    Hi, Chanel. I think it’s important to know that the D line of Subte will be closed until march 17th (yes, like 2 and a half months due to some major renovation works). Hope this info is helpful for you and your viewers.

    Villa Crespo and neighbouring Chacarita have become into this new gastronomic boom area, so in that regard you'll have plenty of places to visit in and around that neighborhood. Also the neighbourhood is well connected with the subte, train and many bus lines, so it's a great choice if you find affordable housing. Hope you have a great time in Buenos Aires!

    Hi Chanel, love your channel and the love you show for my city 🫶🏻. Just to add a couple of things, knowing it's impossible to cover this huge city in just one video, near Barrio Chino you'll find the Barrancas de Belgrano park, which is a great place to chill or even have some food from the new barrio chino shops if you order to take away. And this is a way of bringing attention to probably the biggest attraction in BA, which are its parks and squares. Almost all neighborhoods have at least one big square with park space, trees, grass and just space to walk around or sit and relax, and there are big parks not only in Palermo and Recoleta, but also in many other neighborhoods like Saavedra, Urquiza, Belgrano, Chacarita, Caballito, among others (I'll include Puerto Madero's Reserva Ecológica), and it's nice to walk around and explore these places, which often have open markets like the one you talk about in Recoleta but mainly I love them because the bring so much life to this enormous city. Hope you have a great 2024!

    Hi ma'am: I just stopped to remark your post. Wow! What a great job you have done, one of the best I saw about my city, congrats to you. Not for the places you named but the times that would be spended on each one. We people who lives in Belgrano use to say that "Belgrano is a country itself", you can live an entire life without leaving this "Barrio" from toddler to elder... school, university, food, culture, medicine, shopping, banking, wandering around, night life and whatever. I even should say that is better than Palermo to live in and you still be near Palermo. The "D" subway line (green line) will get you (from Belgrano) to Palermo, Barrio Norte, Recoleta, 9th of July Ave, the Obelisc, Florida Street, Downtown, Cathedral, Plaza de Mayo, the Pink House (like US white one), Puerto Madero and one zone you missed. When you are at "Plaza de Mayo" and look to the"Cabildo", with the Pink house at your back an the Cathedral on your right you will see running at Cabildo's right the "avenida de mayo" (May Ave.) one of the most old and historic places in our city, architecture of buildings are amazing there and you'll see the most beautiful dome in our city. But most of all, if you are standing near the "Obelisco" on the "Avenida 9 de Julio" (9th of July Ave.), you will see another avenue crossing it, that will be "Avenida Corrientes" known as the street that never sleeps, full of cinemas, theaters, libraries, the oldest and better "Pizzerías" (pizza places), "Porteña" food style classic restos and most of all you could go there at 4 am and get a good, hot, full of cheese pizza slice with a tasty cold beer. Good job, I hope these help you and others. Te saluda un porteño de ley, mis respetos.

    Great video! My favorite pizzeria in BA is El Cuartito in Recoleta. I'm vegan, but downgrade to vegetarian when I travel. I never had a problem finding vegetarian food in Argentine cities. I plan on living in BA in winter (November to March) when I retire at the end of 2024, spending the rest of the year in London as I have UK citizenship. I have a question: Have prices risen much in BA since Milei devalued the official rate from 340 pesos per US$ to 800 pesos per US$? Like you, I buy my pesos at Western Union. This isn't a problem in BA, where there are hundreds of WU offices, but many Argentine cities have only a few WU's with humongous queues which can take hours to exchange money.

  • @chanelmeyerr

    @chanelmeyerr

    That sounds like an awesome plan! There is an increase in prices that we’ve noticed. For day to day grocery shopping we’ve been spending about the same as before, but when we go out to eat, we notice we’re spending more for the same food. If you’re looking for house supplies and/or technology those prices have soured significantly :/ Getting pesos at western unions in BA is still accessible!

    hey! hello! im a local and you totally forgot to mention the statue of liberty at barrancas de belgrano near barrio chino. This statue is an original copy made by the same artist who made the NY one. In fact, Ours is moths older than the NY one. and its small. Also in Belgrano you can see the Parroquia Inmaculada Concepcion,.a super small church known as La Redonda (because it has circular shape).

    I hope you have fun! I use credit card mostly as I don't get chaarged a foreign transaction fee, I find it to be more convenient because the rate is still very good, and I don't have to worry about carrying that amount of cash too. With restaurants, there is sometimes a ~10% discount if you can pay with cash.

    Hi Chanel - You mentioned that you use the Western Union app, which is my plan on upcoming trip to BA. Had seen somewhere a recommendation to not do more than 200 USD due to locations not having enough pesos on hand. Is that something you've experienced, or found a location where that isnt an issue? I don't necessarily want to go to a Western Union everyday for 2.5 weeks ... Appreciate any insight you can offer in this regard.

  • @chanelmeyerr

    I think that’s a good recommendation, however, we don’t typically have trouble with a western Union not having money as we don’t go to touristy/crowded spots, I think it’ll depend on the time of day and where you go!

    I find it extremely safe! And Palermo is a very safe neighborhood. Use the same street smarts as you would anywhere else though :)

    Hay inseguridad como en muchos países pero no hay tiroteos y masacres como en USA 😢

    I’m not sure where you’re living, but your basic recommendations on food are barely accurate (and I don’t know why you’re pronouncing some of these things the way you are if you live in Buenos Aires and I would hope speak some Spanish). There are loads of vegan and vegetarian restaurants in my neighborhood of Palermo Hollywood alone, I know for sure around Belgrano because I have a vegetarian friend who lives there, and I would assume in plenty of other places. Also, why would you recommend Havana for alfajores? They’re mass produced and only really acceptable if you have to buy a box to pack. I would recommend getting a freshly made one like the ones at Narda Comedor or Lepes.
