boot - kernel / ramdisk recovery - custom recovery cache - frequent accessed app data and app components system - ROM OS // used with TWRP system image - complete backup of OS // used with fastboot data (excl) - settings, apps, files baseband - firmware gps wifi bt mobile data nfc (similar to modem) efs - imei number, serial number, mac, etc vendor - oem (like xiaomi) things, need to update when switching to new android release (like from android 9 to 10) IMPORTANT: Restoring baseband, modem, efs without a real reason may brick device for complete nandroid backup BOOT, SYSTEM, DATA are good enough for complete restore good to have atleast one backp with all available except recovery cache and system image

But I ended up messing it anyway! :/ I was installing pixel experience plus rom on my k20 pro, and was following this youtube channel who told to wipe delvik cache, cache, system, vendor, and data, all 5 of these items. When I did that, it was unable to flash the rom, kept giving an error message, "error 7 error installing zip file". I've now lost my MIUI 12 rom, and stuck on fastboot. Can't even get into twrp to restore from the created backup :/

I never told to wipe vendor bro. Moreover that option is not available on my twrp version to show. Don't blame brother. You can check all my videos. But for a suggestion You should never touch the partitions other than cache, dalvik cache, system data, unless you know what you are doing.

@@PhoneTrickzz no bro, i am not blaming you! not at all. I am blaming this other youtube guy (whom I was following), it were his instructions which ended up messing my phone. I was just ranting about it, to share my pain with you, and maybe get a suggestion about how to sort it out! Sorry for the misunderstanding :)

Oh kk. Iam sorry. No worry. But these all are common in rooting world. Bootloop, bricking, flashing again etc etc all are part of the journey. Have you sort out the problem?

If i take backed up fully for my (boot,data,system) with twrp custom recovery. and then I try to do any experiment with my phone like rooting,other custom rom installing or other custom kernel installing and after experiment that if i found some issues and want to re back to my earlier version can i back to that with these backup files?

Can I use data instead so I could restore apps instead of system? Im only just have to reinstall from and bring things back to normal

I don't get why Samsung doesn't have a Backup Persist option, I'm installing custom ROM and the first thing getting fcked up was the sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope etc.. does anyone have Persist in their TWRP?? especially on Samsung?

it is full backup. could brick your device, only use in case if you totally fuk up.

Can I restore efs and modem when I had wiped out everything? And I am in a big problem... I have galaxy note 4. In Stock rom, everything is fine. But when ever I flash a rom, the sim shows no network. And at that time IMEI doesn't show. What can I do.

reflash imei, if baseband null, flash stock rom, u were using before u fked up.

Certain phone only, probably a newest one that have A/B Partition or Dynamic Partition. It is requirements for manufacture now.

Instead of having a dedicated system partition and a dedicated vendor partition, etc. Android 10 uses a super partition.
