    Best advice for anyone that is buying a vehicle like this....Call me (Yamaha Certified Tech) or someone like this guy who knows his stuff. Calling someone like us to look at your vehicle will save you soooo much time and effort. You may pay us a 100 or less but it will save you 1000 $$$$$ ,s of dollars in the long run.. I wish i called someone before i became a tech to come and look at my vehicles befor i bought them...If anything like this guy says you have some advantage when it comes to buying and you will have the satisfaction of going into a purchase with your eyes wide open rather than guessing.. As i said if your going to pay someone get a Model specific Tech..if your getting a Honda then try and get a Honda tech...Done go get a Honda jet tech when your going to buy a Yamaha 4 wheeler.. I tech is better than nothing but Im a marine certified Yamaha tech so i might miss something on the drive train..better to have a model specific tech..As i said if a honda tech is all you have then they at least know basics on 4 stroke engines. Find one that at least has a hobby for them.. Good luck and thanks for this post..

    Hey man not sure if this is a good place to ask you this but, I have a banshee that refuses to start unless I stand it up on the grab bar.... LOL. After standing it up it'll usually start up after 3 or 4 kicks and runs fantastic once started. My only mods are fmf pipes and UNI foam pod filters. Im running a 260 main and a 27.5 pilot with the needle on the 3rd clip. Any ideas why this could be?

  • @kevingalindo1

    Eric Coomer lol that's a good one, check that the float bowls are on the right carbs. The one with a small brass bb facing the engine is the choke bowl. The choke WILL NOT work if the bowls are swapped, the right bowl has no choke circuit. Another thing, check the float height,it's possible it is set way too low. Sounds like it's not getting the fuel it needs, when you stand it on end. Fuel trickles into the carb throats and it fires up.

    John Clutch Really just the 87-90 j arms, calipers, front rock guards, spindles, upper arm (of course), and axle carrier is different than all others. Much harder to find parts for. The 90 also had the same wheel bolt patters front and rear. 4/156 Those are odd balls too. So stay 91 up and you’ll be golden. Remember the 10th digit on the frame tells the year. Have a good one.

    what if the motor just got rebuilt and one side smokes more than the other.....both sides have 165lbs of compression?

  • @kevingalindo1

    @kevingalindo1

    7 жыл бұрын

    TheLorenz4413 That's gonna be a carb synch/air mixture issue. I see that a lot and people try to even it out while it's idling. That really hard to do, oil and fuel accumulates in the pipes and on the pipe walls so a quick turn of the air screw isn't going to change the smoke output right away. Let's say the right pipe is smoking more at idle what you need to do is, 1)First get a baseline, close both air screws and then set them to where the bike runs pretty good. 2) take it for a ride, not a trail ride just down it down the street a few times and air or out good n hard 3) come back and let it idle and look at the smoke output, if the right is still smoking more, open the air screw about half a turn on that carb and close the other about 1/4 turn. Try to split the difference. Try to get the right side to back off some and maybe try getting a little more from the left to even it 4) it won't change while sitting there so take it out again and clean it out and repeat until you've got what you want. **before you do any of this make double certain the float heights are even, high float height WILL do this.
