Perfect video on this topic! Nice :) There might be another such topic if you would be interested. I do a lot of flower macro photography. Yellow flowers are quite easily overexposed. But the "blinkies" do not show that. The blinkies only work for the gray/white areas. The other colours are not giving warnings. So when the yellows show no gradients anymore, the colour is over saturated. Can be prevented when you underexpose to get all the gradients. But the blinkies give no warning. While a lot of people think, when it doesn't blink, it is not overexposed. Also valid for the orange in sunsets. I'm not 100% sure if my findings are correct, but almost. I always pay extra attention when shooting yellow, orange or red flowers with a lot of subtle gradients. Maybe it is not called overexposing, but over saturating, not sure.

Yes, I'm actually covering that in the future! The "blinkies" only represent overall luminosity, they don't represent oversaturation in any one color channel. So you can have overexposure/oversaturation in one color channel without the overall luminosity being overexposed. You can check oversaturation in the different color channels by checking the larger RGB histogram, which many different camera brands offer.

I think that you have not only explained it well, you have exposed the gimmicky things that should help people realise that photography is about learning how the three settings combine to get what you want and open the creativity that as you point out, is more important, it also reminded me that when it’s white, you want it balanced more to the right without clipping, also I would add, if these things were that important, how did photographers years ago make excellent images without these gimmicks, they used the tools that they had to them best effect!

Yes it’s a wonder anyone was able to capture compelling images before we had all these things 🙄 Thank you for the feedback!

Nice video, and I think the first time I have had someone explain to be that the Extended ISO's are essentially for Jpgs only, would that be fair to say?

I don't know if I would say, "JPGs ONLY," I don't like absolutes, there are certainly people who could use them for RAW files. But I think if you want to get the most out of your RAW files (which is the whole point of RAW processing), you're better off not using extended ISOs.
