What Was Cain's Mark?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Through the centuries the question of, what was Cain's Mark, has been the subject of much debate and unlettered speculation. In today's Bible study, I will answer from the scriptures:
1. Was Cain's mark a literal mark?
2. What was the purpose of Cain's mark?
3. Was Cain's mark his skin color?
4. What Cain's mark was not.

If it Cain's mark was not literal how would those who would have killed him notice it?

The Bible doesn’t say that a sign or a mark was placed on Cain’s person in any way. The sign consisted of a solemn decree that was known and observed by others and that was intended to prevent his being killed out of revenge!

@@kamaujo2000 Jesus, a name that has only existed since the 17th century, and therefore never revealed by God. This name “Jesus” is a Latin transformation of the name original Latin name of “Iesus”, as can be seen in the 1611 English KJV where we find the name "Iesus". There is a difference in spelling and pronunciation (Jesus=gee-sus) and (Iesus=ee-sus). Iesus comes from the Greek Iesous. Iesous is a transliteration of Yeshua, an Aramaic name. Here is the Problem, the apostle Peter stated: "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). The question is, what is the by which we must be saved? So which name is the one name revealed from heaven? Is it Jesus, Iesus, or Iesous? The answer is None of these names. These names were never revealed by God. Yeshua is clearly the name used to transliterate from Aramaic to Greek causing "Iesous," which would indicate that translators thought Yeshua to be the Savior's original name. Another problem is that these names, Jesus, Iesus, and Iesous have no intrinsic meaning regarding salvation in any language. This tells us that using the name "Jesus" is in error. The Savior revealed His name to Saul, who was later known as the apostle Paul, in HEBREW! The name “Jesus” is not a Hebrew name, and the Savior never knew this name. The apostle Paul testified, "And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am Yeshua(?), whom you are persecuting" (Acts 26:14-15). There is no letter J in Hebrew. The Hebrew letter Yod, the first letter in the name of Christ, corresponds to the English letter Y. So why are we using the letters J or I in place of Y? Yeshua is a shortened name for Yehoshua. Yeh, in Yehoshua, used to be YAH, as in YAHOSHUA, but was changed to Yehoshua for many centuries only to be shortened to Yeshua. God did not put the name of Jesus into our Bible, it was done by auspices of the church leadership, the blind leading the blind, which allowed for the illegitimate changes in the only revealed name of salvation to become an entirely different name never revealed by God. We are supposed to say, "Halleluyah," which means "Praise YAH!" YAH is the name that is above every name, which the apostle Paul heard on the road to Damascus. He, Paul, heard “the name which is above every name,” that is YAH, and he wrote as much: "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:9-11). Every tongue, every language, is to know this one revealed name by which we must be saved! YAH is “the name which is above every name!” Just as the apostle Paul heard it. Because the Savior of the world has the name {YAH}, we stand by the true name of YAHSHUA! It is serious because we are warned that to reject or not believe in the name of YAHSHUA, one stands condemned. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God" (John 3:16-18). If you do not see how serious this is, you are lost in the Traditions of men that make void the word of God (Mark 7). Do we deny the prophet, who testified to the name YAH, for he said, “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation’” (Isaiah 12:2 NKJV). Do we deny the Savior, who told the people, that before Abraham was, He was YAH? YAHSHUA said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” YAH means “I AM” in Hebrew. The people knew what He said, that He told them that He was their God, who spoke to Moses. Moses was told that God’s name is YAH. Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “HaYAH Ashar HaYAH.” (which means: “I AM WHO I AM.”) And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” Moreover, God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations” (Exodus 3:13-15). LORD=YHWH=YaHaWaH and YAH is “the I AM,” and Hawah is “to be”, as in everpresent. YHWH means, “I AM ever present.” It has come to this that to know the one name by which we must be saved, we have to rely on the Word of God, because religious leaders will claim that the name YAHSHUA is a “philological impossibility!” And many are deceived by that statement.

