recently used the night network, on the Sunbury line, at 2.33am from Flinders st and there were quite a lot on board for a Sat night/Sun morning

it's like this on an early morning train too. i catch the Ltd express craigieburn in the morning and there is no one

Excellent video on a rail topic rarely mentioned or covered. I appreciate it's a train video but it may have been worth mentioning that there are selected tram and bus services as part of the night network.

Thanks. Generally keep this channel to just trains. But yes, 100% correct

wish they had it on Thursday nights too due to so many uni events and that running late into the night. Only ever caught a night service twice I think. Once from Flinders to Williams Landing, and then a night bus (which suprisingly had a large amount of people), and once from Middle Brighton to Flinders (think I was the only one that got on).

Yes. Would be good. Even if a partial night network till 1am or something

I'd increase the current timetable to a 20 minute frequency everywhere on the network to current last train, then half hourly for two hours after, and hourly until last service, and run it 7 days a week, with any train replacement buses running to the same frequency.

isnt really needed other days of the week, could possibly extend it to Thursday and run normal service an hour later every other night where nightly services are not run

Maybe on the surface it isn't needed, but if Night Network services were there, it could help shift workers going to and from most of the major locations.

Night Network is what im surprised Sydney doesn’t have but i think they have some bus equivalent or smth 🤔

At the start of the video, I actually had a trip from Merinda Park - Richmond on a HCMT during a thunderstorm, the train shook quite a bit when lightning struck. Pretty scary train ride!

an hour is a long time to wait in the dark, but if every line can run hourly service, its actually quite a reliable service

love your videos, keep up the great content!

I wonder if all of the Metro Tunnel stations will be open for the Night Network when the line opens next year?

Was this today? I was at Newmarket this afternoon around 3pm and saw an X’Trap go through at normal speed, could have been the same train maybe.
