What to do when someone comments on your foreign accent in English

In this video, I talk about having a foreign accent in the US and what to do when someone comments on your accent. I also discuss accent bias and discrimination, and why so many nonnative speakers of English want to acquire a native-like pronunciation.

I was born here and I’m a native English speaker, and people use to ask me all the time while I was growing up “where are you from” and I would say “America” and they would say “no, where are you really from.” It hardly ever happens anymore. It was mostly a boomer phenomenon.

If you do not understand anything by listening then how will you feel, and you will know its meaning in your own language, only then you will be able to answer. I gave up language because of grammar,
