Sajin and Tosen are some of the most underrated characters in the series. Both are very well written and their stories are both great and tragic.

I think it is more with Tousen, there's this tension between Aizen and Gin. And spoiler: Aizen knew Gin was up to something And there's this additional materials from the light novels about why Aizen killed Tousen

The way Bleach can build this up across hundreds of episodes and deliver pay offs like this is incredible.

I'm not sure if this will be addressed in a future sequel (hell arc), I don't think so, so I'll clarify why Tousen called Sajin ugly. Bleach's concept of reincarnation and life cycle is extremely based on Buddhism's Samsara, where there is the animal/beasts realm, very similar to hell, and the beings that are born in this kingdom are stained by sins and driven by their instinct and impure impulses. In Bleach all we know about Komamura is that he isn't from the same place as the other Soul Reapers and that Genryusai has accepted and welcomed him to the soul reaper academy, but Sanjin and his clan probably belong to the beast kingdom. That was why Tousen, upon seeing Sajin's true appearance, felt disgusted and called him ugly, as his appearance is that of a being whose soul is stained by sins.

[Tidbits & Clarifications] - Tosens resurrection looks like a Cricket, which is intentional given that it's also the translated name of his Zanpaktou. It's also a metaphor for him falling to the monstrous side of revenge, at what point does the means not justify the ends. Tosen has a Just cause however, the amount of Injustice he has to commit to achieve it dirties his argument...which is shown physically. - Tosen being a blind character has obvious poetic implications revolving around his character. A big one being that he could see things clearer when he was blind, the justice he saw and seeked made him blind to the ramifications of his actions. - We actually get additional content in the Light novels that better express what happened to Tosen's friend and it makes Tosen's hatred against the Soul Society much more understandable. (I could tell you but it's possible that it may be adapted in the future) - We also get more Info regarding why Aizen killed Tosen at the moment in the Light Novels - Sidenote, Ichigo actually has used instant regeneration, it occurred after his battle with Ulquiorra. This puts Ichigo and Tosen on a separate level of Hollowfication than the Vizards. [Reposted]

Actually he said they can use bankai with their mask, not that they can combine resurrection and bankai because the former makes the sword disappear fusing it with the body. Plus visored only powered by the hogyoku, the visored we know can’t even keep the mask for three minutes let alone a resurreccion

@@almightygod2144 doesn't mean at the same time, hollowfied means with the mask on. So with the mask on you can both use bankai and hollowfy, which means you can do either.

It is possible to use both Bankai and Resurreccion while Hollowfied. Both of them, at the same time. Is English not your first language? Then I could understand your misunderstanding.

@@almightygod2144 It's not my first language but I understand it, the question was "using both bankai and resurreccion while hollowfied?" hollowfied means the mask, to activate the resurreccion you need to have the mask on, bankai can be used with the mask (as Ichigo proved even if he is not an actual visored). The same time was about the mask in one case or another, not about resurreccion and the bankai, because to use bankai you need to release the sword, while resurreccion requires to fuse with the sword obtaining the hollow form which grants an entirely different power from the bankai. It might be possible with a dual wield in my opinion, but not in this case. Even those who update the wikia trivial with kubo's answers states the same, just saw.

According to Aizen in the novel. Killing Tosen is mercy, just like what he did with Momo. Tosen wouldn't be able to live with himself after. Tosen was the one that asked him to obliterate him if he realise he was in the wrong.

Aizen was keeping a promise to tosen by killing him. Its explained in LN. Tosen asked aizen to kill him if he ever sympathize with a soul reaper. Aizen was never happy to kill tosen.

This was such a good reaction. I like how invested and emotional you got. The author (Kubo Tite) did a good job building up these characters and their relationship, but most people brush it aside because they prefer other characters.

Shinji's Sakanade is one of my favorite Zanpakuto 4:28 I mean Ichigo's Hollow healed the giant hole in his chest way back in EP 272, so he has the ability, my guess is that he just doesn't know how to use it, but it's also somewhat of a rare power for Hollows and Ulquiorra said that most discard the ability to increase their strength. 12:45 I guess he's supposed to be a cricket, not sure why he has orange slices for eyes though lol (Also he should not be calling people ugly, at least not when he looks like that) Komamura is such a good character.

Well, it's really Ichigo's Hollow Powers that heal him. And he doesn't have total control over those yet at this point in the story. [REDACTED] only healed the big hole in Ichigo's chest because it would've taken him down too if he didn't.

Aizen was actually merciful when he killed Tosen, it was his way to show respect to the man he knew.

I know it's fucked up But I always laugh when Tosen just explodes into a red mist, just how fucking sudden it is and how serene the atmosphere is right before it, the sudden shift just sends me even if I am absolutely in my feels before it.

SPOILERS BELOW Interesting, but the reason why Aizen killed Tosen was because Tosen himself asked him to. During their partnership, Tosen said that if Aizen feel that Tosen ready to forgive Soul Society then Aizen have to kill him immediately. You can learn it from Bleach novel "Can't fear your own world" Funny, isn't it? What looked like Aizen's act of cruelty is actually one of his few acts of nobility.

The whole dynamic between those two in their fight was perfect. Komamura was willing to do everything to save Tousen to help him see the light in things. Made me wish Tousen survived in the end but we know why its complicated.

I love Komamura he’s one of my favorite non spotlight captains but his bankai is such a liability cause he trades his ability to dodge for overwhelming power so if anyone is incredibly fast he’s pretty much done for because of the huge target his bankai creates i kind of wish it was like the susanoo from naruto to make him more relevant in combat

Ok that's it you are so wrong in many things that I have to finally come to the comments , except toshiro, soifon and komamura not a single one is using their Bankai everything is not a Bankai it's Shikai SHIKAI why do you forget that. Also thing on shinjis tongue is just a piercing that people from our world also put on their tongues as well.

Tousen had to die one way or another, this is just a small spoiler from novel that Tousen's death was destined no matter the outcome of the war. I'm not going to reveal why he was meant to die no matter what, there's a novel called "Can't Fear Your Own world" which has explained Tousen's backstory as well as how Hisagi confronts the man who killed Tousen's friend.

With that many middling episode that just coasts and with the episodes just trying to stretch the source material, the peaks are kinda diluted. If they remade Bleach by condensing all the materials properly and pacing the events - it would be as good as any peak anime we are getting now. Although, the same applies to other Big 3 anime as well.

Not a spoiler, but just so you know aizens level, he’s not using bankai. He’s only been using his Shikai the whole time. I know it may get confusing seeing how powerful he is with only using shikai, so it only makes sense to initially think he’d be using bankai.

It was Tosen requested to Aizen to kill him.
