The designer is Stephen May, he posted on his IG his thoughts on the finished product. I absolutely love it. Oh! And he said the inspiration was a human fused with a spore mine.

Oh, that's awesome, didn't realise it was Stephen's work. He left FW a while back and is kicking it solo as Dead Earth Miniatures and is making stuff that is essentially 3rd Party Necromunda stuff, which is great, but makes seeing his "leftover" stuff coming out now makes me wonder what the future holds.

I think a malstrain broodlord would be horrific.

What I love about it is that it's relatively subtle for a Warhammer mini. The only thing that hints it's a Genestealers model is the crest, and even then I didn't immediately catch on.

The tentacle looks like it replaced the bone inside the arm and then exploded out, with the skin of the original arm just hanging in strips.

I love it when there are models that make people go, "This is disgusting, please show me more."

Reminds me of that Demonic Tyranid from the old White Dwarf article showcasing conversions for the free demon prince upgrade when fighting against Grey Knights.

Makes me think of the Infested Marines in Star Craft type of mutation and I wouldn’t be surprised if the designer might have taken some inspiration from that.

Though he dressed like a Rogue Trader, the premonition exhibited in this song leads to his possible recategorization as a very early Psyker.

Going by the carapace, this looks like this thing looks like it tried to grow a Zoanthrope out of a malstrain infected human and went horribly wrong.

This is much more of what i and all gc fans wanted i believe. Its so good and they should play with the idea of mutations/evolutions a lot more. I want to see an elite squad of troopers that instead of normal armour are just covoured in carapace and are the equivalent of stormtroopes maybe

Tyranids heard the Imperial Guard like Chimera's, and without understanding what one is, they sent this guy in undercover.

This is what Warhammer needs a lot more of. Not only this type of a sculpts specifically, but they clearly had more genuine fun instead of playing it safe. Someone in the design department clearly has had enough and it's great. Bring back the grim, the dark and the twisted horror that the world of Warhammer is. Good video btw 🤝

About time that Stealers got some more actual body horror stuff

this thing makes me think. someone just fell into a spawning vat in the middle of a hive city in a genestealer cult (something i kinda wrote for a necromunda based wrath and glory game i was running) someone fell in and the rippers inside just started eating and as they ate the guy started mutating and growing in different directions ending up in a malformed monster that has no real direction or cause.

I think the other important thing is that this coincides with a GSC 40K release and development of Secundus lore, so I am hopeful for much more GSC Necromunda material.

I love that the Tyranids and Tyranid-adjacent factions are getting some models that make them look as alien and taxonomically incomprehensible as they deserve to be. Growing up in the 90's I naturally fell in the love with the colourful and diverse look of the 2nd edition Tyranids, and remember the excitement around the updated look of the army in 2001. I slowly fell out of love with the more coherent and anatomically conservative look of those 3rd to 6th edition models. Though I understood the thematic logic of making hive "insects" look fairly cogent and interchangeable, at the same time always felt that Tyranid hives are near-infinitely more compounded and monstrous phenomena, their social structure (which in-of-itself is a very human concept being desperately applied to something far more complex than any social structure humanity can collectively fathom) and biology ought to be ultimately unfathomable, that any ontological gain in understanding the Tyranids is immediately levelled by a thousand more unanswerable questions and appalling revelations.

Oh, a Chaos Spawn model. Nice. It looks like something from the early art. 10/10, now let's bring back the Chaos models with tentacle arms.

Reminds me a bit of the alien from Torchwood Children of Earth - the creepy looking one with a kidnapped small human child built into it’s body (which gave the alien a drug high). Great weird looking model this new one.

It looks like whoever designed this is a huge fan of the Thing, Alien, HP Lovecraft, Dead Space, and possibly an entire spectrum of mind altering chemical substances. Needless to say, I absolutely love it

Seriously, I want one so bad. I don't play Necromunda, but I want so badly to paint this wretched monstrosity and have it writhing in unmoving anguish. Top marks.

I really love this model, and I really love how it shows that even the Tyranids aren't completely immune to the horrors of the setting. This is NOT what the hive mind had planned here. Victory, great. Death, who cares? But this? This is NOT within a million miles of the grand plan. I wish we could see more little crossovers like this. Ork genestealer hybrids, chaos corrupted eldar, flayed ones wearing tau bits rather than human ones. Just to show that while we mostly hear about these horrors clashing with the Imperium, the other factions aren't safe and nor are they safe from each other.

This looks like a Chaos infected Tyranid strain.

Looks much more like the floaty Zoanthrope than a Genestealer to me... either way, I now want one to model as a twisted gun servitor in a Dark Mechanicum warband, firing psychic blasts and looking awful.

Okay, so... If my understanding of the lore is correct, Space Marines, when clearing out Space Hulks, wear terminator pattern armour not so much due to the ever present genestealers, but because of the various enviromental hazards that you encounter in a dimension-swapping space shipwreck. These hazards include, but are not limited to, hard radiation of all kinds, biological contaminants (orkoid spores), chemical spills, Aedlari traps, warp energies, Chaos energies, doors, gunfire, plasma discharges, flamer fire, and the vacuum of hard space. Wearing anything less than termie armor will absolutely be a death sentance. The genestealers that travel on space hulks are subject to the same enviromental hazards but are generally 'fine' or 'healthy'. Insofar a xenos can be considered 'healthy'. In any case, they can survive the conditions of a space hulk for years if not centuries without major mutation. If the above understanding is correct... _How are Hive cities _*_worse_*_ than Space Hulks as far as mutation is concerned?!_

When Necromunda is more Warhammer than 90% of what Warhammer has been releasing in recent years. We need more of this, this is utterly grimdark and horrible! Perfection, not cartoony like Nurgle Plaguemarines. Designers doing Necromunda need a raise and more work! I want it! I think it was meant to be an infected psyker from Delaque gang!

This miniature is gonna be made even MORE awesome when some, sick, twisted no filter and no fux artist gets let loose on it...... I cant wait

Definitely resin, you can tell by the carapice that is rougher than the plastic kits. Other than that it is the perfect model have been waiting for adding some true body horror to the Genestealers.
