The whole faze where you ended a relationship and you are still getting over it gets easier to handle and it's not that bad as it seams... On the other hand staying in a relationship where you are unhappy is not good for you mentally.

Yea i was like that too but then i got in a relationship with a narcissist and not matter how much i tried to be reasonable we would always fight over stupid things and eventually break up.

"Kissing him made me realize I'm still in love with you!" This is what my ex-finace told me, literally the most heartless, cruel thing I've ever experienced from a romantic partner, and it's been hard to really get into dating since. For context, SHE was the one who broke up with me, and in the same conversation told me who she was going to date instead. She was the queen of double-standards as far as relationships and faithfulness: She expected me to be jealous but cool if she flirted with male friends...but she would get super jealous and passive-aggressive if I so much as modestly got along with _any_ of her friends, even the guys, and without flirting. She did try the "I'm pregnant" one, though I saw through it instantly and she played it off like a joke to break the ice. But with the benefit of hindsight, I think it was more so she realized the ploy didn't work. This was before I learned how important managing my own self-esteem was, and in particular that she was the type of person who if locked in a room for 1 day with a copy of themselves would be more likely to murder suicide then just tolerate or work together to escape or w/e. (I'm completely the opposite...if a magic clone with all my memories, experiences, and personalities existed, why _wouldn't_ I get along with that person?) All of this was before I understood how love isn't just a feeling, or a choice (at least not in the "what do you want for dinner?" simple way), but it's something you have to build over time with people, based on GENUINE value, respect, and appreciation. I legitimately loved her, but her "love" for me was profoundly selfish (and even then she was still miserable...honestly even when we were together it was like she resented me having a degree of contentment.) A few years back she pinged me on facebook, saying how sorry she was for how she hurt me in the past. I haven't hardened my heart entirely, I don't especially wish her ill...However, I immediately pointed out that she was "sorry" back then, and *still* continued to hurt me in ways SHE would never have forgiven had our situations been reversed. I told her I don't forgive her but I don't wish her ill, and she'll just have to live with that. And then blocked her new account. For fellow tenderhearted, forgiving folks: Don't stop being compassionate, but do pay attention to whether those who seek your compassion are compassionate in turn towards you and others. If they *aren't* compassionate, then save your compassion for those who will actually value it and share it further, because that's the real point of compassion...making a kinder world, not so someone selfish can take all that you have to give and then demand EVEN MORE.

Re: Story 43. If anyone ever threatens to share/actually shares your intimate photos, look up "revenge porn" laws in your area. In my state, it's a crime to even threaten to do that.

Didn't have those exact words spoken to me (too hard a promise to keep?) after being threatened with a knife while I was packing my stuff to leave, HAVING BEEN TOLD TO, but after getting "i'll never be the same without you" text, I couldn't help but think "great, you should never be like that ever again. Win, win." Also punched me in the face then got angry that I was bleeding all over her kitchen 😅. I feel I can PERHAPS do a little better haha

Reminds me of my female friend which had an ex boyfriend which said and I quote while they were together "I still love my ex, but I'll try to love you just as much as I love her". Needless to say the relationship didnt last much longer

Had an ex discuss with strangers on a forum how she was going to seduce me. Thing is, I'm a struggling writer, and at the time I was in the habit of googling myself to see if my desperate attempts at self-promotion had worked. Discovered her discussion pretty quickly. Got a phone call from her a couple of days later. She seemed surprised and quite perturbed when I gave her the cold shoulder. And to this day, I'm sure she doesn't understand why, and I'm not sure I know which is more insulting - that she discussed our relationship with strangers on a public forum like that, using my real name... or that she was stupid enough to think that her scheming wasn't transparent.

What is it with some people feeling the need to play dumb games in order to test their partners? I once had a gf like that and she would concoct dumb tests to make sure that I was loyal enough, that I loved her enough or that I would simply do what I said I was going to do on any given day. Once she had her female friend flirt with me when my gf wasn't around to see what I did, and several times would she literally stalk me to see if I actually did go to the gym or to hang out with my friends or go to the store or whatever. I obviously "passed" all the tests but it grew old fast when I realized that her tests would never end, she would keep doing it for as long as we were together. I ended it pretty soon after that realization and she was stunned, then furious. Then she said I failed "the final test", as if the tests were ever going to stop. Through mutual friends I later learned that she was never able to hold down a relationship for more than a few months because of her insecurities and controlling/jealous nature, and apparently she ended up assaulting her boyfriend's sister because she thought he was cheating on her, with his own sister. And she KNEW it was his sister. Absolute psycho.

Had that with a now ex boyfriend of mine, always putting these situations on me and at first I was genuinely concerned but wizened up fast to learning this was a game. One day I just walked out and he couldn't understand so I said he didn't pass *my* test which was don't f with me and don't waste my time with this insecure bs. He begged forgiveness and claimed he learned to be better so I told him to save it for the next bit of fluff (fluff = girl) that came along and left.

