 343 hadn’t neglected ODST’s. Imagine experiencing the “We are odst” trailer as an actual game. Be it Covenant, banished, even flood. A game like helldivers 2 proves the success in fighting unique hordes on multiple fronts.

Who's to say 343 new management won't revisit previous game ideas hopefully. What ever is happening in studio we need to know I would rather they just come out and say what they are working on. We need a rode map for games to expect and also for halo infinite updates as fans it feels like the future is bright but we are blind as to whats next we need to know what's happening so we can support the studio. Personally I think although halo has been through a rough 10+ years the market is wide open as there isn't as many games competing as there once was mw3 disaster battlefield2042 launched rough if 343 put there heads down and get the next game done quick we can move on from infinite hopefully getting players back and there may not be many contenders.

I would much rather have quality Halo games over a quantity of Halo games. I just want a Halo game that takes the best of every game and implements it into one game in a meaningful way, that isn't riddled with micro transactions or bugs.

I'm shaking my head when this guy says 343 is an entirely new company now, I've heard that line so many times and I can't remember a single time or a change in CEO led to significant change in a company. I've said this before and I'll say it again modern-day game companies have given up on creating media to earn profit, their only focus is on monetizing existing media to siphon money out of already existing customer bases. Doing anything else looks too risky on a quarterly earnings sheet. What does basically means is that as long as 343 can get away with farming Halo infinite microtransaction economy they won't bother with another game. More than likely, technology will need to become advanced enough to wear Halo infinite looks too outdated to continue to sell before they even consider making another game.

A new ODST game would be so sick. Would love to play as the rookie or Buck again.

Because I'm still feeling a little grateful and hopeful that out of all the troubles the past few years, we got new management which means new directions I guess. See, the reason why I want a proper mainline game or whatever to be established first is so all the spin-offs will spin off from that. Like what if we got this Helldivers(Helljumpers?) thing and a chunk of assets and aesthetics stemmed from Halo 4 or 5 instead of something like Infinite? In this view, I cannot really be that frustrated or emotional about the whole thing, it is a missed opportunity and all but it would have been made by the old team and management and they seem to have a radically opposing look on how Halo should be considering the games they had put out. Just my views...

yea kinda unfortunate that these ideas were shut down at the time. wether people like it or not, 343 and microsoft are still a buissisness, meaning they have to make money somehow. so that’s why i find it so interesting that pitches like these went unanswered. i REALLY hope that in the future, the new people at 343 are more open to ideas like these. In the end, we can only wait and see what happens from here. while that’s happening, i’ll be playing halo and waiting for helldivers to come to xbox.

The idea is good… but 343 has never had the talent to pull it off. Copy/Pasting the traditional Halo Formula into a polished game with Forge complete at launch was also a great idea… but it’s too much to ask from 343. If they were tasked to completely redesign the gameplay formula… it probably would have turned out like RedFall & irrevocably damaged Xbox’s flagship IP.

I know this is a game. Okay. Question? Have any of the developers ever shot a real gun? I mean come on. If you go out into the real world and maybe shoot a real gun with supervision. You would develop some awesome weapons. That do not suck. Sorry, I hate two of the weapons cause they just suck. I shoot and helps when playing games. You say 'What was 343 thinking' despite it being 343 that pitched the ideas to Microsoft and Microsoft said 'fuck off'. You kind of make it sound like its 343s fault when the majority of the blame should go to the cats in Microsoft.

It could be because of the old leadership, and then being extremely sensitive (or woke) but in my noticing, it seems like the old, 343 and possibly the new 343 are scared to death to make Halo into a war or military game. They seemed like they were trying their hardest to make it seem more like a superhero game. Spartan this, spartan that, they wanted to make it like the Spartans are superheroes. And I know the Lord definitely says Spartans are basically superheroes, but that’s not what I mean, I mean, they’re trying to chase the broader, marvel, demographic, and it’s not worked at all. Even look at the intro. Cut scene to Halo five, tell me that’s not a complete and blatant marble rip off. It felt more like the avengers, jumping out of the ship than actual Spartans. And on another note, it bothers the heck out of me how they made all the Spartans hyper lethal.
