You can prefill with either. Just depends how long you want to wait. Even prefilling with air dry and waiting a couple hours is better than nothing.

Taping right now a room at home, I did the whole v grooving of the butt joints, I packed them with quickset and glue mixed in, and just straight taped them with the fibafuse, didn't shrink much at all 🤷 I feel as though that tape is superior to the paper, these joints feel hard as a rock with that combination.

So does pre-fill mean, fill it with mud, wait for it to harden and then do the usual? Usual is mud then paper and mud again?

This might be a stupid question but is there a reason for those rounded edges? I have never seen that before in my life.

That section where there is half inch of wall near the inside corner, how is that taped?

That is exactly what was happening to me doing hallways that are a mix of reg type c 1/2" and of course 5/8s . I couldn't figure out what was up tks man that is definitely the problem

What is the difference in use between sheet size 3/8, 1/2, 5/8?

Instructions unclear: now I roll super strong joints.

Do you let the prefill dry before taping? Or do you do it at the same time?

So you Let dry the fill first before taping right!?

when you say prefill,do i have to put the mud first and let it dry and come-back,put some more mud and put the tape ??

What's your take on guys using hot mud for filling, putting on a base coat, & finishing with it? I see this from time to time here in the south.

Not worth it IMO. I only use it for prefill and maybe tape if I’m in a rush.

I’ve been using Sheetrock 45 for all my repairs filling in holes & smoothing out defects. No problems so far. Will have to get regular mud when I get around to skimming a full wall that I have do. That’s later down the road. Probably next year.

What’s the purpose of pre filling the flats…Shouldn’t butts only be prefilled? Aren’t you creating a hump by filling the bevel in the seam after 2 coats? Fill me in

The round edge on the 5/8 bevel is so pronounced it actually creates a gap that needs to be pre-filled so the tape lays flat

Canadian. We use Sheetrock in the US and it’s got a less pronounced rounding
