My impressions as a Swede are that we see Germany as a very dear friend to us. We sure have a special bond with the Nordic countries, but Germany is also special to us. We think Germany is very similar to Sweden with like values, governing & political stuff. Which probably explain why these people don’t have much to say about Germany, that’s a good thing 😂 but sure we’re very impressed by all the athletes and the German winner mentality. We joke about bringing the German tap water into Sweden sometimes, to get Swedes that winner mentality. We also like German football and think it’s the best country to host a World Cup for example. Because it’s a very nice country, with nice people & fans really passionate about football. And they also have good beer (like many mentioned) and nice places to drink beer and socialize with people 🇩🇪🤝🇸🇪

we are pretty much the same, we both strive for high quality product, and to follow rules that is made to achive high effeceny and economy like reclying, they make cars, we make cars, they make military stuff, we make military stuff, we both strive and take pride in the products we produce, and as a swede, i see germany and japan at number 1 when it comes to creating quality products, and we swede hope we are seen amongst these two nation as a worthy contender of top quality and orderd society. the immigration we had last years has created abit of a problem, but hopefuly this issue can be dealt with and we can return to normality.

@@SoulF15no, Northern Germany and nearby regions is the source of the proto-germanic ppl and/or culture. they/this then spread to north and other regions (other migrations from the north back were much later). proto-celtic btw, spread from the southern german/austrian regions (especially hallstatt) through europe. the main reason for that is that the area in and nearby today Germany was always in a kind of geographical interface position/center ...

@@SoulF15 It's simple. The Indo-European people, who began to pronounce some sounds differently than their neighbors (becoming Germanic), were originally located in the territory of modern southern Scandinavia and Jutland, including the German part. As the population increased, these people began to migrate to the territory of continental Europe, forming most of the modern states after the fall of the Roman Empire, or at least providing the prerequisites for their creation. Arguing about the “true Germanics” - Scandinavians or Germans - is as stupid as arguing about the “true Slavs” (the Slavic ancestral home is located between Ukraine and Poland) or the “true Celts”. Proximity to the ancestral home doesn't make any particular people, which appeared many hundreds of years after the division of the ancestral people, don't make this people “true”. An example from a different area, but useful for understanding: who is a “true German”: a Stuttgarter or a Colognian? Or who is a “true Englishman”: a Yorker or a Mancunian or a Southamptonian? Imagine that Germany miraculously splits into several states after many thousands of years, and the people of Stuttgart and Cologne will argue about which of them is the real German. So here, the Scandinavians and Germans are both “true Germanics” and also far from them. a) There is no original people anymore; b) Both peoples descended from the original people. Even the Crimean Goths, assimilated by the 17th century, would've been the same “true Germanics” as the villagers from rural Norway or Germany.
