How do they understand each other when half of the syllables are mumbled out

Interesting question. I would say that you have to practice hearing the nuances. But to be fair, Sofie and I sometimes have to listen multiple times to the same sentence before we understand all the words :)

Maybe I’d like to think of danish as an uber-efficient language. Why pronounce the entire word halvdelen when you can pronounce it as hen?

@@SouthPark333Gaming Well, to me it is... I think this is the tenth language I am trying to learn (a bit of) and it's the one I have most trouble with after Arabic, so far. What is your own native language?
Det er så dejligt at I forsætter med at lave videoer på dansk!!! Tusind tak igen.

Norwegian is actually Danish with a swedish accent (Norway was under Danish rule for almost 800 years and then 150 under Sweden before independence(the years are a rough estimation).

Actually Danish has had an effect on Norwegian which is the reason Norwegian has two forms: bokmål (closest to Danish. It means Book Speech) and nynorsk (New Norwegian). Nynorsk is, as I understand it, how Norwegians spoke in the rural areas of Norway.
Very interesting that I can pick up random words because I learnt German... Although there are so many different vowels that I can't even tell each syllable apart. 😂

Mein Ohr kann diese halben Laute überhaupt nicht auffangen - total frustrierend! Es ist einerseit so nah am Deutschen dran, und zugleich so weit weg. Ich war noch nie in Dänemark und wusste gar nicht, wie das klingt. Irgendwie nett, aber hören kann ich nur einen Klangbrei. Von der Aussprache her muss das wahnsinnig schwer zu lernen sein.
Tack för videon! :)

Oh my God, does this language really have anything to do with its written form at all? Danes need a new script for sure 🙂
@Trullatz

Once you learn the spelling rules, and grammar, it makes as much sense as the English writing system. So many letters are written in English that are silent. The same with Danish (though I do agree that Danish is a bit more intense with its written form, for example: "pige - girl" is pronounced as "pi" ahah. But there is a schwa at the end of it, but untrained ears can't really hear it). It would be cool if it had it's own script though ahah. There's a such thing as Danish runes that were used in the Viking era, and later on as well. But they're not too practical. And, the letter "å" is a pretty recent letter for the Danish language (and the other Nordic languages), Used to be "aa", not "å". Anyway, it all makes sense with time.
It looks like norwegian! How could i identify them?
@MC-Racing
4 жыл бұрын
In writing, they are super similar, almost impossible to destinguish unless you are perfectly literate in one of the languages. I'm Danish, and a lot of descriptions on products have norwegian and danish together the swedish and anglish also.

@@MC-Racing you really don't have to be perfectly literate in either language to be able to distinguish written Danish and Bokmål. From my experience, just having a very basic knowledge of both is enough to see patterns between the two (Bokmål having a k where Danish would have a g, i instead of j, Bokmål doubling consonants after short vowels, that kind of stuff)
Ich als Deutscher: Bitte sprechen Sie deutlicher! 😂

Danish written: Dansk er et nordgermansk sprog af den østnordiske (kontinentale) gruppe, der tales af ca. seks millioner mennesker. Danish spoken: de a o iit aoit ul na t ol ti in het' a i te o iit aoit ul Despite seeing the written Danish I could not link it with what is being spoken. Danish is a funny language :D
