When I was in my 30s, I wore skirts instead of jeans a lot. I was trim and loved the looks that were available. Now at 67, I wear jeans, corduroys, fleece pants (not jogging pants), and cotton knits, depending on the season. Skirts make me look like a ship in full sail these days.

You're bang on about the sweater dresses - they can be either way too form fitting or too boxy and short. This has been a hard one for me to pull off. Wonderful video! Keep 'em coming xo

I actually had to take to making my own as they are utterly impossible to find these days! When I think of all the lace trim half slips I had back in the late 70's......

I've been endlessly searching for a jumper dress that doesn't have a roll or turtle neck, and has no wool in it (am really allergic). It's so hard!! I wear dresses and skirts to work every day. I feel no need to wear anything thermal underneath though, despite a long commute involving walking and public transport!! I'd love it if you did a video on non-wool (no merino, cashmere, angora, lambswool) knitwear, for those of us with allergies.

I appreciate this post. I've never liked wearing jeans, even when I was in school. I've always found them too heavy and hot. Also, I don't find them nearly as well-fitting or flattering to my figure as softer/lighter fabrics are.

Wearing a watch over the sleeve of a sweater or long sleeve, excellent! So many wonderful suggestions and ideas here, what an abundance! I am always encouraged to turn into my closet rather than into my phone to start shopping when I watch your videos. I very much appreciate that! I absolutely love dresses in the winter time, possibly more than in the warmer months! Skirts also and there is so much opportunity for creativity with them. Some of my thinner dress is actually even tuck into my thicker denim pants as an oversized kind of shirt.

Nice choices, but I don’t think I will ever get on the bottom split leg pant train. It does nothing.

I have found that wearing a full slip and tights with a sweater dress, plus a "shapeez" form-fitting cami with built in bra, makes the sweater dresses look so much better! And a great tip is to soak all the undergarments in fabric softener before wearing. This gives a really nice flow to the skirt and gets rid of cling.

Lots of suggestions here love heavier Black tights in winter. Like the watch over sweater cuff. Love long coat over sweater dress .love leggings with boots .I like wide leg trousers winter white or black. Great video as ever Gemma

Great vlog, so many beautiful outfits! As a Floridian, the only time I can wear jeans is winter so I take full advantage. But I just got a pair of ponte knit front-split hem pants and can't wait to wear them. I love how they lay on (and highlight) the shoe, and flatter the leg!

Hi Gemma. Personally,I love the wide leg,slightly androgynous trousers but I have the advantage of being 1.69 m tall. I really dislike the split hem trend- I’ve seen it styled in many ways but it’s definitely not for me. I thought Kate’s boots looked like Fairfax and Favour because of the tassels but could be mistaken. However,I’d love to be able to purchase a pair !

Gemma I wear a lot of midi skirts that fall in the middle of my calves, I agree that coats look better if they're long/longer than the skirt but it's incredibly difficult to find a coat long enough to do that. I'm also nearly 5ft 9in too and have to buy from Tall ranges to get the sleeve length I need which makes the choice miniscule! Should a skirt/dress NEVER show under a coat or is there a rule that if its massively longer than the coat that balances the look? Help!! 😀 x

I own jeans only in dark blue.I NEVER wear them. I love midi skirts and wear them all year they look best on my body. I can make them look quite casual or dress them up.

I hate jeans. I wear chino trousers or cigarette pants with everything: shirts, tops, blouses, sweates and cardigans. Even with sneakers when I’m travelling. They are much more comfy than jeans but itis really hard to make them look casual. I am always too dressed up wearing shirt and chino trousers but I really hate jeans so I won’t wear them

This is great, thanks. I’m 61 and have never found a pair of jeans that is comfortable to wear. I have a straight shape, with narrow hips, and they’re always sliding down and I have to hold them on both sides to walk. The fabric is so rough and stiff, too. I’ve tried every fit, rise, style, elastic belt, etc. I’m trying to stop buying them and convincing myself that I might be able to stand them, I can’t. I wear my knit pants, leggings or joggers instead, silk ones if I want to look dressy (they’re sublimely comfy, too). But, mostly I wear casual dresses or skirts, they don’t fall off and I can really move comfortably in them. I think many women have forgotten how easy and comfortable a dress is, especially a knit one.

I know what you mean Kimberly, I wear jeans but I can’t say I enjoy wearing them or enjoy shopping for them at all. To me they’re the easy option but I’d much rather wear a dress or pair of trousers

My hips and waist are the same size, so jeans and skirts always slide off of my body too. I always wear a Cami that is made from a non-slip material under the jeans/skirt. If you make sure that the waistband of the jeans /skirt lays right against the Cami, it will somewhat anchor the jeans/skirt. This has helped with the slipping waistband better than anything else has. It’s a real pain in the neck when you have this waistline problem.

Know lots of people don't like them, but I find denim jeggins comfortable, especially under a long jumper, or blazer. Some are better than others, very soft too..maybe give them a try x

The only things that make any sense are the black tights or trousers - Jeans are super casual and the rest of these outfits are more work-related and would not be a reasonable alternative for jeans

Interesting thinking. I think many of these looks are elevated from jeans, without being fussy. I have preferred to wear skirts for years because I feel more comfortable/attractive while still really comfortable.

Talking about environmental friendly products, I hope those bags that you have behind you on the shelves ARE ALSO vegan...
