How do you do a necropsy on a bee colony? I am about to start bee keeping and would like to learn as much as possible about what to do after the loss of a colony.

Excellent correct use of necropsy over autopsy!

If there are barely any bees in there, they abandoned it. If there are dead mites among the dead bees, they died of parasites. If all the honey is gone, they starved. Sometimes, you can't figure out why though so you have to assume it was too cold over the winter.

I have seen people use the debris to make fire starters they leave a little of the wax behind just enough for the debris to cake together than they press it into little cones and it just works no accelerants needed. I am sure there is a ideal debris to wax ratio they try to maintain but its one way to recycle old debris the other thing I saw was someone just composts them.

I tried making beeswax candles in jelly jars but the wick just burned a tunnel down the center. I tried braiding a couple together to get a bigger wick but it didn’t burn right. Someone told me to add coconut oil. I’m scared to even try now

Maybe try a different wick material? Like wooden wicks or something. That or maybe the wicks you're buying are coated in a certain kind of wax that has a higher melting point than bees wax. (I have 0 experience with making candles but it might be a starting point for you to look into things)

Been beekeeping for a couple years and had the same problem. Tapered candlesticks are best for 100% beeswax. Enjoying my candle while typing this, Goodluck :)

I was a very difficult baby and my mother was really struggling with postpartum depression as well as being busy taking care care of my older brother because of this her many many friends would take turns taking caring for me. One friend Clarence was already a father to two children (I believe they were in middle school at the time) After my 1st birthday he became one of my primary caregivers. As I got older his wife Teresa would tell me stories about how he would take naps on the deck in a hammock with me on his chest as he sleep talked/mumbled in German (his native language)and how if she tried to take me while we were sleeping he would hug me tight and swat at her, he almost punched her in the face once while sleep “defending” me (Holding me tight much like the father and daughter in this video) Clarence and his wife have since divorced and are no longer speaking with my family. I often think of them and miss them very much

It's just nasty water with contaminants. You could probably compost it. But it's like rendering fat. I do this with bacon in a crockpot. Cover with water cook it all down. The fat\wax floats. The water sinks and takes the gunk with it. Then you can pop the purified fat\wax off the top of the water.
