Wonderboy can't help but be a nice guy, even when he's trying to portray a drunk and aggressive brawler. "I'm going to pop you a good one, boy." Make no mistake, he's a world class MMA practitioner, capable of destroying most humans on the planet with his bare hands, but he can't pull off the"mean guy" persona believably. Neither can Sensei Seth, and I love them both for their wholesome personalities.

This series is so important , especially among the "If that works why don't you see it in MMA" crowd . So much changes when you add in real world factors . One thing that is hard to emulate though is the human factor . To recreate what an untrained person fights like for one. We usually have other trained fighters playing the role of attacker . They tend to attack with balance, distance and relatively clean techniques we are used to seeing . But thats not how untrained people fight. They swing full power, wild, crash into you off balance with entire body weight and throw as many shots as they can. Add in either hate, rage or drugs or all of the above and you are dealing with something far different than what you get from a trained fighter. So you kind of have to get into a different mindset when you are the "attacker" so you give the defender a realistic feel . And finally I would add an 8th place you don't want to fight in . A hall of mirrors. If you have seen any of the movies you know this !

This is actually a really good thing for an innocent person too, because it means you can predict quite accurately and train to protect yourself from some drunk idiot. You're really never going to end up in a bar fight with a talented professional fighter unless you travel in those circles. Fun video. I'd still pick an open area although I probably am slowed by age, so outrunning a lot people is probably not happening. 😅 Maybe one of the worst places to fight (not covered in your list) is on ice (frozen lake, ice-covered street). Every punch you throw off balances you, kicks are off the table, and grappling is going to uncomfortable to painful (freezing, hard surface). If you do a follow-up video, I'd love to see a simulation of a slippery surface. If nothing else, it would be hilarious.

I think it is pretty a lot "if" here (and propably we can find more)... Generaly... Guy who is running affter you have much easier work to do, because he is just fallowing you... And you are the one who is scared... and have to think how to get out of this situation... while you are running for your life xD... Ofc everything depends of situation... But!! You don't really need to know the place particularly well (just be sensible enough to not run down one way alleys), you don't have to be good at running (just as good as the other guy), you don't need "ultra instinct" (most situations where running is reasonable involve confrontations with people who are stationary, or maybe running at you from distance). All of this also assumes that your opponent would bother to chase you which in most scenarios just isn't true

Content Idea for you Seth: The Karate 'silver bullet' - The Chudan Gyakuzuki, seen frequently in Olympic Karate Competition. The reputed effects of said technique is sold by many Sensei as 'a kill technique', not to imply it would necessarily kill, but just gravely hurt a given opponent if applied with full force by breaking their floating ribs into internal organs or aiming for the solar plexus, the zone that's supposedly everyone's achilles heal (weak spot)(good if you can hit that coin size target under the influence in a heated exchange..). That being said, it's never used to full force in general sparring, thus it's virtually written off as being redundant. You'll see adaptations of a traditional reverse punch applied to the face such as demonstrated by Lyotto Machida in the UFC. But like you, Seth, have discovered in your transition from more traditional training to Kick Boxing MMA clubs, a lot of this traditional stuff gets watered down. ie; you're not about to Shuto Strike, Palm Heel or Groin Strike someone in a playful sports context ever, period. So I recently had an opportunity to spar with a new black belt of Goju who looks a lot like the youngsters in this video, this kid was PERFECT with his execution of the chudan gyakuzuki, crisp, fast, text book precision! he fought myself (shodan in Shito-Ryu from 10yrs ago and never stopped training since, just alone 99% of the time) and a trained pro kick boxer and landed many beautiful strikes on our mid section, to his discredit (and internal disbelief no doubt), none of which were recognized as a finishing technique, we just kept plowing on and he became quickly overcome. This Karate guy was being knocked around, pushed back and falling over.. not because he wasn't well trained because he was, but because the way he's used to training, the match would be finished once he's executed the perfect Gyakuzuki. So I wanted to see if you and Sensei Wonderboy, or maybe Mike would be willing to talk about and demonstrate the efficiency of a gyakuzuki in the sports context and its real world applicability. Thanks in advance - Long time Fan - Dan from Australia - Osu!

I think fighting is awful anywhere else than in training or competition. And I say it as a martial artist that's in the game for 30 years (I am 40). And had my share of bad situations, but hurting people is bad and sucks, I always felt regret, and also being hurt is also bad. And thanks God for not hurting bad anybody and for not being seriously hurt. And weapons are really dangerous, and don't forget if you do something stupid you will regret for the rest of your life, or you could be at the end seriously hurt and live like that for the rest of your life or get killed... So the point is stick to the training... 💪👊👍🥊

He probably made some noises that woke me up but I woke up around 2am and then noticed strange movement on the shared balcony between my apartment and my neighbor's apartment. When I went out to check it out the dude just popped out of nowhere and started hitting me. The way he was doing it reminded me of how primates in documentaries beat the shit out of each other. I basically just did a really basic white belt level judo hip toss right off of the balcony. I almost went over with him but I was able to grab the railing and keep from going over with him.

The Bar one is a yay and a nay for me Seth, so im a Dj and i trained and competed in mma with a positive record, anyway i saw many fights at the Bar/club i worked at and everytime the smaller guy had any form pushing power they would attempt a tackle and somehow get out and then the fight fully would start now of course one situation end up with the smaller guy pushed over the pool table by his shirt but that is what can happen, my main point here is a Bars a 50:50 situation and in my opinion is better then a toilet, a shower, bus, hallway between buildings a small office, second story walk way and a car all of these i feel is worse then even a Bar which is crazy to think of if i'm being honest. Anyway great vid still but do know things change sometimes.

To be fair, in these fictional sparring scenarios, you really don't want to seriously injure anyone, so you aren't going to do any biting, but in a real life scenario... I'm gonna be biting and tearing chunks out of the attackers' face. It sounds ridiculous, but it's really not. The nose and ears are especially vulnerable, but the cheeks, lips, chin, eyebrow ridge and neck are also vulnerable targets, some more vulnerable than others and some harder to really get a good bite on, but more vulnerable than more easy targets. Cheeks are a big target, but not exactly easy to get a good chunk when you think about it. The lips are a very soft and vulnerable target, but they are also pretty small and likely hard to get. That's why I said the nose and ears are especially vulnerable. They're large enough and stick out a good distance, so inflicting damage on them wouldn't be very difficult, but the lips are the softest target. The chin is easy to get but quite tough as is the eyebrow ridge. The neck is actually the most deadly target if you can get a good mouthful, because it's easy to cause serious injury that can even prove fatal via asphyxiation, or arterial bleeding. Legality could be rather iffy, but if you truly do believe it's a fight to the death and let the attacker run off if they choose to stop being a threat, you should be okay. It's not something most people would do, but it's a good strategy for weaker individuals and the untrained. Brutal and gross too, but unarguably effective.

It sooo funny, like 40 min ago I got draged into a streetfight and when trying to run away (like a real martial arts enthusiast) I nearly ran on to escalaters before thinking: HELL NA!! And imideatly turning around 😅 (I'm fine, the attackers were pretty drunk or completly incompetent I believe)
