Mr. Facts, you would rock as a parent. That’s because you can laugh. The most important part of parenting is realizing that so much of what they do is done out of age related stupidity and not evilness. The harder part is learning how not to laugh out loud when you are supposed to be sternly administering appropriate consequences to inappropriate behaviors. I could fill one of your videos with hysterical stories of raising my son and what all he and his buddies got into. One story ends with me yelling, “No! NO BEAR PORN!!!”

idk if it counts as a story and i was the kid, but when i was 15 my parents found me getting groomed into some really bad stuff on forums. had been going on for years. luckily them finding that enabled me to get help and i'm recovering from that kind of abuse!! (also, for any parents- don't be overprotective or stalk your kid's social media. that kind of thing caused me to be secretive to try and get some freedom, which made it easier for me as a little kid to be taken advantage of.)

I’ve got a couple questions plus a story of my own Question 1: How’s your TMJ? I know how much having it sucks, so it broke my heart when I found out that the ball of personified sunshine himself Mr.Facts has to deal with it too. Question 2: How do you stay so positive and motivated? You post all the time and I just can’t wrap my mind around using your voice that much. Story: I’m the kid in this one, and I personally think my folks overreacted. I was up late on a night during one of my school’s breaks, fall I think, and was writing a bit of fanfiction on a website I frequented at age 12. I was 12-13 so it was pretty cringey from a writing standpoint, but nothing more than one character calling another darling and kissing the other character on the cheek. My ex stepdad came in and caught me up, made me hand over my tablet, and then the next morning my mom started reading the stuff I’d written aloud to the household. Needless to say, I was mortified and now I don’t share anything I do online with either of them.

That is a bit much and I have a child who's now an adult. My son had made some inappropriate comments online to a person who may not have been a kid, and he couldn't use the computer for 3 weeks. I think in your case I would not have punished You, but i would have inquired more about what you've been writing. And as long as it stays within certain boundaries, I probably would've left it at that. Unless you started writing other things or some other mitigating circumstances.

Your parents reactions were completely out of line. There's nothing inappropriate in what you were writing for your age- I was also into fanfiction and there are some wonderful pg and pg13 stories out there. You were making use of a creative outlet and should've been encouraged. If anything, the discussion should've just been on internet safety when it comes to what you MAY run into on fanfiction sites. I'm so sorry you weren't encouraged to do what you enjoyed; I hope you've not let that stop you from writing.

Story 5...My mom did something very similar during the pandemic. My aunt would send her daily 'updates' about how bad things were getting and made her believe we were all going to die...My brother and I had to sit her down numerous times (once was not enough) and tell her to stop believing everything she saw on fb

The irony of parents going from "Don't believe everything you see online" when I was younger to now "Look at this silly sounding event I found on FB that's meant to happen in 3 weeks and will cause all of us to become homeless!!!". The huge lack of awareness of fake news makes me worry for the older generations as well, not just my parents. It's worse when you try to educate them but they don't actually take your advice because "they've been on this planet longer than you" and therefore they know what they're doing. Example, my mother still believes Japan wants to invade Australia (a task they wanted to do during WW2) even though since their surrender they've become an ally to Australia as well as the USA.

I have done tech support...and I have had people (the one that i remember most was an adult man) he called freaking out asking how to delete his browsing history because his wife was on her way home. I told him how and I sat there listening to him panic because she was pulling in the drive way when he hung up with a quick"thank you bye!" and I now work for a bank as a fraud agent...and I had to explain to multiple people what only fans is. One women asked how that could happen was it that she clicked something by accident?..I replied Yeah...no you have to fill out an info page so not by accident.....well do you have a teenager in the house?" Her reply was"He is so grounded!" I was like oop ok I got someone in trouble now but...technically it was theft...they got me to help them cancel the card and send them a new one and change the password on her banking info. Thankfully she understood she would have to contact only fans if she wanted a refund but yeah..I really don't want to have to tell an 80 year old what it is but its literally my job to. Sighs

AMA QUESTION: Is this channel part of a network of channels? Because there a few channels of reddit videos with different voice actors, but all use what appears to be the same editting style (same fonr for text on screen, same graphics package used, all over gamellay footage), same sort of thumbnails, similar sorta content in the community tab, similar video naming structure (even consistent with the same spelling and grammar mistakes). Like, I know there's a few channels overtly associated with this one, like in the channels tab. But it seems like several channels doing the same thing in a near identical beyond just being the same genre of content

when a kid is doing/searching questionable things online (out of the ordinary teens being gross,) check in on them. sometimes it’s because they’re a victim and doing what was done to them or searching up what was done to them to reclaim it is an unhealthy way to cope for kids. kids being victims is a really hard thing to think about but if you make sure a kid is safe it’ll help them out. speaking from a point where i wish someone asked if i was okay instead of straight up punishing me and shaming me.

