I sold 2000 worth of skins for 1000 in march because of an energy bill - its brutal seeing the prices go up now but its only a weeks wage at the end of the day (valves the real hero when it comes to making money off me - via case opening lol). Only really had oni taji, player one and shadow daggers as worthy skins but they all probably went up because of the new base of users wanting to buy/re-buy skins grrrr

@@Chexsum Gambling is risky, opening Valve cases is illogical. Having to sell pixels to pay for your bills ain't a bad thing, it's the exact opposite. I know a guy that made 10k (worth over 100k now) in one night, starting with ~200€. From 12am to 7am, he had zit. You shouldn't even open Valve's cases, nor should you feel bad or complain for losing profit over your own gluttony / ignorance. You might feel mad for having to sell 2k worth of skins, but also remember the vast majority wouldn't even reach 1k gambling, much less have the ability to use it to pay for real shxt

Its important to look at 3rd Party markets as well because cases also had a dip of people cashing out there. The demand on the steam market for cases just seems to outspike that by far because many people arent familiar with these market places

Another possible explanation on why cases are doing well might be the fact that the release of the beta (!) pumped up the demand for cases like crazy and the same behaviour was expected by many people that are now investing in cases (=higher demand) as cs2 release was righr around the corner.

To be honest mid/high tier knifes are just ridiculusly expensive. How can you justify 1k euro plus for mid butterfly?

I've spoken about this before on the market forum sub but it's worth mentioning agaian. The stars were all aligned for cases to gain stonks at the CS2 launch and they may still do so. What we didn't expect was the antihype around game performance and netcode performance to negatively affect the playerbase. I had planned on dumping a number of older Prisma and Clutch but I'm now HODLing instead. My expectation is for upcoming patches to fix most of the complaints, followed by an operation. Looks like the near to mid term isn't looking like making bank, but it's also not dipping for cases right now....which is a good thing.

@@VrodegTheGoblin717 In my opinion, yes. I can't see how CS2 would be abandoned y development and should hopefully be built up to something more respectable. Cases should keep rising as they did before but without the massive boost of a successful launch.

I think the cases jump also has to do with how drops changed.. made it a hiccup for case farming accounts to get cases… considering you now have to select the reward you want as drop..

Most people start to behave like shot chicken when something bigger happens, just do the opposite of them. Most held on to Paris Stickers, I just sold mine 1 day before CS2 release and bought in right after, I almost doubled in Paris Stickers now^^

Another hot topic about cases: before, you could not choose what you would Drop from the weekly drops. Now you can, and you need to level up 3 times to do so. Back in the day, you could set your account to just login in the game and get the drops, it's alot harder to do it now.

its harder to transfer a texture like the printstream over to a new model cause they have different uv maps. A skin like safari mesh is basically just an image they slap onto the model.

I got 130k cases worth over €100k, been holding them (only selling once they reach 1€ to buy cheaper but still only rare cases) since 2015 when i only had a few hundreds in cases, and yeah I'm not panic selling. The last couple years have hardened me, I've watched my cases lose 30-40% of their value many autumns just for them to 4x the spring after, over and over again. This is no different. Although I'm not greedy, I always tell my friends who every summer tell me to sell that I'll see them in 10 years in my private jet with the cs2 logo on it. Probably won't have a jet in 10 years, but I'll still have my cases :)

Selling your case investments to buy operation stars just isn’t smart. I’ll be mass buying if the prices drops in an operation

Price gouging took over this year and I refuse to pay 3x the price of knife or gloves considering what the prices were before the CS2 hype.

I doubled my money on a phase 2 doppler huntsman over about a year after the update to them and then grabbed some games and a talon damascus which shot up 250aud in 2 days. I'm chilling.

Theory: CS2 wasn't going to boost high-tier skins. A player does not normally start a new game and puts thousands in. That's why items up to about 20$ do well.

People are selling off their investments that they expected to skyrocket when SC2 launched, I think this was somewhat expected.

I'm hoping valve either updates the old skins as they look like shit with the old models having gaps in the meshes and overall lower polys. I just got back into the game after a few years and I'd much rather have my spraypaint camo on the new gun model than some high effort skin on a pisspour model

So many streamers are open almost if not thousands of them daily. It is getting out of control, they’re lowering the drops from everyone else. Oh well.

Imo there are new players who are buying New skins, but as they are new to the game, they don't want to spend Thousands of dollars on skins, they buy cheaper ones. Maybe with time they gonna Invest more, as they get familiar with this economy and got more invested in the game

Brotherman it's not just a little bit of negative sentiment. The game was no where near a realease-ready state. It feels horrible and valve have no excuse to prematurely launch it. The position they were in is a dream for most devs. Main game still one of the biggest in the world whilst at the same time having a very large playerbase for your beta allowing you to refine your game. Please don't minimize cs2's massive flaws and valves mistake(s).

All you need to do is realize cases drop weekly for every cs2 user now and its a no-brainer to take the case because its saleable. First thing I said when I noticed the new weekly drop was cases are going to drop in price because of it. Valve sets the rarity and always has but this will put an end to the inflation of cases on the steam market. It will suck if anyone has invested in cases just like when people invested in keys.

@@Chexsum Bruh, it's just today's logic. The majority of people do the opposite of what's logical. Most said cases would go down with CS2, but those who kept quiet knew that it was a lie. Also, this system doesn't change anything. Only those with prime get drops, and it was that way before. The only difference is your ability to choose between the trash (graffiti ; 2 weapons). The reality is, going down or up, cases will probably never be the petty 3cents they were before. You get a random graffiti or weapon + case drop every week you rank up the first time for years now, this doesn't change anything.

Got community banned the second time, for writing a single comment. I just reminded someone to accept the sold item on csgo float, which I needed for a trade up. Thx valve from preventing people using your features, while actual cheaters and scammers are nearly being ignored...

Did you PAY for CSGO when it fist came out and now it's gone?, you can submit a complaint to your federal consumer commission for theft of a paid product. Submit a support ticket outlining your concern and give valve 7 days to respond with a legal reason why they deleted your product. If they do not respond (they wont cause they know they are committing fraud) ... you can report to .gov. for deletion of paid game and data without permission.. don't let valve corp get away with it! - they only try cause no one complains. Corporate theft is a crime
