What Was I Made For (but it's a Jazz Ballad)

New Billie song u know what that means!!
I actually haven't seen barbie yet but I will on Tuesday I think
Now I SAY jazz.... I've been seeing a lot of really amazing jazz recently and the truth is I wish I knew more about interesting chords, so this feels pretty basic compared to the real good stuff but I had a fun time making the instrumental for this so here you go.
Those are some high notes!! I've been doing so much stuff in my lower range so this was a good challenge. Also I was rlly feeling the lyrics during this take haha. And what is an instrumental break if not a moment for the vocalist to ponder?
Sorry it's been a MONTH I really have been wanting to post consistently - what I will say though is that I have a few covers and originals almost almost done that I just need to do some videos/final things on, so more vids in August.
NEW MIC ALERT
I'm renting it..... but it's so good compared to the shuremv5 (sorry). I feel like I have an emotional attachment to the shuremv5 just cause I made my first 2 years of covers with it.
I'm looking for jazz albums to download and listen to on my commutes. I've been enjoying Chet Baker Sings and Bill Evans/Tony Bennet stuff and also Ella/Louis stuff but I'm always looking for recommendations esp. for vocal jazz so if yall have any lmk!!

To be realistic, I don't know how to explain the sensation that your voice can produce. It's calming I guess, it's such a soft voice, keep it up 👌

Easy to tear with her angelic voice isn't it! She brings a song to a level above!
Rarely few things elicit such emotions out of me. Your voice is one of those few things. It's so hauntingly beautiful. When I'm on my deathbed reminiscing my life, I want to hear your voice run through the background. Thank you for another amazing song. @Lucy Ellis

Extra suggestions re jazz icons. Add Aretha Franklin as an artist and the following beautiful melodies. "Little Girl Blue", "On Green Dolphin Street", "Every time I say goodbye", "I wish I knew", "To love somebody", "A Foggy Day", "Don't get around much anymore", "Who can I turn to", "You're all I need to get bye", "Where or when", "There writing songs of love (but not for me)", "You light up my life", "Walk on by", "Sorry seems to be the hardest word", "A day in the life of a fool", "Mr Bojangles", "Just the way you are", "Day by day", "Until you come back to me", and many others. Keep up your inspiring pursuits with this jazz interest, and for following your dreams when and where they emerge!
Another lovely cover! A delayed comment about your mention of jazz albums and classic standards challenged me to chase up an enjoyable exercise of checking out Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, Diana Krall, Nat King Cole, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, as well as Ella Fitzgerald. A pleasant thing to do in a KZread search and bringing back memories and remembering wonderful standards, judged by myself (subject to your similar appeal and agreement) as very well suited to your talents, style and performances. Examples are "Little Girl Blue", " Mr Bojangles", "Undecided", "And I love her", "Send in the clowns", "On green dolphin street", "Walk on Bye", "Just the way you are", "Sorry seems to be the hardest word", "Day by Day", "Where or when", 'Don't get around much any more", "To love somebody", "Take me to the water", "Dream a little dream of me", "Every time I say goodbye" and many others. Hope this helps!
You deserve much more recognition, amazing as usual !
the chords are so cool omg, always a pleasure to listen to your instrumentals, and your voice fits perfectlfy 😌
I love that even your covers are so creative and original! Always love seeing that you posted 💛
I am happy that i took the time to watch your videos again. It's always an amazing experience and your voice is just so indescribably soothing
I usually keep songs in a playlist to hear them later, but you grabbed me and didn't let me go. Great work!
Love this beautiful cover! Can't wait to listen to your original songs!
Mesmerizing and such a unique delivery. Gorgeous ❤
Beautiful, as always. You have such a great tonality to your voice - so ethereal. It's been enjoyable watching your channel grow these past few years. Thank you.
I felt it, as much as you did, thank you Lucy!!
How beautiful it sounds! How perfectly you hit high notes!
Simply beautiful. Giving strong Dianna Krall and Holly Cole vibes. Love the new mic too. Much more crisp. YT should have a 'LOVE IT' button.

