it’s funny how the algorithm works.. an hour before seeing this video i texted my boyfriend that i was done trying to make this dream happen because i’ve been so frustrated, trying for years, to grow an audience and feel like a failure year after year. after watching this video and a few other videos of yours i noticed that you give a lot of mindset shifting advice that other “gurus” don’t talk about. your advice reaches beyond just analytics and you have really turned my day around and gave me the motivation to take a new approach with my content and keep making the content that i love and focusing on growing both online and in my everyday life. thank you for this video!!

Edits are dope. Chapters are convenient. Advice is honest and valuable. Audio sounds great. It's crazy how often we have to remind each other to do what we love and stop chasing money. Lol the end of your video is very strong of using hate strategically to qualify a warm, hot lead by annoying the ones you could've never served in the first place

I had to sit down and rewatch this video because I've been feeling incredibly let down and disappointed in my content over the past year or so. It feels like nothing I do has reached my followers, even the ones who regularly engage with my content, and made me question why I share what I share. It absolutely has a lot to do with comparing myself to others, though I try hard not to do that. I've been feeling like nothing on Instagram is worth the time and effort I put in to only reach 40 people when I used to reach a few hundred. While my content has never gained a wide following, it used to be a lot better. The more I think about it, the more I'm realizing that I need to take a step back and have a serious conversation with myself about why I'm doing this, what my goals are, and what I'm going to do next.

i make art and i keep seeing people with way worse art skills are making a living from the social media stuff. i feel really defeated and disappointed for this since my accounts aren't even at 200 yet.

@lightlawliet3526 don't feel you have to become a marketer to sell your art. You are an artist stay an artist and befriend a marketer it will be less stressful if you do not have to learn something you are not passionate about. Plenty of marketers here would be happy to give you free advice myself included but just outsource the marketing and it will be much easier for you trust me marketing is extremely hard and there is a lot of snake oil out there so by making a bunch of marketing friends you'll learn what's right for you by getting all that expert advice

oh same, growing an art account especially right now on instagram feels kinda dire! My last quarter I gained 1 follower in 3 months despite making 5-6 reels a week hahaha. And it's like, I have a webcomic that has over 6K followers on webtoon, but the followers don't travel from one account to another, so my comic instagram doesn't ever exceed 200 followers. Social media right now is sooo weird. I just have to constantly remind myself to make small adjustments over time and focus on the audience I have. So after I do my daily reel (which usually doesn't land whatever) I just hang out in stories where I can at least connect with the people that care. Otherwise it feels a lot like "why am I still doing this?"

I feel you! Same here. I think we need to look at our art differently. Good art cannot be created like a machine like these platforms expect. Also I tend to unfollow artists who just upload every day to be honest coz it gets too much… So I think there is a balance that needs to be created❤ haven’t figured that out yet but that’s my next step. And contrary to what Jade said throwing money at the problem in our case acutually helps. I ran 2 ads on 2 pieces and got amazing feedback. So it’s not your art that is the problem. Sending you love

Thank you so much for this. I've been in denial a bit about struggling with my bookstagram and stagnant growth. I've been trying to hit 1500 followers for two years now, and am close to 1000 but I've been at it for some time and I've always struggled to get growth, mostly because I don't want to show myself in reels. My biggest issue is comparison. I see people who don't do reels at all, and have been here for half the time I have and already have way more followers and can't seem to figure out why when we're all sharing such similar content. This video really has given me ideas to reevaluate and crack on as I'm aware my posts are probably jaded now. Thanks Jade for sharing these tips.

I like this type of motivational/inspirational content from you Jade, especially when you talk about mindset. In one of your much earlier videos, you talked about how you would practice gratitude when you were younger, even before you knew the ‘benefits of having a positive and grateful mindset’… do you remember talking about that in a video? I’d like to hear more about this, more about your mindset etc. Thanks for your great videos, they are helping me. Keep up the great work, it’s been fun to follow your YT journey and cheer on your successes!

I got serious about my instagram and tik tok about three months ago and while I’ve seen progress on tik tok, instagram has had me so frustrated. 😭 I’ve been posting every day only to grow by like two followers a month. I think your videos (and this one specifically) are great, especially for creators where their face is their brand. For me, I work with food brands where the product is the star and budget is very limited, making a lot of the recommendations a little bit difficult to apply. We were growing like crazy until September when our reach and growth came to a full stop and we still have not been able to get out of it. We offer educational content (nutrition/food facts from dietitians), entertainment/inspiration (UGC recipes), inspiration (BTS from our founder and her story) and still nothing. Do you have any recommendations specifically for food brands that do not rely on having an actual person in videos?

The challenge is: you need to be famous to grow, you need to grow to become famous... Our content is great (honestly, it is), but people don't know us yet and the algorithm doesn't help (and why would it? It's not like youtube cares?). So it's a constant struggle to grow.... and yeah, I do compare our content with other similar channels and my gosh, people post garbage! But once you're famous people still love it, and so does the algorithm (obviously).
