    As I soon as I saw the “Los Angeles,” I understood 😂. I’m in California too, it’s extremely impacted and competitive for RN. I completed RN prerequisites at a CC with 3.9 GPA and 89.3 TEAS score and still didn’t get accepted into any RN programs, I applied to 5. Some schools give more points for experience, which I didn’t have unfortunately. Now I’m a CNA and in LVN school, then I’ll try again for RN. It’s frustrating ngl

I was able to transfer most of my pre-reqs, but I did decide to take Anatomy and Physiology at WCU and I'm so glad I did because those two classes are pretty much the foundation in nursing. I also want to mention that it is required to take 4 classes in WCU before you start nursing core (First year seminar, critical reasoning, pathophysiology, and GE Capstone). I'm taking Physiology and Critical Reasoning right now and working 24 hours a week and don't feel overwhelmed at all. But I also did need to develop good time management skills. Hello ray sorry for such a late reply. Schools been pretty hectic lately. But working is doable at WCU a lot of people work full time jobs have kids etc. to each their own so my biggest advice is to ask yourself how committed you are if you do work because doing both is extremely draining. If possible I would not work for the first half or even quarter of your nursing core. 1. To get accustom to the work flow and see if you can really handle it. And 2. Because the first half I would say is very time consuming there’s a lot of days you need to obligate actually being in theory, clinical, skills lab, and sims. So those can take up 3-4 days of your week. But after the first half the you usually have one theory class and clinical and then your other class is asynchronous. So the rest is all time management really. It’s a long reply but hope this help :)

    Hi! I just started this November and already about to finish the term but I start nursing core in April I believe and I wanted to know how long are clinical hours? I’ve been debating about attending an out of state college for much cheaper but everything is online and from what I hear their clinicals are only about 2 weeks total. I feel like that’s not enough to prepare someone so I’m really curious about Wcu’s clinical hours.

  • @dez.janelle4979

    @dez.janelle4979

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey! So I can’t remember exactly what was on the TEAS cause it’s been so long but basically it’s a placement exam that consist of Math, English (grammar, reading, writing), science (if I’m not mistaken it’s mainly biology and some basic anatomy/physiology) and I think you need like a 69% to pass? I could be wrong. But look on the WCU website and it should say. The TEAS can be difficult if you’ve been out of school for awhile and haven’t been in a big comprehensive test setting. You can always buy a “TEAS for dummies” book and study from there. Now failing out of WCU you have 2 chances and honestly as long as you put in the work and use all your resources such the many different forms of tutoring WCU offers and you’ll be fine! Goodluck to you!

    There’s fall 1 which usually starts in august and ends at the end of October and fall 2 which usually starts in November. I would suggest starting the application process about 1-2 terms before. Each terms are 10 weeks so if he knows the start date count 10-20 weeks before. The earlier the better to give you more time to get all your documents done. You can always tell them the exact start date you want even if you apply 2-3 terms early. Hope this helps! And Goodluck to your son! :)

    Some will fail or quit school and still have to pay thise loans. Also most new nurses are already wanting to get out of the field after their first year working and struggling with burn out and mental health. Imagine having this massive loan and not being able to quit, and you got your loved ones to co-sign so if you deafault then they are at risk of being garnished or sued for their assets too. So many in this situation.What a nightmare. Nursing is not a "dream job" anyone should be paying more than six figures for. You are paying to suffer and be exploited it's not worth it.

    Hey! Thank you for watching! For loans I personally like acent. It’s one of the choices they give you. It really doesn’t matter which loan you go for. As long as you and your co signer have good credit. But I would recommend doing a fixed loan which means your interest rate doesn’t change throughout the years you’re in school and paying for the loan. Also deferred which means you don’t have to make payments until you’re down with school. So it’s a little less stress when you’re in the program. I hope that helps!

  • @dez.janelle4979

    @dez.janelle4979

    Hello. I’m not an expert at loan but from my understanding your interest is higher than the loan itself because your APR or interest rate is high. Meaning it would be best to get a co-signer who has better credit to be approved for a lower interest rate. An interest rate below 7% is considered good. As for your courses they should give you a proposed schedule with the classes you took to see how many units you’ll be taking at WCU it is unfair for them to tell you to get a loan first because you need to know the exact amount of classes you’ll be taking to even apply for a loan amount. You can’t apply for a loan amount with a guess amount. Once your schedule is set your financial advisors will give you the loan amount to ask for. Hope this helps!

    It’s hard to give an exact number because they change the tuition so often. But an estimate I would say like 50-70k depending how much GE and pre reqs you got done. Hope that helps! :)

    I would like to say yes as long as you pass the requirements like not failing previous nursing courses, passing the hesi or the teas, etc. you can always call the school and see what they require.
