I am the original owner of a 2003 Ford Super duty F-250 Lariat CrewCab 4x4 7.3 PowerStroke with 70,610 miles. I purchased my truck on 12/22/02 as the sticker price was $44,813. I wanted to purchase the new 6.0 Diesel engine but they were being held back because of mechanical issues. I was disappointed at first but after driving my new powerful toy I fell in love. Since then I have had three issues with my truck which was putting new brake shoes and turning the brake rotors. The second issue was a fuel leak at the fuel filter gaskets. Just recently a new alternator was installed. My truck has been parked inside my homes garages 24/7 and has only been driven by me. The performance of my truck is outstanding as my truck handles and speeds like a big race car. My health has declined since I had a terrible accident a long time ago so the last 12 years I have put only a average of only 168 miles per year. I live in the southwest part of the United States so rust is not an issue at all! Good luck with your diesel! What’s

Hey Aaron just a heads up that small oil leak is more than likely from your valley of your engine. Wether it be a high pressure fitting/pump leak or a turbo pedestal leak its more than likely not a rear main. Just look into your valley, itll be hard to see under the turbo but try to look into there because it will pool up and go through a tunnel in the block that drains it all over everything underneath the truck. Not sure if you have looked into that or not just figured it could save you a lot of time and money.

Forgot some big ones to check. Fuel in the coolant overflow and excessive blow by but some is to be expected.

man might as well rename this video to "how to nit pick a vehicle". its as simple as if you are going to buy an older vehicle, expect issues and if you aren't mechanically inclined to fix them yourself, factor in if you can afford to pay someone else to. dont expect to go look at a vehicle thats over 20 years old and see a brand new truck. if someone came to look at my powerstroke and tried to bring the price down because there is a rust bubble in the rocker panel i would tell them to find another truck🤣

@@brad6523 its peak nit picking and lowball tactics. you see a little bubble and claim you have to replace all this metal and hope the seller is dumb enough to buy that and knock the price down a ton.

I hate saying it but with the prices of old trucks, used Nissan Titan 5.0 cummins are still a good deal. Not many people think of them and there really reliable.

I’ve seen the gas Titans used as work trucks for hauling small trailers such as lawn care trailers or of similar sizes. But to haul heavy loads I wouldn’t suggest a titan.

That truck is riddle with problems. Probably worst LD diesel. Not counting eco diesel from Ram and the f150 diesel. That 5.0 grenades itself. Cranks snapping are an issue, turbo are issue, cp4 fuel pump is an issue. BUT when that 5.0 is working right it is a smooth engine. And if tuned. That puppy will fly. Dang shame they didn't come out with a 2nd gen of it. Could've worked the kinks out.

That's a first LOL. Just a quick glimpse in the engine bay shows that it's a 7.3 diesel. That badge up there on the fender is a dead giveaway of an early 1999 Super Duty diesel... Late '99 - 03 the new badge is on the door fyi.