Some years ago I went through something while I was a leader in the church. It was a marital issue. And even though I could feel and see God close to me, I tried to fix things instead of waiting on The Lord. I eventually abandoned my positions in the church and even though I didn't go back to a worldly lifestyle I believe that I strayed from the path. Today I feel The Lord calling and taking me back to a life as a church leader. These studies have both encouraged and enriched me greatly. Please help me pray. I also have a brother, Carlos, in a Physical Rehab hospital in Fla. He's a dialysis patient. Help us pray for him. God bless you!

Right. I dont understand why they dont see that. It couldnt have been a sign or token. Cain wasnt going to carry around a sign. Why cant people just take the word for what it says. Its like they try to say the mark of the beast is a chip. Well thats not what the bible says. It says its a mark. You can cut a chip out of the skin. But im not sure what the mark will be. Im sure after people take the mark they wont want it removed because they will have to have it in order to buy or sale. Let me ask you a question. I like your comment and you are right it has to be literal. But the question id like to ask is Who would it be that would kill cain if God had not put a mark on him? lol Just wondering if you know. I have studyed this for a number of years. I like asking questions that will blow peoples mind. Think about it. Who was on the earth besides Adam and Eve and their kids? If it was only family why would any of them kill their own family member?

One of the most important object lesson presentations yet - not because of any revelations as to what Cain’s mark consisted of, but because the question provides an opportunity to emphasise that we must NEVER indulge in dogma that cannot be supported by scripture. OK to have theories on questions on Biblical matters which may be difficult to interpret, as that’s part of the thinking and learning process, but must remain as theories unless they can be backed up by God’s Word in an ironclad manner. Once again, many thanks for sharing, Tiff.

@@joycetennison3941 Jesus, a name that has only existed since the 17th century, and therefore never revealed by God.

The one thing I've ever inferred from this passage is that God thought that, even after Cain killed his brother that he was still worthy of protection. Cain was likely most hurt by Gods rejection of his sacrifice because he really did love God, but fell into the trap of "there is a way that seems right unto a man, but in the end, that way leads unto death". Another thing is that Adam and Eve made clothes of leaves (vegetation), but that wasn't sufficient. So God killed animals to make them clothes of flesh. Then Cain tried to sacrifice vegetation, but that wasn't sufficient either because God says that " blood" is needed for atonement.

Pastor, I have to ask how much you have verified the NLT with your knowledge of the Word? I am not asking from a place of deception I honestly want to know. I use many different Bible translations but have steered clear of the NLT because the limited amount of scholars involved with the translation. I trust your opinion/knowledge and if you've compared it against the original languages that's good enough for me to buy one and start my own study of it. I'm currently studying the NAS/NASB 77-95, LSB, ESV, NIV, KJV/NKJV and CSB. So as you can see my plates already pretty full but I am always looking for knowledge to mature in my walk with Him. Thank you if you answer and if not I fully understand. May the LORD continue to bless this ministry and bless all to know and love Him...