Story: Oh god where to begin, my mom found my fanfiction when I was 11. Summer going into like the 7th grade I got super into Scott Pilgrim (I still am btw) and started to write a fanficton with an Oc I made on a google doc. A few weeks later, my parents thought I was being suspicious on my computer so my mom went through it.... with me in the room. She went through my search history, emails, and even google docs to find an old Naruto Oc bio and said fic. She looked through it and found the word sex.... the name of the band was Sex Bob Bom and it was nothing sexual at all..... It was a mess. She forced me to keep the door open unless an adult was upstairs (until she forgot) so I hid in my closet to chill (making myself even more in the closet then I was then). Flash forward a few months later I come out of the closet to a close friend who is a part of the lgbtq community, my mom checked my phone that night to see that I had come out and called me in.... I was not ready to come out to my family at that point but I was forced to come out to her. A few months after that, without my consent she told my family I was Bisexual! Thankfully my family is very open to me and I'm happy to say 2 years later I have continued to write my fic and lived in bisexual fandom bliss. Every now and again my mom checks my texts and emails but its not as bad as before.

Story 18 (replying to Ripe's comment): Each kid has varying degrees of mental maturity development. If the kid has been caught already having interests in nudity (specifically sex), then it is the time to explain some things regardless of age. However, I do think 15-16 is when you must already sit them down and explain things if such things haven't already come up. Let them know that they should be comfortable talking to you about it even if it is embarrassing at first.

this story is kind of wild but im gonna start off by saying im autistic and i was 12. that's my only explanation for my actions. that and fear and people pleasing, etc. also i had a general sense of dissociation for like 4 years at this time, so i just kinda didnt really care and just floated through this situation. so my friend R invited me over for a sleepover randomly one night. she said she was feeling down and wanted to watch netflix and get mcdonalds for dinner. no big deal, i didnt particularly want to but i cared more about how my friend felt, than about holing up in my room to watch supernatural.. the short version of it is basically this; unbeknownst to me, she had been messaging two of our male friends from school, some pretty nasty stuff, and was promising them oral, from BOTH of us.. she actually invited them over to sneak in while her dad went and picked up mcdonalds. i dont even remember eating that night. so anyways she sorta ordered/begged me to go do makeup with her little sister (7-8 at the time) to distract her while she sneaks the boys in. me, stupidly assuming she had any idea what she was doing, just figured she had a plan for getting the boys back out...... she did not. once the boys, L & J, were hiding in her closet, it started to set in for her what the hell she was doing. she started panicking and crying, and L started to get peeved because he realized he wasn't getting a bj. J was actually surprisingly chill about that part, despite who he grew up to be.. (a HUGE bully, i constantly defended people he targeted all throughout high school. i didnt care if he attacked me instead because i knew he was just so... stupid.) but L on the other hand, was my best friend. i was middle-school-in-love with him and he had always been so kind and caring to me despite me being an ugly horse girl (at the time i couldn't care for myself properly but i did my best with friends help, i was dirty & weird though so friends were a blessing.) of course it killed my crush immediately, but it was also the first time i truly fell out of love. he was saying things like "you know when we expect something and don't get it there's physical pain," and "come on you dont have to just R." i stated that he would NOT be getting any from me or R, and i would figure out how to get them out of the house as soon as i could. i decided to sneak them out via the roof of the porch, through the currently unused and empty nursery window. R's room was directly across her sister's, on the 2nd floor. the nursery was right in the middle, adjacent to both rooms. as they went to climb out the window.. R's das got back. he didnt notice them and we shoved them back into the closet and probably left to have dinner. eventually when everyone was relaxing for the night and hour or so later, we got them out through the back door they snuck in through. her dad & stepmom's room was right next to the steps down to that door. they somehow didnt hear us, maybe me telling them to sync our steps actually worked, maybe luck. but we got them out. more like *i* got them out. the next morning i woke up to R panicking and asking me to log into her facebook on my phone. her dad barged in yelling about the back door being unlocked... R couldn't find a good excuse, so she got her phone taken away. he comes back later screaming because he saw all her messages. he screamed at me even, and i was ignoring him and calling my mom. he actually beat the fuck out of her right in front of me, and continued to do so every so often even in front of both of my parents who showed up separately cause they're divorced. R's stepmom called the f'ing cops about it all and made it a huge deal. the boys got charged with breaking curfew, and R got most privileges revoked for a while. her bio mom was much cooler about it, but she was only there weekends. despite R explaining i had little to do with it, my parents decided because it happened on facebook, i would have my phone taken away. but my dad gave me his old laptop to use, and my mom dug out an old kindle for me to watch youtube and stuff on. i also didnt particularly care about this, though i thought it was an unfair punishment for the crime, i wasnt going to argue and get something worse taken away. (godspeed if they had taken my library card like my dad suggested...) the messages between the three were really vulgar and nasty for 12 year olds, and i definitely wont repeat what little i remember. think the typical sexual vocabulary words. pretty vanilla stuff, but we were way too young for that stuff. and her saying all of that without my consent, planning it, manipulating me to come over in the first place, and shoving it all on me once the pressure of the situation set in. we were still friends, but slowly drifted apart, as happens with age. sorry for the long story. ive never actually recalled it in full, because i also have ADHD and my thoughts were always jumbled until i started medication. so yeah. this is the first story ive ever left, but i have so so.. SO many to share. im almost 20, so it's kind of been a while since this happened. i dont have contact with anyone in this story at all besides my mom lol. and im content with that!

