This is programming and not a warning. Try to explain to someone that there will never be a PC that starts to live like on TV. All that will then be going through their head are images from films, series, magazines, etc. This is called propaganda. People are bombarded with this rubbish and have been for a long time. The aim is to make people believe that there is an all-knowing machine that analyses everything purely logically, without feelings etc. But logic is not possible without feelings and it is also impossible for a PC to be alive. Aborted fetuses are incinerated as medical waste. There has been a few instances where stem cells where taken from fetuses, but they are basically indefinitely replicable. They don't need to harvest new stem cells.

Actually being able to grow skin and attach it to a artificial structure that can move like an equivalent human part is a huge boon to the prosthetics industry at making more natural looking prosthetics and being able to synthetically grow more skin would benefit burn treatment among other treatments that currently rely on skin grafs. There are uses for a lot of stuff that the propagandists either left or right would call "unnecessary" but such talk runs counter to the core tenants of human society of constantly pushing barriers.

Whose to say that this wasn't developed in parallel with being able to help burn victims or grow skin for use on prosthetics? Putting it on a robot likely makes it easier to develop with less red tape and thus cost until you are ready to make that leap into applying this tech to a medical application.