Oh my goodness you have such a pure, clear voice and managed to capture all the emotions this song gives someone. You truly made this song yours. _You were made to sing this song and it was made for you._

Beautiful cover like always
Honestly, she is so stunning and talented! I can only imagine how many hours, days, years, etc she has spent learning music and all! It is so inspiring to see
Most calming voice ever!
Absolutely beautiful like always.
Amazing cover. When I heard your cover I imagined I was with a hoodie sitting around a fireplace, outside was raining, I had my guitar and playing some soft melodies along. That was awesome!
Your voice is so beautiful that my heartbeat goes faster when I hear you sing.
Simply wonderful, thanks.

still beautiful and underrated
An angel singing 😢😢😢😢🙏
I hear your voice when the sun is rising 🥰
🥲very wonderful
Listening to this with the big light off and a cocktail in hand is the closest I think I'll ever get to a jazz club experience, but I can confirm it's still a perfectly good one 😄 Great job with those high notes, too 😊 Please give my love and regards to the shuremv5 - it'll be missed 😅
Love this so much, gave me chills like hearing a Karen Carpenter song.
Dude your voice is like friggin amazing! Also how do I learn this piano part!? Keep crushing it💪
And here i wonder why this cover is not on the top of all the covers in here ❤️
this was such a good cover!! I hope you enjoy the barbie movie as well! I don't have any jazz albums specifically to recommend, but someone who's traditional jazz inspired I really like is Laufey, although I'm sure you've already heard of her haha

Congratulations on your new microphone, I guess ☺️
Merci pour cette paix.
Обожаю слушать в вашем исполнении песни. 😊
속삭이는 듯 말하는 듯 노래하는 Billie를 좋아하는데, Lucy의 노래도 듣기에 편안하고 아름답습니다. 감사합니다. 응원합니다. (I love Billie, who sings like she's whispering, like she's talking, and Lucy's singing is soothing and beautiful to listen to, too. Thank you. Cheers.)
SHE DOESNT MISS ‼️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🛸
Good thumbnail :D
If you haven't already, I would give Sade a listen .she is One of the top 10 female jazz vocalist from the 80s till present
( Whether we're washing dishes, caressing the flowers, looking up at the sky, strolling leisurely, or lazily curled up in bed... we often find ourselves humming a tune in the midst of these everyday moments, and this song by Lucy is one of them, and it's so relaxing to listen to. (Sorry, I'm not fluent in English.) )

Amazing singing 👏 voice beat music awesome
O M G!! Blessed by God!👏❤🙏
Sorry but my somewhat fallible memory brain cells re Lucy's jazz interests are fired up no matter what I try to do! Whether for a commuting playlist or even a cover for Lucy, Dave Brubeck's influence is beyond question, and a check out of the Montreaux Jazz Festival history (2024 starts soon) is worth a visit with many outstanding artists. I also fondly remember Georgie Fame's "Yeh, Yeh" impact for me (worth a slow cover version) and jazz icons Billie Holliday and Peggy Lee. This is my last comment on this I promise!

My days are always brighter when i see you post a new video. Now i know you are looking for vocal jazz recommendations, wich im afraid im not to familiar with that, so ima just recommend my favorite instrumental jazz albums. Ryo Fukui - Scenery & Letter from a slowboat... He was (RIP) an AMAZING japanese pianist that taught himself how to play jazz at 24, yea.He use to play in a bar called "Slowboat", hence the name of his album. His wife still owns the bar to this day. Audace - 胡蝶の夢、十の夜 (idk how the name its called in english, but you if you type this on youtube it will show up) This one is a FANTASTIC jazzy album, were the only instruments are an accordion and a clarinet, and it just works. Yea both albums are Japanese Jazz, what can i say, Japan really knows how to make fantastic jazz. I wish you a wonderfull sunday Lucy! You never fail to make me smile.
