"Class Pays", huh!!!!! Isn't that the PACCAR catch phrase/ ad motto, for Peterbuilts. You pay, but they don't reciprocate with the equivalent in quality. A piece of equipment that easily runs into 6 figures, and a monthly payment amount that could support a middle class family of three, at a point just above the Federal Government poverty guidelines. The monetary equivalent of a 3 bedroom 2 car integral garage 1500 square foot raised ranch on a suburban quarter acre in America's Midwest 25 years ago. Yes, I would have that rig back at the dealership the following day, especially with the clutch issue!!! C'mon PACCAR, this is no way to build, and deliver a Peterbilt, to a customer in this day and age. I have listened to driver after driver, or owmer/operators bemoaning the low quality of product coming from the factories 🏭 of Class 7, and 8 manufacturers and like other areas and aspects of American manufacturing, this needs to end!!!!! We have already witnessed what I told my family and friends 40 years ago, that would happen, if we keep exporting manufacturing overseas, that we will become dependent upon the sources and infrastructure/shipping that we have little or no control over!!!!! The pandemic is the preview. YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THE MAIN ATTRACTION, BUT IT IS ON IT'S WAY.

And that doesn't include...what did they screw up that you can't see or haven't caught yet? If they stripped a bolt for the air cleaner, who is to say they didn't do the same on a suspension or steering part?.... Or a few cab bolts that hold it to the frame?.... Or loose engine mounts.....or a badly aligned transmission. This could be a bad rabbit hole to go down.

How can it be a pleasure to drive if the clutch is wrong? "it's impossible to move"
@oliver_klozoff2 жыл бұрын
The clutch problem is actually quite common here recently with peterbilts. There's an alignment/installation pin on the adjuster for the clutch that wasn't removed when they installed it. I have this happen to one of the new trucks we picked up. You better get that taken care of, if you don't drive it too long they'll put a whole new clutch in it for you for free.
@mikegrazio5376
2 жыл бұрын
what are you talking about? the wedge??? yes the wedge was removed. In fact it would have just fell out once the clutch was first depressed. Second, that truck wasnt air lifted into the parking lot. it was driven many times before making it to parking lot. The issue seems to be that the clutch linkage arm going to bell housing was never adjusted properly for clutch brake. making it difficult to get into first gear. !0 minute fix
@oliver_klozoff
2 жыл бұрын
@@mikegrazio5376 what are you in the 1970s? No there is a pin that locks the auto adjuster in place for assembly as these are shipped to the line as units. It's meant to be removed when bolted to the engine and when left in will not let the adjuster do its job. Being out of adjustment will (in our case) not let you use the clutch brake, and after a little wear and Peterbilt insisting there was nothing wrong, made the clutch mostly inoperative. Finally got it to a real Peterbilt mechanic in Elko and he warrantied the clutch. Next truck we ordered had the same problem, but the pin was removed from the inspection plate and it was saved.... QA is really lacking on their assembly lines.

YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THE MAIN ATTRACTION, BUT IT IS ON IT'S WAY.

why would you leave the dealer with those things wrong with it?
Well if you found them issues there's more you haven't seen yet Good luck
Welcome to the "new normal"...where everything is built like garbage because no one cares anymore about building quality. Those are issues that do not fly on a truck built to work every day.
I wouldn't have taken delivery of it, I woulda walked back in the dealership brought a salesman out and told them to fix it.
How can it be a pleasure to drive if the clutch is wrong? "it's impossible to move"
@mikegrazio5376
2 жыл бұрын
what are you talking about? the wedge??? yes the wedge was removed.
@oliver_klozoff
