When I moved to Las Vegas, I did ALL of those day trips except for the grand canyon, long before I even thought about going to the strip. The nature here in Vegas is just indescribable. It must be seen to be believed.

There's also Gold Butte National Monument which is south of Mesquite which is kind of like a continuation of the Valley of Fire. One thing to be aware of with Gold Butte, Valley of Fire And even Red Rock Conservation Area is that during the summer it gets blistering hot in those places. The best time of year to visit those places is fall, winter and spring. During the summer months you're probably better off heading for Lake Mead or Mount Charleston.

Honorable mention: Mt. Charleston. A little bit north of Red Rock Canyon is the Mt. Charleston area. TONS of hikes and natural sites to see.

Hi Mark! My husband and I have just recently started watching your videos… our children have grown up and left the nest 😔😉so we have started to travel to places that we would like to visit . All your videos have been spot on!!! It’s quite unbelievable! You obviously have worked so hard to become so informative. Also my husband Jonathan said you come across as “a down to earth top fella” 😀 Thank you so much for making our holidays easier and less expensive Mark. Lots of love from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 xx

I did a bus tour from Vegas to Antelope Canyon a few years back (2018), stopping at the hoover dam, totally worth it, the canyon (I did lower canyon, there is also upper canyon if I remember the name correctly) so beautiful, it was a long day but so rewarding, if like me you are a foreigner who is scared to drive in the US I would recomand it.

One thing to note also about the Dam is that bridge. The bypass bridge you see in those video clips is the largest concrete span in the world. It is ALSO an incredible engineering feet.

We visited Grand Canyon West when we were in Vegas recently. It's not part of the national park system (it's on Native American land), but it's only 2 hours outside Vegas and well worth the trip if you just want to see the canyon in all of its glory. We also stopped by the kitchiest roadside attraction I think I've ever been to about an hour north of Vegas. The Area 51 Alien Visitor Center is at the turnoff to Death Valley, and is every bit as "bad" as it sounds. It's basically a gas station/convenience store/gift shop which sells Area 51 merch. It's located right next door to the Alien Cathouse Brothel, which has to be seen to believe it actually exists. Death Valley is also only 2 hours away and well worth the visit, even if it was 127 degrees on the day we were there and literally melted my wife's shoes.

There are packages that are available to have the company pick you up at your hotel on Strip, take you to their spot at the airport and then fly you over it. They will land and let you take pics for a half hour or so and then take you back. It’s pricey ~$800 per person but I would do it again

I knew a day trip wouldn't do it justice, so spent a week driving around the canyon and related sites and my only disappointment, it was over too quickly. Started in Phoenix -> Sedona -> Grand Canyon Village -> Lake Powell -> Bryce National Park -> Zion Nation Park -> Vegas. Also did a day trip from Vegas to the Hoover dam and West Grand Canyon/Skywalk, and while still an amazing site, was imo the least spectacular.

Las Vegas is a great place for day trips! The day trips to me is the best part of Vegas. You can fun on the strip but get a nice break with nature. Don't forget you are not far from Death Valley. If you rent a car or have your own car Death Valley is a nice way to spent a day.

Big myth that vegas is for booze gambling and sex. No. Many families and couples come to visit for a vacation. Many do free attractions or eat at buffets or restaurants. Many stay at resorts or timeshares and just enjoy family time at the facility
