What the hell did we actually just witness?
Спорт
Tonight as the Ottawa Senators hosted the Florida Panthers, we had ourselves the Tkachuk bowl and boy, it did not disappoint. This game had 167 penalty minutes handed out!! Several line brawls and at one point, EVERY player on the ice received a misconduct, something I have NEVER seen before. From start to finish, this was old time hockey and I loved every second of it. I cover it all in todays NHL video!

It was a wild game, but another sweet note for the game was that Lomberg's grandfather a military vet was in the stands and was honoured on the jumbotron. Since they changed the rule (two seasons ago now?) on offside, there have been some calls that don't make much sense to those of us who think of it as a simple rule. This isn't the first time and it won't be the last. I wish they would go back to something that makes more sense. It shouldn't become the next coin toss rule like goaltender interference.

Absolutely loved this game. Of course, for the third period, but there was a ton going on in the whole game. Also, a shut out for Bob which is great, and beating up on the crappy Sens was just icing on the cake. This was great old-time hockey.
Good old-fashioned hockey I miss it. If the Toronto Maple Leafs played with this kind of intensity, they’d be sitting on top of the league right now, but that’s never gonna happen. Don Cherry would’ve loved this game.

Back when it wasn't all about getting paid and more about the passion. Watching Domi or Clark get into a fight was amazing and fun to watch. These little scrums are just a pansies way of looking "tough". You'd never find guys like Domi, Clark, McSorley, May, Probert, etc ever turtle in a scrum/fight, especially after a cheap shot.

Teams need to start exploiting that offside rule, just lift your stick in the air so you’re not touching the puck as you cross the blue line and you should never get called offside.
I will ALWAYS circle sens vs cats on the calender! Absolute chaos
Awesome coverage of a wild ride... lol
There was a precedent for this misconduct fest, actually. in the 70s or early 80s, because of the massive amounts of line and bench brawls, the NHL had instituted a rule that mandated misconduct penalties for anybody who dropped their gloves after the initial fight broke out. Kerry Fraser told a funny story in his book about being the poor bastard who had to enforce that rule after a fight, and everyone picked a dance partner. 😅
A glimpse of good ol time hockey😅
Grandma Tkachuk was definitely unimpressed.

This is not the same as hockey was. Scrums happened but they were nothing. Today, these scrums are considered fights, which is sad. You also didn't have players taking cheap shots and then turtle when someone challenges you for it. Today's game is definitely not the same, which truly sucks.

Firing coaches is how GMs make it look like they’re doing something. Look at Edmonton, Woodcroft had something like 80-40 w-l in his tenure and still got canned. Look what happened… it’s a stupid thing that happens in the league but coaches are the easiest to fire so 🤷🏼♂️
@AHockey1993

@CalgaryDynastar I agree that in Edmonton's situation, they probably should have given Woody more rope. But Ottawa has a decent lineup on paper, and they look lifeless out there. Edmonton at least still played well (when looking at the underlying metrics), but Ottawa is middling, and even bottom-10 in most advanced stats when they have players who are better than this. I think it points to a coaching issue
