    Try the Hungarian, Slavic or Tatar shooting technique to have your arrows in the bow hand (not a draw hand), when arrowhead is pointing up, not down. It will increase a fire right due to the specific position, orientation and closure of arrows to the knocking point :) Even beginners will shoot fast, having 0 precision with their hand movements :)

    Being from England I always wanted a Longbow, but I discovered Horse bows! I've been practicing archery with my 48" string length 25lb@28" trad. bow, holding a few arrows in hand - no quiver - no anchor points no one style of anything... it's a horse bow after all. If my first shot misses (The flyer) the second or third usually does! I can average around 1 shot every 3 seconds... One day I might manage to get 3 shots a sec..... One day .... Maybe. In my mind a long bow is a rifle and a short bow is a sub-machine gun! Have you checked out Lars Anderson? All the best. ;-)

    I'm curious did the Islamic world use high-powered composite bows during the 12th and 13th centuries? Thanks. I'm asking because from what I understand, they had pretty powerful bows that are arguably comparable to that of the longbows in Europe, if not maybe a little bit more powerful. Thanks for the information

    I noticed that you're sort of using the thumb ring is a reverse manner, and gripping the reverse lip with your index finger kind of like using a Korean thumb ring. I've never seen it used like that before. Is this also another method described in historical manuscripts?

    Ah at 5 min your knocking is *terrible*--comically so. You are drawing your arrows from the wrong side, and you need to grab them by the knocks to seat them quickly. Also, you're riding your release forward.

    Abu Muhammad Jamal al-Din 'Abd Allah Ibn Maymun al-Murrakishi. he wrote al-ifadah wa-al-tabsir li kull ramin mubtadi aw mahir tahrir bi-al-sahm al- tawil wa al-qasir. 4 surviving copies. "Arab Archery" is the translated version. Though in 1945 when it was translated the author was unknown and only one copy of the manuscript was known. Arab Archery says 1500 AD but we now know that it precedes Taybugha's "Saracen Archery" and we know more about the work and author due to the newly found copies.

    My friend Your theoretical knowledge is wide but I'd suggest that before you release a tutorial you'd rather learn some more about the practical side: You'd do much better wearing the arrow quiver on the right side, wether the arrows must face the back or the front is up to you, You wear a thumb ring but if you shoot using Mediterranean draw it's pointless. You wear the thumb ring upside down.

    The wisdom of Allah would say, before you teach, at least become proficient. That nocking tecknique alone is atrocious and no wonder it takes 24 seconds to loose 4 arrows. Please forgive my criticism and may Allah bless you with insight.

    I love anything archery..especially Islamic archery and to find out more about arabian archery. However in this video. A lot of the techniques you are showing seems very inefficient. Firstly I think the taking the arrows out of the quiver is wrong and it's on the wrong side of you. Which makes a slower archer. Also the draw techniques. What about the khatra and what about instinctive archery. The technique of aiming is far off and very inefficient. Instinctive archery was fast and required muscle memory instead of aiming at the target like in Western archery. Eastern archery is very different to Western archery and the west is only catching up to the eastern archery now. Also your Mediterranean draw is Western archery style..it would be more thumb release or Slavic release. This makes it more efficient because a person can even shoot knockless arrow with Slavic release. So I don't think this is really accurate on the historical side. Also it was more historically accurate for the Arabs to use long bows. Horse bows was introduced later on by outsiders from either booty or trade. They used self bows because in the desert they didn't have all the things to make a composite bow. You can even see the bow of the Rasool (s.a.w) in museums. There is dispute whether or not it was his bow but there are others dating back to the same time period which was self bows and more of a long bow look to it. Only a few people had composite bows.

    Why on earth you wear your quiver like that? 5 arrows in 2.5seconds is impressive but it's not impossible. You could should 5 arrows in 10 seconds is quite easy if you practiced enough and wear quiver properly

  • @alanretamozo

    @alanretamozo

    11 ай бұрын

    @@gilgamesh-antara that may be the case, but if so the archer would grab the arrow with the bow hand which is actually fast and efficient for thumb draw, the same as scythian quivers on the left side-but that's not the way he tries to draw here.
