I don't think I've ever worn a slip dress! I am not planning to start. Straight, bootcut, and flare jeans are really more comfortable. Thank you for your wise advice.

I'm almost 54 and I'm wearing a gold lame slip dress to my friend's wedding next month 🤷

For years KZread stylists have been saying skinny jeans and/or leggings are out. I think the stylists need to give in to the fact that leggings/skinny jeans with boots are an enduring staple in many women’s winter wardrobes.

The thing is, some people have long slim legs, some have short chunky legs, some have perfect legs, some have muscular legs and some have shapeless legs. You wear the jeans that make your legs look the best they can, regardless of what's in fashion.

I love high rise. It covers my belly and no rolls are hanging over.

Me too. Then I catch myself in the full length mirror so take them off, throw them in the donate box. Just cuz I pulled them on doesn't mean I can wear them in public.

I will be 70 next year. I wear black leggings or skinny jean with boots all winter long. I usually wear sweater dresses over them. I doubt I will ever stop wearing them, as I wear knee high boots all winter.

Very relieved on all points, especially the oversize trend which did no favours to petite folk! Thanks Deirdre.

I’m 80 this year and always go for my silk velvet collection in black…with flashes of color. I do water aerobics 4 days a week and am in pretty good condition.

When you said to ditch baggy/oversize my heart sank, as I just love wide leg trousers, then realised you were not talking about wide leg, but 'swampy' clothes. A couple of years ago I started wearing body skimming tops with wide leg/palazzo pants and the difference is utterly staggering - I no longer look scruffy!

Now I style the same clothes differently and the results are impressive - well I think they are. Thank you.

I have always resisted wearing Logos. Unless and until I get paid to be the product’s billboard, I will not pose as one.

I love skip dresses. I have 5 and I live in them in the summer. The ones I have are rayon, not shiny, silky material. I think they do skim my body and hide my lumps and bumps. I wear them with jean jackets and sandals or tennis shoes

I agree. Last week i sorted my jeans out, discarded the skinny ones, i only have straight leg, Mom, and bootcut now. xx

The skinny jeans will be back, all fashion in on cycles. Cracked me up to see my sons high school 1997 girlfriend wearing the same miniskirt outfit I had in highschool 1970. 😂😂😂 Pack away the style that is "out" ,it will return.🩱👗🩳👠🥾🧤👖👕

The only item you mentioned that I have is an oversized sweater. I really like it and will probably continue to wear it because I don't pay attention to trends. I just wear what makes me happy and is comfortable. Thanks for the video. It was very informative.

Hi GIna. I absolutely say "go for it" with the oversized jumper! I don't think there is anything wrong with them, just be aware of styling them with something else that is more fitted and the balance will work. XX

I totally agree with you on neon colours as well as uncomfortable shoes of a n y kind, Dear Deirdre. Those are a total no, no, unless you are in kindergarden and want to impress the other children, or as an adult, want to let your feet ruin your day. Countless times, I told myself „come on, those shoes are squeezing your toes a little, but just a little bit!“ and it got worse the longer I had them on my feet. Thank you for your video 💐👍🏻🌸, very pleasant as everytime and great reminder to stay away from those.

I have to agree with you about these items. I think with slip dresses and low rise jeans only a minimum amount of people can get away with these. If I wore the items you talked about in this video today people would snigger at me 😆

Love the Chanel type jackets. Bought a few slightly oversized blazers last year that I still like so will team them with streamlined bottoms and make sure things look in proportion…something that you tell us all the time. Brilliant as always! As we get older I really think we need to assess our wardrobes regularly! Too easy to get stuck in a rut and repeat an old favourite. Then we feel and look frumpy! I never bought a slip dress because I always thought they looked like a nightdress. At 4'10" I have to be careful with pants so I don't look like the pants are wearing me. 😊 I still like my skinny jeans and everything that is closer to the body. Baggy clothes are never flattering for anyone. I'm glad it's on its way out.

Baggy clothes only look tolerable on very thin, long people. You are so right to point out that garments that fit correctly are the most flattering. The drape of the fabric on a more loosely cut garment makes all the difference in how good it will look. I completely agree with you on all points.

Slip skirts are a great alternative to a dress for making it fit various sizes as you can get the correct size and adjust the top to suit that shape 🙏

I subscribed after two videos, because it was clear we have the same style in clothing. Old enough to get senior discounts. However, I was recently told I look 47. I have looked over many videos for dressing maturely, and I finally found the channel that shares the styles of closing, I prefer to wear.thank you for the advice you have given I’m going into my closet and preparing my spring wardrobe and it should be easy if I follow your rules for styling outfits for 2024.

