You can prefill with either. Just depends how long you want to wait. Even prefilling with air dry and waiting a couple hours is better than nothing.

Taping right now a room at home, I did the whole v grooving of the butt joints, I packed them with quickset and glue mixed in, and just straight taped them with the fibafuse, didn't shrink much at all 🤷 I feel as though that tape is superior to the paper, these joints feel hard as a rock with that combination.

That is exactly what was happening to me doing hallways that are a mix of reg type c 1/2" and of course 5/8s . I couldn't figure out what was up tks man that is definitely the problem

Not worth it IMO. I only use it for prefill and maybe tape if I’m in a rush.

I’ve been using Sheetrock 45 for all my repairs filling in holes & smoothing out defects. No problems so far. Will have to get regular mud when I get around to skimming a full wall that I have do. That’s later down the road. Probably next year.

What’s the purpose of pre filling the flats…Shouldn’t butts only be prefilled? Aren’t you creating a hump by filling the bevel in the seam after 2 coats? Fill me in

The round edge on the 5/8 bevel is so pronounced it actually creates a gap that needs to be pre-filled so the tape lays flat
