To detect virus Open Task Manager -> Startup then Observe if there are Random Programs with funny file names running on windows startup.

Brian i am in trouble ,i cannot run Malwarebytes in safe mode....what can i do now...can you do a video how to protect from virus your other drive ,most of my files on D and E now say when i open up the files in security it say..You must have Permissions to view the properties object. :(

One thing you left out that I find critical and something I do for all my clients is a discovery to try and identify how they got infected in the first place. I firmly believe an educated user is one that wont have to hire me in the first place. I know its taking money out of my pocket but I cannot in good conscience not try and help them understand what they did wrong. Of course there are those times when you cant figure it out but most of those I believe are because the client lied about something like telling me they was not visiting porn sites when they was...;)

I’m not sure how things are handled across the pond, but if you’re in the U.S. and conducting any business online please freeze your credit file as soon as you’re aware of being compromised. Great video

Be wary of OEM keys. If you use one to activate your copy of Windows, when your beloved PC inevitably dies, not only will you be buying a new PC, but a new Windows product key as well.

I’m going to school so I can’t go on my pc and I’m pretty sure I have virus so I have disconnected my pc from power will it be OK?

Also, if you're running something like Windows Defender, will it work well being off-line? To add would it be better to run the quick or full-scan?

Great info....thanks. My bank gives us a key to generate a random number to get in. You are given a user 6 digit number but then you have to use the key to get the number to login instead of a pw which is a good thing because people are really careless with pw's.

Question regarding disk cleanup though, i've used it a bit in the past, but for some odd reason it doesn't actually seem to be deleting/cleaning anything, because I would run it (mainly to free up space on on whichever drive), hit the "clean up system files" option, it'll scan and it'll say i'll have like 556MB of stuff to clean, check the boxes, hit ok, then go to restart my system, but when I look at my drive i'll have even LESS space than before and if I run DC again it'll give me a whole new amount (200MB now) i'm able to clean (keep in mind I tried running this multiple times sayme thing happened). Wondering if you know the cause this and the solution cause it's been almost a year since i've used the tool and not sure whether I should go back to try using it especially since i've read stories where disk cleanup even deleted someone's hard drive while others face the same problem with it just not cleaning up files.

In the past I would always configure a boot time scan (I used Avast). Not sure if this is still a good way to go.

Been a while since i actually had a messy virus on my system(windows 7),if this happened now i'd just reinstall windows probably since my data is backed up and i use the pc for gaming mostly anyway 🤷

Good advice,but you can save yourself a hell of a lot of trouble just by always running your machine sandboxed. Stops everything,especially Zero Day threats.

I had the same problem a couple months ago and i used malwarebytes, it found 1,571 items detected and i had to delete each file and each registry by myself and i have done it in 3 days now my pc is much faster then before. The only problem i have now that when i downloaded malvarytes now it deleted my windows defender i mean Virus And Threat Protection panel, can you help?

Depends on what you’re trying to do. They can work, but if you’re trying to clean a very badly compromised computer, you will need to use many tools to be sure.

Put it in ten days isolation, give it its jabs, cover the fan with a face mask and check it contacts with other computers.

Don’t ask why I’m watching this NOW, but I there’s 1 virus that Eset is looking for and can never find, is the virus trying to hide?

I did not delete it

My computer been popping email app then I uninstalled it but chrome is keep on poppin. I tried downloading antivirus softwar and malwarebyte they can't detect it

best way to get ride of virus or check if there is virus 1st open bios and scan 2nd factor reset using bios

Good advice. But stil the best way to deal with virus' is not to get the in the first place. Only use trusted sites, don't click on strange emails, don't use cracked software, and set windows to show all extensions.

i real like that Process Explorer/ Process Hacker ! You should have shown booting into a Linux repair disc , just saying

If your programs are on an SSD and your " stuff" is on a hard drive separate... just WIPE and reload the system and move on...

I have a huge virus, it is called Windows 7, which was the operating system on my computer when I bought it from HP, well alas the Hard Drive died, I thought nothing of it since it was an old computer, but lately it seems MicroSoft has stopped all things to do with Windows 7 and 32 bit Software, well I am a game collector and have lots of 32 bit games, so when the Hard drive died, I was thinking just replace it with an SSD re-install windows 7, and use the key code on the side of the computer, but me reinstall Windows 7 was on the hard drive (now dead) so I went into my collection of Windows OS disks and re-installed Windows 7, now why windows 7 32 bit, it was and still is the best OS MS ever made. So I installed it, put in the key code on the side of the computer, and I get (you have a counterfeit system on your computer) and now after 29 days I get please activate pop ups which stops whatever I am doing. OK, I tried activating and the activation site doesn't seem to exist anymore. Now I am only using this system to play games, so it isn't even hooked to the internet except to download patches for the games. So if you want the biggest virus ever made buy Microsoft!

Honestly. Sometimes idk 😂. I downloaded a file, there was a trust pilot. Don't know what I was thinking. The sites can Sometimes be sketchy

To answer the title : JUST PUT A MASK ON IT.....AND GIVE IT A BOOSTER.....

hello folks will reinstall windows really get rid of every virus etc - ive reset my laptop twice using britecs advice and also ran tronscript - which was going great untill the end when it couldnt access some locked files - im not very tech savvy so i didnt know what to do with the files - but since then ive noticed when i switch my laptop on a window pops up every time listing the default apps - im worried about going through the whole process of reinstalling windows for nothing - i know theres something wrong because amongst other things - defender offline scan doesnt run anymore - neither does eset 😞

Happened to me too

There is no safe mod I'm my computer when i restart

I just do windows logo+r and type mrt and do quick scan

I won't do my usual " I run Linux " comment. In all honesty the last time I had a virus or any sort of malware was way back when I first tarted using Windows 7.If I werre to get a virus now with Windows 10 I would just do a fresh install. I have various backups of everything so it's no real issue to do a reinstall.

Windows 7 was bad for virus, I had to turn everything off on Windows 11 just to infect it, the both OS are like night and day when it comes to how easy it is to infect with malware.

I get a lot of customers that think they have a virus, because their pc is running slow, or they get adverts on certain Web sites. Most of the time it's because they don't use their pc often or long enough to do the windows or antivirus updates, turn in once a week for 10 minutes to check their emails, then turn off before it gets chance to update, then next time the pc has double the work to catch up.

WHEN you RELOAD everything-- reload LINUX-- throw Windows in the TRASH- and you won't have to worry about this nonsense.

MY FREIND GOT A VIRUS BECAUSE HE PUT HIS EMAIL IN a link and i told him not to

i have a fresh install the only way to know it's all gone

Just make sure you scan the PC with multiple different antivirus software. Use Kaspersky rescue disc and let that scan complete. Then run eset online scanner, malwarebytes and hitman Pro

GIVE IT AN ELECTRONIC ENEMA--- wipe it's butt clean and reload everything... problem solved..