Hi Deidre! Another wonderful video from you, with the funny "Limousine shoes" that made me laugh! Just last week, the weather here in Texas was 70 degrees, in FEBRUARY, so of course, I ditched my boots and grabbed my 4 inch Tommy Hilfiger summer sandals and headed to lunch. These are what I call 'restaurant shoes', because they are NOT made for walking, they are for sitting and eating! I wore my driving shoes to get there, changed into the restaurant shoes, and very carefully walked the 50 feet to the restaurant. Feeling good, feeling fine! Thank you so much for all of your videos, you changed my life last year and I'm like a new woman now, much in part to YOUR videos, providing inspiration and also letting us know that it;s perfectly ok to 'just be you'. I 100% agree with 'slip dresses'. I always thought they looked daft, as if the wearer had forgotten to put on their actual dress. The same with the slip skirts. You're bang on with the other suggestions too. I'd probably suggest that people store anything they really love as it'll probably be back in a few years. Fashion is speeding up ridiculously.

I remember when all you could buy were low rise jeans and I hated them so glad we have a choice now. The slip dress I think was awful it reminded me of something you would wear under a dress and not as an outer garment so glad that’s gone too. Thank you for all the other tips.

I saw an episode of Say Yes to The Dress where a woman said Yes to a slip gown. It was gorgeous but....she took it off, saw it on the hanger and changed her mind. It cost $6,000. For a slip dress! She left without it.

I actually "like" hearing when things are not "in" at the moment; I use it as an instigator to putting away those things in a box under the bed and when i pull them out a year or so later it's fun to see it again! Then i can have the fun of being creative again (hmm, what can i wear this with?) or immediately see if i should send it on its way. 😁 And, re this video, those yellow roses are so pretty! Something that I’ve learned is that, although I am 5’7” I have a short torso, so petite dressing is more flattering for me despite my height. Thanks for all your recommendations! ❤

I agree with all of these "don't's" and I'm very happy to see some of the items that are currently trending and/or classic, especially for the more mature woman. As lovely as slip dresses and skirts are on younger women, as you pointed out, I have never gotten over the feeling that they look too much like lingerie, hence the "slip" in the name. I love that kitten heels are back, as they're so much more wearable by everyone! I never got on board with skinny jeans, so no sacrifice there! 😅 Wonderful video, as always! Thank you, Deirdre! ❤️

Hi Deidre, I stumbled across you and I love anyone who can help me dress for success. I decided to try a lighter pant to replace all the black. I really saw that the black was really stark. After a bit of experimenting I saw what that lighter pant really improved the outfit. Relaxed top and a tighter bottom is lovely and visa versa. If I wear a baggy pant I always wear a more form fitting top. No logos ever, if I wear a logo the company owes me an advertising budget. Thank you for the counsel. It has changed my dressing already!

Me, too - I hate high rise jeans & I also can’t imagine why anyone wants to wear “mom” jeans - I wore them the first time around - so unflattering, I think - I hate ever getting rid of any jeans, but I did get rid of those years ago - lol

I just got wide leg pleated trousers last spring. They give me a waist and bring me back to 80s prep

I have a pari of low rise MET jeans that looks great on me. I have long legs, short torso and a fairly flat belly. It’s more about the body shape in my opinion. I also love indigo skinny jeans with high heels, a navy blazer and a classic shirt.

As always, a great and fun video. You truly are a gem! I agree with most of your points on your list. I beg to differ as far as neon colors are concerned. I love my bright - borderline neon - yellow silk blouse! And no way I would part with my neon pink bag. Apple shape or no, it's such a mood lifter for me. Other than that, I couldn't agree more with you. 😘

Yes, to clothes that fit just right, and as an inverted triangle wider pants and a slimmer top are my best friend. I was over oversized clothes right from the get go. I’m not one for logos so no to any and all logos.

I agree with all of theses recommendations . Sometimes I wonder if I'm dressing too young as my style hasn't changed a lot since 35 . Fortunately the classics have always appealed to me. - touches of trend with updated colours are my main focus when adding to my wardrobe . Also keeping my flabby upper arms covered. - I admire women who have the courage to expose them as it is part of aging and no amount of arm exercises rids of the crepe skin .

I agree with you Deirdre! I am so glad to see oversized go! I absolutely didn’t participate in that trend because I hate it! It looks frumpy on most older women myself included. No clunky shoes either. Young people look fine in all that but at 63, I would feel like I found an old trunk of shoes from the mid to late 70’s when I was a teen and wore those! 😆

This is spot on Deirdre! I never did get oversized, when you're tiny its just not a good look. And I so agree about neon, I last wore it when I was 18 or 19 :-D slip skirts I never bought into because they just don't flatter my shape, definately they look better on the much younger gals. I've donated all my skinny jeans, they're best kept for long boots but what I found was after a period of not wearing them, when I put them on, they didn't feel comfortable at all! I used to LOVE teetering about on high heels, 4" was my max, but I really don't know how I managed! these days its flats or a low heel, comfort all the way for this 50 something woman! :-) lowrise....there are sooo few who can pull that off! sadly I was never one of them!LOL give me high rise any day!