@@roseludvik1743 I have done extensive study on Scripture as you can see below. You are parroting conspiracies with your beliefs about the KJV/NKJV. As you read below the level of critical study of the original languages shows all errors/differences in the manuscript evidence we have an abundance of today. I hope it helps you in your studies. With all of the evidence we now have there's simply no way I can logically doubt His Word and by extension the LORD Himself. These other books and writings from antiquity are held up as truth and in some cases factual history. These other books/poems and there evidence/sources: Second most common manuscript document Homer's Iliad meaning there are more copies of it than any other secular writing/document from antiquity of which only 643 exist dating from 13th century AD. Homer is believed to have wrote it in the 8th century BC. The Gallic Wars of Cesar in 1st century BC, there are only 10 manuscripts of that in existence dating over 1000 years after they were supposed to have been written. Herodotus wrote of history and is known as one of the first historians 5th century BC and only 8 manuscripts exist and they are from more than 1300 years after he wrote anything. History of the Peloponnesian War written by Thucydides. There are only 8 manuscripts that are from 1300 years after he supposedly wrote his account. Side notes on other religions: Book of Mormon and their various writings prior to the 1820-30's = 0 as in nothing has been found to support any of it except where it is clearly plagiarized from Scripture. Now let's look at Biblical proofs: We have a reliable collection of historical documents written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They report super natural events that took place in fulfilment of specific prophecies and claim that their writings are via divine inspiration, not from men alone. Jesus Christ healed the sick, blind, deaf, dumb and paralyzed, cast out demons, walked on water, fed thousands with little, and was resurrected all of which have eyewitness accounts. The feedings alone were witnessed by the thousands He fed on the two separate occasions that we are told of in the Gospels. John tells us that there were many more signs/miracles than what are recorded in the Gospels/Bible and that it would have filled the entire earth were they all to have been written down. There can be no doubt as to the accuracy of our current Bibles as it is proven via all the source fragments, scrolls, papyri, codex' and sources dating all the way back to before Christ around 700 BC for the OT and between 100 to 150 AD for the NT. We have more proof for God's Word than any other written word in history, it is by order of magnitudes more. The early Church Fathers prior to 325 AD: Those known as the Anti-Nicene Fathers writings contain over 32,000 quotes from the New Testament from which we could reconstruct the entire/complete NT from those alone. They also contain over 19,000+ quotes from the Gospels alone prior to 325 AD. The Bible is not just a book it is a collection of 66 Books all of which are linked together by One Divine Author. In this collection of Books there are over 40 authors but only one Devine Author who links them all together via the Holy Spirit. Those authors wrote down His inspired Word. The bulk of the New Testament was written over a period of around 50 years. It was in 49 AD to 53 AD when the Scripture writings of the New Testament are thought to have begun. With the last living Apostle John dying in 100 AD. Over a period of around 1500 years it was preserved and passed on: In 3 Languages On 3 Continents There are 66,360+ source documents that have been found for the entire Bible of which there are 24,360 and counting source documents for the New Testament alone. 5,839 in the original Greek, some 2 million pages 18,524 translations of that Greek into other languages Some of the oldest sources date to 125AD which is within decades of the completion of all the books that were canonized as the New Testament. Those asking for "Scientific Proof" of the Bible are either ignorant or asking with evil intent. Scientific Method is basically: 1) Has to be observable. 2) Has to be measurable. 3) Has to be repeatable. Therefore no history can ever be proven via scientific method. You must use the historical method based on: Eyewitnesses accounts. Documents from that time or as close as possible. Make sure the story is corroborated by as many sources as possible. Look for anyone/anything that attempted to prove any of it false in that time period or as close to it as possible. Did anyone successfully prove any of it untrue, if they did why has no record of it been found? Mathew = Was written more to the Jewish audience and that's one of the reasons for the extensive genealogy of Christ. There are also more references to the Old Testament in his Gospel compared to the others. Mark = The shortest of the Gospels and is very direct or "Just the Facts" if you like. Luke = Historian A man of science, a physician, an educated and logical man who researched and gathered the accounts of eyewitnesses. He recorded the actual eyewitness accounts of our Lord and Savior, those who had heard Him speak and were present/saw the signs/miracles He performed, such as