WHAT TO EXPECT | Throat Cancer | Signs, Symptoms, Diagnosis, What Now? My Story to survive!

I have throat cancer…once I was diagnosed I wanted to know more and found that KZread didn’t have anyone documenting their journey. So i am going to do that in hopes it helps someone having to deal with this.
My throat cancer journey will be different than everyone’s however the process of radiation therapy is basically the same. What’s not the same is the severity (stages of cancer) being treated and the physical effects vary by person.
Regardless this is my story. For everyone beginning this journey, during or after … tell urself just one more day.
For those who want to follow my treatments subscribe and follow.

My Dad had esophageal cancer. His symptoms were that he couldn't swallow food all of a sudden the food was getting stuck. He had a upper gi done and confirmed he had stage 4 esophageal cancer. He was a heavy smoker. He lived 1 year and 2 month after diagnosed. Love ya Dad 😇 God bless you brother

Very sorry to hear about your Dad. My brother in law was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer six months before he was to retire at 66 years old. He didn't make it through chemo and passed 3 months after being diagnosed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I too lost my dear mother July 3, 2023. She had no idea until the tumor was already blocking her breathing pathway. We fought for for 3 good years and she was a warrior. I am forever grateful to have spent everyday with her until her passing. May our parents rest in peace. I hope your healing❤

Back in 2002, at the age of 46, I had cancer on the surface of my vocal chords. My voice was exactly like yours, and I felt like I had a marble in my throat when swallowing. The ENT removed it all. I didn't require radiation therapy, but did make regular visits to have my throat scoped every month, eventually becoming every two years, where I'm at now. I'm still cancer free, but sure glad I went in when I did. If I'd waited much longer, it quite likely would have been a different story. Best wishes to you.

I had laryngeal cancer. Symptoms started before Thanksgiving 2022 and it felt like I had a piece of wire stuck in my throat when I swallowed hard. ENT visit confirmed it in Oct of 2023. Started chemo and radiation treatments for stage 1 cancer. Before I finished ALL of the treatments I blacked out their office and spent three weeks in hospital. Said I was dehydrated and had no platelets at all. Had to be brought back to life three times before I finally levelled out. Have no memory of what went on except what wife has told me. I came home the first week hallucinating and had no memory of this fourth week. Then the fifth week I still hallucinated and had more memory than before. I was relatively dizzy and it still remains.....but I had a recheck back in early May and said I was still cancer free.......pray that it stays that way!!!!

My mom had laryngeal cancer. Her symptom was a persistent sore throat. She had a laryngectomy in 1990 with two-thirds of her larynx removed so she had somewhat of a voice afterward (sounded like she had laryngitis). That surgery is not performed now. She just recently passed away January 4th of natural causes at 88. She had a stoma and breathed out of her neck but lived a beautiful, active life. Good luck on your treatments.

Hi Sorry to hear that you have throat cancer . I had covid April 2021. Had 15 admissions in & out of hospital. It affected my heart, lungs, clot in my lung & many more. Was on nebuliser all the time as my peak flow was soo low. Breathless, cough , sore throat , ringing in my ears.etc. Had all the symtoms & was very ill. I too have voice problems. It totally goes away to a whisper . Was checked out by ENT specialist who scoped me too. He told me I had narrowing at the left side of my vocal cords. Due to my constant cough that I still have 2 half yrs ltr . My voice is still like this & I feel I should be scoped again. Due to me havn this for 2 & half yrs. Our NHS system in Scotland us not the same now. I wish you well & hope you get better soon. I will keep you in my prayers. God bless .🙏🙏

Luckily his wife was persistent . After chemo and radiation he has been cancer free! The problem is his voice and not being able to breath because of scar tissue from treatments. He has been struggling having to do steam showers in the middle of the night to break up mucus. so he can breathe , his voice goes from being just ok to hardly a whisper. As of right now he is looking for a second opinion to help with his breathing

My husband just got cancer on vocal cord from HPV. If you know of anything to improve the voice or save it, let us know please. We are not looking forward to him losing his voice entirely.

Hey, speaking from a medical background, please ask yer docs about using GUAFENACIN for mucosal breakdown. It'll help to dislodge and expel the stickiness of the phlegm. It's all natural.

My husband was in a nursing home he kept saying his throat hurt, they took it as a normal sore throat had him to gargle with warm salt water the with Clorisept ic spray. Then had him to go and have a barrium test done, nothing show on the test..Then when he started growing a tumor and the right side of his neck. Is when the head nurse said we need to do something now. Of course it was too late after 3 operations the cancer cells just move down in his chest.

Hi , i also forgot to say that my dads brother & 2 sisters had throat cancer . It runs in my family.. Im thinkng of going private . Its went on too long . Its 2 half yrs later with my voice. People cannot make me out & it goes away to a whisper. Our NHS in UK is failing . I wish you well & have subscribed to your channel. Its been nearly over a year since i was last scoped. My docs just keep saying its long covid , that i have . How do they know for sure , without doing more tests on me again. As an ex pallitive care nurse , who is well aware of cancer , i am now concerned. There is something wrong & i definitely need to be scoped again. Seen the doctor 2 days ago , she said i have a large ulcer at the back of my throat. Gave me a difflam spray. Which only numbs it & i told her this . She told me you have 10 minutes & you can put your jacket back on now. Her patient care is appauling & i told her that too. No care, compassion or dignity towards her patient. .You are in my prayers for good health.. God bless.

Hi, tell us the type - was it "HPV 16 Positive?" - the sex cancer? I just went through 35 radiation treatments and 5 chemos (cisplatin) for that cancer. brutal. My tumor on the lower right side of the tongue was initially identified by CT scan, while the cancer type was Id'd via biopsy. Treatment wiped out taste buds, led to dry mouth. Now recovering - still lots to do to get better. Figuring on 1 - 2 years until fully normal.

My voice has been the same way for several months. The ENT checked the throat and said I had a polyp on the vocal cord, but he did not biopsy it. My voice is still hoarse.

I am seeing a new ENT. My voice has changed and I cannot sign, former mezzo soprano. Told by a laryngal specialtist that mine was caused by GERDS, wrong! I saw a nodule on my right vocal cord two years ago when I was scoped and he told me not to worry about it. A DEATH SENTENCE when a cavalier doctor says this. So on to the next doctor. I am 79, I believe these doctors today will say anything especially if they have no use for the elderly.
