    I love how honest n genuine you are. This was so in depth n really painted a full picture of everything a mama needs to know. I’m due in January with my first baby n definitely scared but I’m walking into it knowing as much as possible, a flexible attitude on how everything will go n doing my best to teach myself that my body is made for giving birth 💜

    Thank you! This was so helpful, especially the part about engaging the core muscles! I have a birth plan written and its a lot of what you said, I heard from my doula that putting the ideas (I like music and affirmations, I want an epidural, etc) and some preferences (For example, please no students in the room) on a sheet of paper can be helpful (knowing you have to be flexible! Nothing set in stone) as reminders for yourself, birth partner, and hospital staff.

    I watched your video twice. It's my first baby, due in March 2022 and you really know how it feels when it's first time. And you are absolutely right about the fears, I got into a panic mode when I realised its my 33 week and only a month is left for me to experience that labour and delivery phase (which is completely unknown thing for me). But your advices are really good and helped me get a bit relaxed and be prepared for what's coming. Thank you so much, sending lots of love and prayers 💖💖

  • @SoulTribeMama

    @SoulTribeMama

    3 жыл бұрын

    Most places that offer it need you to be local to them to transport the placenta. I know some will even do it in your home so you know there was no contamination which I think is cool. I would just try to figure out what you want wether it’s the capsules or raw etc and then find a company near you that specializes in that type of way.

    @@SoulTribeMama That makes sense and is kinda what I thought for transport reasons because most of the places I found were local. Throwing up 5-20x a day almost daily and now I’m just so dang scared of labor and hoping I get to keep all my teeth once she is born and I see a dentist. I am getting ready to have my baby next Friday (will be induced) and I want the Epidural but my mom keeps saying that I shouldn’t get it because I will have horrible back pain for the rest of my life..... 😰 she had to get an epidural with her last baby and she says she still suffers w/ back pain from getting it! I can still feel where the epidural went in when it’s cold outside or raining but I also have a Pre existing condition (scoliosis, arthritis and bulging discs in my lower back) idk if it hurts because of my already existing back pain or not. I have heard other friends say they can feel it as well when it’s cold out but not all the time. I’ve had an epidural 4 times now and I haven’t seen any elevated pain after each one.

    Were they able to put your epidural in easily with clothes that didn’t open in the back? I’d love to wear my gown and robe set for photos afterwards but I do not want to hinder the Drs and nurses.

    as long as you can unbutton it all the way open in the front so they can lift it up or pull it to the side when they do ivs and epidural then its fine. i just would not wear like a long t-shirt dress or pj dress with no buttons. i wore my nursing bra and delivery robe over that.

    For me, the epidural took all sensation away... That's part of why I'm so determined to do baby #3 without it... I feel like I missed out a little... I was able to push perfectly, but I had no pressure or tightening... I wondered if they can control that somehow with the amount of medicine or if they can turn it off at some point. ?

    The problem with how she regards and describes a birth plan, is that she is missing the point of a birth plan. The point is not the ultimate piece of paper that results. The point of the birth plan is the actual THINKING and CONSIDERATION of the choices involved: everything she mentioned prior to the pain of birth segment is a part of the creation of a birth plan. The important thing that must be said about a birth plan is that no one should expect to know how labour will play out; there is always something unexpected that comes up. But it's essential to consider what one wants that experience to look like and what one needs to get through it. Reviewing a birth plan template and thinking of one in general is the mental preparation for the experience. I don't want to find myself anxious and uncomfortable while giving birth and not know what other options are available to me. And, the nurses are not there to give me those ideas but only to give what I ask for. But, if I do not know, how can I ask? Lastly, for any WOC watching this: we do not have the luxury of trusting completely in the U.S. medical system, much less maternal care in this country. We need to know how and when to advocate for ourselves at every turn because we never know when our medical providers are truly allies. Thus, giving a birth plan true consideration beforehand also helps us in this mental preparation so that we can also advise our support people how to best advocate for us when we are in labour and unable to do so for ourselves.

    Am I the only one who gets frustrated by listening to so many examples of how our body naturally does this process and then everything the doctors do to make it happen faster or different or whatever? So many times through this video I’m bothered by how much interference there is and the fact that NOBODY talks about all the options we have! “They won’t let you eat”, sorry, how am I supposed to have the energy to push after STARVING for 24+ hours. You CAN eat. “Your water breaks” (meaning labor started naturally) “but they give you pitocin to get things going”. Things were already going! “You have to have antibiotics if you test positive”, actually you don’t. You don’t even have to be tested for it. (You don’t have to do a lot of the testing they do during prenatal visits.) There is a very small chance Group B Strep will be passed onto your baby even if you’re positive and don’t get the antibiotics - and what’s more, your baby is STILL at risk of getting it later in life by some other means even if you get the antibiotics or if you test negative! People need more education on this. My heart breaks for all the people in the world who truly don’t know what they’re putting themselves and their bodies and their babies through. Doctors definitely have their place, yes they can save your baby’s life if needed, but the majority of labors and births aren’t complicated and are low risk, yet they’re still handled as if they’re high risk and that causes complications. That is infuriating to me.... Soul Tribe Mama, this is absolutely not bashing you or your stories or experiences, I just want other readers in the comments to understand this is NOT the only way things can or should be done in a hospital. I want them to know they have way more power over their labor and delivery experience than they think... whether they choose to exercise that power is one thing, but they definitely can’t if they don’t even know their options....

    There's a difference in making educated decisions and refusing just because you can. There's also the fact that all the things you mentioned are small risk, but when you've seen a healthy baby die for sepsis from Group B strep, getting antibiotics in labor is literally nothing, refusing that is idiotic and dangerous. Laboring for days after you water breaks can cause deadly infections for mom and baby. If you eat and baby crashes all of a sudden mom could die from aspiration pneumonia in a c section. Sure none of these are super common but I've seen them all in my relatively short time as a L&D nurse so making them seen like such rare occurrences that nobody needs to even think about it is very irresponsible. Im all for having less medical interventions in labor when it makes sense, but Let's encourage moms to get good education about child birth and what can happen when they refuse interventions with little to no risk.

    Yesssss. I was thinking the same thing. You have so many different options during your labor, you don't need to labor at the hospital, they don't need to induce you, you don't need pitocin, you don't need antibiotics, episiotomies may cause more problems than what they are trying to prevent. Its definitely good to hear stories but everyone should be aware of all the choices they can make and not just do whatever the doctor tells you to do. Nowadays its all about rushing and getting that baby out as fast as possible instead of letting the woman's body do what's its meant to do!!!

    Completely disagree re birth plans. We call it preferences but you can’t make decisions in labour in the same way and if you’ve not made decisions beforehand you may end up with the dr/midwife standards. I also think it’s incredibly naive to think they’ll ask for permission for every decision