the Apostle Peter. He did this because the life of those eyewitnesses were coming to an end due to age, or Martyrdom, and he was inspired to write them down via the Holy Spirit before they could be lost or perverted by time. John = Evangelist John is organized around 7 specific events/signs/miracles all seen by eyewitnesses and corroborated by many. So he also provides proof of accuracy/truth. All of the Apostles were eyewitnesses of Jesus and/or of the resurrected Christ. Including Paul whom Jesus came to as he was on the road traveling to Damascus to persecute more Christians. This would have been the resurrected Christ or a form of Him from Heaven. There were at least 300 eyewitnesses still alive when Corinthians was written who could have disputed it but no one did. Mathias became the 12th Apostle after Judas hung himself so the argument of there not being 12 Apostles comes from ignorance or evil intent. Other cultures and non believer's historical documents show or corroborate many things that are in the Bible. Yet none of them prove any of it to be false yet they do strengthen it. All these sources allow us to be critical when it comes to the level of accuracy in our Bibles. The oldest manuscripts end The Gospel of Mark at chapter 16 verse 8. There is a lot of evidence that anything after Mark 16:8 was added later gathering parts from all the other Gospels and even Acts. 4th Century Church fathers Eusebius and Gerome both wrote that Mark ended at 16:8. Many, early Church Fathers, (after 325AD and beyond), knew these alternate endings existed and didn't use them. This is an error in the KJV, NKJV and the Book of Mormon, (unless it's been changed), which are based on more recent manuscripts that the older manuscripts disprove. Those translations have the added ending consisting of anything after Mark 16:8, (as well as other additions/differences). Newer translations may or may not include the additions but if they do they're bracketed or mentioned in the notes. The external evidence, (oldest sources), indicates that anything after 16:8 does not belong in the Gospel of Mark because those additions do not exist in the oldest sources. The internal evidence is that it is all borrowed from the other Gospel accounts and Acts. We don't know who these additions came from but we know where they got them: (below are not time stamps but Chapter and verses) .16:9 = is taken write out of Luke 8:1-3 .16:10 = John 20:18 .16:12 = Luke 24:13-32 .16:13 = Luke 24:14 .16:14 = Luke 24:36-38 .16:15 = Mathew 28:19 .16:16 = John 20:23 .16:17-18 = drawn from a lot of sources: Mathew 10, Mark 6, Luke 10, just a lot of stuff cobbled together. Acts 23-26 and Acts 28:3-6 Paul's encounter with the Asp/venomous snake. None of it after Mark 16:8 makes any sense and adds more than a little confusion with the discussion of signs/miracles and other such things. Why does Mark end the way he does? Look at the beginning of his Gospel and all throughout it reads like a highlight real of Christ's Deity and that He is in fact the very Son of God. Mark's last words were about fear, a Godly Fear of our Lord and the pure awe and wonderment of Him. No other book in history has the proof the Bible does, it is not even close. As I've shown because of the over abundance of source materials we can even be critical of what we have and know for certain that we have His Inspired Word. Word for Word and Optimal Translations prove just how accurate what we have is. Biblical Historian/Theologian AT. Robertson said we have a vast array of Biblical Manuscripts that allow us to reconstruct the Bible with more than a 99.9% degree of accuracy. With the number of archaeological excavations, (25,000+ and counting to date), it is only a matter of time until we see more ancient biblical texts and supporting secular evidence found. The Bible is the very Word of God, it is a collection of eyewitness accounts written by other inspired eyewitnesses. There's no longer any excuse for anyone to ignore that fact or to dispute it. The evidence simply does not support their arguments/views. Take care and God Bless...

@@roseludvik1743 Brother I just noticed how cold my reply to you could appear. That was not their intent and I meant no insult. The problem with text is no inflection, so instead of friendly discussion what I said could appear as belittling or insulting. That was not my intent at all. For the last few years I have been deep in study comparing different translations that come from reputable scholars of multi-denominational teams with sizes of at least 70 or more. I then go to the original Greek/Hebrew and compare the words they've used against the oldest examples we have of God's Word as well as the writings of 1st, 2nd century believers known as the Church fathers by most. It has been a very rewarding study and has helped to open the Word to me as never before. I imagine Erasmus himself would have loved to have access to the source documents/fragments we enjoy today. I was only thinking of sharing what I've learned and hopefully encouraging a fellow believer to look at some other translations. I'm truly sorry if my words offended you as that was never my intent. With brotherly love, God Bless..

There is no record in the scriptures that specified what the mark was.