also a couple things i forgot: my dad went through my phone and found out i had recently broken up with my first girlfriend. im pansexual but he was "concerned" i was a lesbian and went around telling everyone i was. he's definitely very homophobic, racist (both the boys were poc,) and i got extremely lucky he didnt beat MY ass like poor R's dad did to her. his mind slipped over the years & he's beat my ass over much less. he's also a felon & ex con with a few active warrants at that time, so i suppose he had to tread lightly when the fuzz were involved. despite R's dad's reaction, my dad doesn't deserve any dad points for being chill this time. i was also going through a camera phase at the time, and had secretly vlogged most of it in a blair witch style. i pulled the card out of the camera & snapped it in half and stomped it into some mud once i knew the cops were called. not to toot my own horn, but i was always a smart kid.. p.s this camera was not expensive and i barely remember it cuz it wasnt my main one, the card was like, as long as my thumb and very thin and easy to snap.

I have an inverse: I’m the child who came across some unfortunate search history of my dad. You see, my dad would often take away my laptop as punishment for things like lying and hiding school stuff, which, fair. What I didn’t know was that he borrowed my laptop for his own purposes, and one day, I’m using it and I notice on the favorites bar on the Google homepage (on MY ACCOUNT) was a link to a p0rn site with the caption “Hot Latino Stepsisters get f***ed” or something along those lines. I had wondered what the little stains on the keyboard were, and lord did I find out. Thanks a lot, dad 🤢

In the early days of high school, back when cell phones were flip phones and my space was THE social media platform (I graduated in ‘08 so early 2000’s) I was in a newly formed computer class where we learned the “proper way to type” and how to internet search etc etc. I mean so new that the principal was still on the fence on wether our school needed site blockers and whatnot. Well one day I was in class doing the assignment when out of nowhere we, a room of 20 15-16 year old teenagers, hear pure adult entertainment coming from a computer all the way in the front. We all slowly turn in shock to see the one male classmate watching full on adult stuff. Our principal was immediately convinced.

More of a worried aunt figure. My cousin's facebook habits border on family vlogging and I worry that her kid will have a rougher time on the internet because of the false sense of safety instilled. There are other habits and choices that make us worry the kid will also turn out poorly adjusted for this world. Our concerns are sorta brushed off, so our hope is the kid will at least be more open to listening if and when difficult talks must be had.

When trying to do an impression, you gotta nail the catch phrase first. Then for awhile you always start with the catch phrase, and that’ll help you transition into character. After awhile, you won’t need to start with catch phrase anymore. For Hank Hill, I use, “dang it, Bobby!” Or his disgusted AhaHahAh noise that he does. Then for Bobby you say, “but DaAd!”

I remember how when I was about 14 a kid I was friends with told me, how his little sister came across some unexpected things when looking up pictures of pugs.. You know... The german word for pug is Mops. The plural would be Möpse. Möpse is also a slang/colloquial term for female breasts... The equivalent of boobs... Apparently the sister had just wanted to look up pictures of pugs and typed the german equivalent into the search bar...

When I was 7, my dog passed away. It was my first experience with death and I was absolutely heartbroken. At my grandparents house, my grandpa let me onto the computer so I could look up pictures of her breed and print them out since we didn't have many pictures of her. I got on and tried my best to spell "Weimaraner", I sounded it out and everything. Well, I did not type that. I typed "womanizer" (damn Google auto filled my horrible attempt and me not being able to read fully just hit enter to search). Que my uncle walking in on me crying while looking at pictures of scantily clad women in different poses. Thankfully, he understood what I was trying to say, helped me type it, and explained to my parents so they wouldn't be mad, it was an honest mistake. I'm Bi now. 😂 Also, I had to Google how to spell Weimaraner so I obviously never learned anything.

Omg, I'm not a parent but my younger sister (about 7 years apart) is an artist and I wanted to see her art. I knew her twitter name, so looked her up, and found her art tag............she seems to ship Bowser, and to my horror, Luigi(who is my favorite character btw). Also the pictures were NSFW...... I've never been so scared 😭 Edit: We are both adults but it seems life still has many surprises left for me

For the hank hill impression, practice makes perfect. On another note, I'd say at too young and age its a bad idea to give kids full access, use parental controls til they are at least 13, from there on explain the risks and kinds of things they will come across once there's full access, and tell them they can go to you for any specific things to understand what they are looking for if they find the wrong thing, its easier to guide a young mind than it is to just boss them around. Thats my opinion atleast
