What to sow in June? My top seed picks! That’s what we’re talking about today… here are the seeds I’m sowing this month, because maybe you’re wondering ‘what should I sow this month?’ AND I’m going to recommend one seed, that if you sow nothing else, you need to sow this!

I’m in Chicago. I’m excited to start lettuce and radishes for my kids.
I live in Florida, so the seeds you plant in June I plant in March!

It's amazing the difference in climate isn't it?! I wish I had that here!!
Oh I can't tell you how excited I am to find a gardener from N. Ireland!!! I wish I had discovered you earlier so that I could have sown and grown along with you. I was so unsure of exact frost dates etc. I love your videos, they are straight forward and to the point!! Also you have a lovely manner about you. I will definitely be watching you Niall and hopefully be sowing and planting the same times as you!! Thank you xx

In the Canadian Pacific North West, those lovely black and white beans are called Orca beans because they look like the Orca whales that live in our ocean.

I can totally see why they’re called that! love that name as well!

Yes! I'm in W Oregon, and get Orca beans from a wonderful couple at our year round farners market who grow several wonderful bean varieties, and various colored popcorn, in addition to fresh veg! I was just thinking I should see if I habe some left to sow!
Love that you are growing kohlrabi! We do a spring and a fall sowing- and love it raw for green and pasta salads. I did an experiment and tried an overwintered crop- many of them bolted as soon as the soil warmed...so I pickled as much of the bulb as I could, AND the shoots and flowers which were delicious! A wonderful crop!
Great video niall! These are such a great resource that I know I'm going to be coming back to in winter to help me plan 😁

Thanks JB!! Really appreciate it!
Yes I can even think of June planting here in zone 4 in North Dakota USA. We went from borderline freezing nights to in the 60's and over 100 in the days, the locals say this is not unusual. I will be growing many of the same veggies as you so it will be fun to see the challenges of two very different areas. One funny thing I must share about seed tape. I tried having my grandson sow the carrots last year and as you can imagine we had millions to thin out when they sprouted. Well I figured lets try seed tape this year. Well the birds must have been watching so now we have nest with seed tape. -Great video!

Excellent information Niall. Great to see what you’re growing. As you mention there’s still loads that you can plant in June. Take care. Nick

So nice of you! Thanks!
Lovely selections and video, Niall! I am in W Oregon, with a similar climate, and planting many of the same veg. I just got a seed order from a local OG farm, and planted Doucette d'Alger - a summer corn salad cousin, and Cilician flat leafed parsley, an old variety from Syria! Plus a pretty purple bush bean and small watermelon penny's that followed me home from a nursery ...

Hi Nadya! Thanks for the lovely message - sounds like you're growing some really interesting varieties! I love hearing what other people are growing!
Love watching your vids, even though I don’t have a veg garden yet. Will next year though and your info is valuable. Live in a cold area of Canada so short season veg are good to know about.

Lol - Ireland is such a niche growing climate. Anywhere continental and June can be blisteringly hot and dry.
Great video and I live in Virginia so I adjust depending temperatures
Great video, very encouraging g. I'm in Somerset so probably ably have warmer drier summers. But I'm super excited to plant more beetroot, love their easy to handle seeds, and more baby corn. Great in stir fries and they seem easier to griw than regular sweetcorn. My first batch was planted out a but early. It looks healthy but is fairly short still, think it's sulking from the cold nights in May.
Very professionally done video. I hope you blow up like some of the other garden channels. Very calming and informative. You got a sub!

Barf!! Beets!! Top 5 things I’ll never eat again.
Funny to see this video last night after picking up some veggies to plant from Gasko’s (NJ-USA). I also picked up white sweet corn and butternut squash (my favorite, too) to plant up the cattle panel hoop house, along with Rosemary, a citronella plant to hold the mosquitos at bay during happy hour al fresco with my gardening and gin buddy, and just for fun, black elephant ears. Still on my ASAP list are stevia and watercress, and I have a few dozen gallon jugs sowed a few weeks ago with flower and veg seeds now peeking through the potting mix. It’s nice to have someone to compare notes with, despite being a pond away.

Hi Niall, Many thanks for your videos absolutely thrive on them. May I ask what seed company you used for your butternut squash. It was great how info came with the packet. Kind Regards
I had Black Beauty seeds last year as well and had a poor germination rate indoors
I’m so happy that I stumbled across your channel. I’m in Nova Scotia, Canada and I’ve been planting in containers this week. Other than my tomato plants, everything else was planted as seeds. Fingers crossed that I have success with them. Just wondering what planting zone you’re in? I’m in zone 5, so I hope I’m not too late in direct planting seeds.

Hello over there in Nova Scotia! I pretty much straddling Zones 8a and 8b so we have a very temperate climate here. I say you're never too late, it's always worth giving some seed a go!
Morning Niall I am growing black beauty and they are doing great but my cuke plants for this year are super slow going. I did butternut and red Kuri for my winter squash. Bok choi I grow lots and let some go to seed for next year. Peas are going insane and I am having a good problem of trying keep up. Beans are doing well too and I like you am growing funky coloured beans. Corn is about a foot tall and I did 2 varieties a 60 day and a 90 day. Poly tunnel looks great and so full. As always thanks for sharing ✌️🇨🇦🐝 safe

Wonderful and informative video! By the way, the italian beetroot variety Chioggia is not pronounced as you did. "Chio-" sounds like "Kyo-" in "Kyoto", while "ggi" sounds similar to "-dge" in "judge"
I will definitely sow some beans now that my broccoli is out and I have some room

Thanks Niall, loving the list. Well done. Have a great bank holiday weekend. Hi Niall, we sowed kohl rabi (we're in Co Leitrim) last month in the tunnel to plant out and they are doing great so I've directly sown another bunch. I also tried pumpkins for the first time ever, transplanted them out and they haven't died, woot! Also the runner beans are out but they attracted every slug for miles around it seems. :/ We've had a lot of trouble with the leafy greens bolting (spinach, bok choi and even rocket) but it's good to know I can sow more. Great video, thanks. :)

Here down south we wait until after summer Solstice before sowing any more rocket; i say more, is now mostly all over serving as a great ground cover in certain areas that require shade for brassicas.. although when planting for salad is less likely to bolt if sown at the commencement of our shorter days in uk x
Where are you located as i'm in Phx. and do not think your plans will work here. It would be nice if you mention what zone you are planting in.
Lovely update! Thanks Niall. I agree with the butternut squash! We have had our last frost now in Uppsala Sweden too, so all these seeds are perfect for us too. I've even got lentils and chickpeas growing this year- in Sweden!

Niall, I have a friend in Cork that needs a source for common variety of flower seeds like violas, African daisy, sweet peas. He's had a tough time ordering online because of brexit and the costs associated. Do you know of any places within Ireland to get seeds, preferably online?

No flowers in the list?! Awwww
Should leave kohl rabi and turnips for mid july now really. June not a great time to sow them in UK. Think you'll be disappointed and get bolting or smaller woodier roots and possibly more pest damage. Don't believe the back of the seed packet. They don't do well at hottest point of the year. Best to be tiny seedlings in August. Those tomatoes look way too close together to me too.
What zone is this?

I dislike B&Q and the crap they sell, but to be fair their VERVE lettuce seeds (red and green lettuce) are FANTASTIC.
