Another great video explaining operation of the Edge spreader. Back in my comments about the 720 overheating, my first guess was the fan was on backwards. Happy to get the 720 in working condition. I've came across this problem a few times. I was hoping to see the Class 8900 combine test against the Fendt 10T. Have a very Happy Holidays and a belated a Happy Birthday.

Thx for the post, Mike. Always enjoy! An Observation: I would REALLY avoid touching or breathing in dust from ANY herbicide or insecticide. I cringed when you grabbed up some EDGE for viewers to see. Short term, yeah, probably no biggie. Long term exposure is the issue. Sun and chemicals... a farmer can't go back in time and undue the adverse effects.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one which thought about this title in the wrong way

Mike goes old school and shows off his antiques... we had a harrow bar just like that. Those knuckles are prone to crack and break. The best story I have about coil packers is when a bearing would fail and suddenly there was a coil sitting in the field by itself.

Good ole Flexi-Coil green. Do you know how many green frames I painted at the old factory when they made those black coils and green frames? I once spent a whole summer cutting the pipe for the frames. I cut the large pipes two at a time. I went to university in the winter. It was a summer job. My Uncle Emerson had an idea for the coil when he saw his son rolling an old car spring in the sand. My father was asked by Emerson one day what they should call the coil. My father had a notebook on his shop desk. The name of the notebook was "Flexi-Coil". Now you know where the name comes from. By the way, Flexi-Coil was sold to New Holland in the late 1990's. Flexi-Coil was sold for a "whack" of money. I was not part of the family working at "the Coil". I was in Calgary. The Friggstads were bought out by Flexi-Coil in Frontier. They were great innovators. There is much more to the story but it was a successful business when the main factory in Saskatoon expanded to close to 2000 workers. They had a numbers of different shifts. Of course I do not know the whole story but the early years were interesting.

Farmers are the mothers of invention. Great to see your recycling of an old machine. Nice to hear your description of a discer! I grew up about 100 miles north of Speedy Creek. That was all we used for seeding!

Good educational video there Mike! Thanks! I was actually mentioning the educational videos vs time and ability to edit them. Sometimes you dont get the time to go into a lot of detail. I am more a hands on type and I am itching to learn more especially about the chemical use and crop rotations. Things that are typically a general and basic discussion on the videos because there is just simply not enough time for details.

We use core lubricants for our chains and cables. Its safe for oring chains also. Buddy is the foreman for roughrider rigging (benmore/saturn industries) in saskatoon. We get our lube from them. Best stuff out there

Well well That's funny, just learned that our birthday is on the same day ;) Oct 8th :)

We pulled 3 massey 360s 16' (i think they are) in piggy back. They came in 3 different lengths. We pulled it with our case 4490 traction king with duals

I seeded many an acre with a MF 36 and 360. If you could get over your acres fast enough you got a good kill of wild oats with them. Harrow packed a lot of acres for a press drill too.

Hi Mike, with the size of your farm do you have an agronomist/agrologist to help make make decisions and recommendations? Do you and your brother work together to decide on what gets seeded where and acres of each crop. Farm decisions never end, planning next years crop starts as you are in the combine taking off the previous crop. This is an old video as you said, today is vote day, make sure and vote the “right” way. 😃😃

Harrow/packers were popular here when air seeders were popular. I get taking the packers off but why take the harrows off? Alot of Degleman harrows have Valmars on them.