@@kelf114 Tbh 'wizened' is really a good description of how I felt at the time, however as much as I 'wised' up on the ploy of my problem, it appears I have also 'wised' up on how badly my country's education failed me on basic English. personal story: I was in an abusive relationship back when I was 14-15. it was an online relationship but abusive nonetheless. his favorite hobby was to break me down and make me feel as worthless as humanly possible, I'm assuming to make him feel better about himself. after I finally defied him and he amped up the cruel treatment towards me up to 11, I asked him if he even wanted to be in the relationship anymore. he responded by breaking up with me. it was after we had broken up that I had realized how free and happy I was to be away from him. I could finally be my own person again without the fear of being lashed out at for hours on end. however, he wasn't so eager to just let things die. he tried at least 5 times to get me back and...there was a pattern to his attempts. see, I'm autistic. high-functioning and I am extremely empathetic. neither of us knew about the autism then but he knew about my empathetic nature. so naturally, he attempted to exploit that by: 1. pretending to have amnesia. he told me he wanted to talk to me and because I was curious what he wanted from me, I set up a PS4 party for him to join, where he proceeded to act like he didn't know who he was and he didn't know who I was. when I didn't buy it, he told me that if I didn't take him back, he would kill himself. I told him to drop dead and left. 2. pretending to have leukemia. he messaged me randomly while I was in my sophomore science class telling me that he had leukemia and that he only had a few months to live. I told him "sucks to suck", and he kept trying to weasel his way back into my life by telling me he wanted to spend the last few months he had left with me. I told him I didn't and proceeded to ignore him. 3. pretending to be a chronic smoker/drug addict. I was playing Trials of Osiris on Destiny 1 and had decided to invite him to play because I hadn't spoken to him in several months and was curious to see if he had gotten any better. spoilers, he did not. he spent the entire time obnoxiously coughing into his mic to make himself sound sick or whatever and when our 3rd player left, he starts venting to me about how he "started smoking" and possibly doing drugs because "life has seemed to meaningless without me in it". I told him I didn't give a shit and that I knew he was faking because he's a _TERRIBLE_ liar. then he threatened to kill himself via overdose if I don't take him back. I didn't take him back. 4. he messaged me randomly talking about how he wanted to kill himself and he regrets dumping me. I told him I regret ever giving him the time of day and ignored him 5. he demands to talk to me and I obligate. he talks to me about how miserable his life has been since the breakup and how desperately he wanted me back. he swore over and over and over again that he would change and things would be different. I was curious to I decided to give him a shot. literally 5 minutes after I agree to take him back, he insults the appearance of one of my Destiny characters (my Hunter specifically). this full on triggered me. it triggered me because he had a nasty habit of insulting the appearance of my characters to make me feel inferior to him. he would do it over and over and over again. the moment the words "your Hunter looks like shit" left his mouth, I told him that I knew that he was full of shit and that he would never change. he tried to play it off like he was joking but I wasn't having it. I told him that he's a fucking liar and a worthless piece of shit and immediately booted him. when I had found someone else I was interested in and had started dating, he had been spamming me, demanding that I give him a chance. then he said "you better not be talking to other guys", as if that piece of shit had any right to tell me who I can and can't talk to. I, after about half a year or even longer of dealing with constant harassment from him and vain attempts to manipulate me into taking him back, finally let out all of my pent up anger and hatred towards him. I threw everything he had ever done to me, everything he had ever said to me back in his face, and I reveled in watching him squirm like the cockroach he is. when I was done, he never messaged me again. if you're wondering why I never blocked him, I was way too curious to see what next stupid stunt he would pull to try and get me back. I found a kind of humor in seeing my abuser, someone who had made me feel like I was nothing without him, come to me on his knees over and over and over again telling me about how miserable his life is without me. it was poetic and ironic

My ex lied to everyone saying I was a cheater when I started seeing a guy a month after we broke up(he convinced his parents but not my friends, thankfully), and when I told him the real reason for the breakup he lost his shit at me (the reason was that he'd been triggering trauma from an abusive relationship id had) and then out of nowhere switched to groveling and apologizing and begging to still be friends a day later. I agreed and he proceeded to be super nice to me but then sprinkle bits and pieces of things that he knew would give me anxiety in there til I said I needed a break from talking ti him. Two months later he hit me with a paragraph about "still loving" me abd about how he couldn't stand to see me knowing I'm with other men. Turns out he walked past my work and saw me through the window and thats how it came up. That didn't give me any sudden urge to leap back into his arms apologizing or to try to work things out, so I just said "maybe that's for the best then, sorry shit had to end like this but I wish you the best" and then peaced out. I'm still anxious about the whole thing but now I've been woth my new partner for almost 7 months and he makes me happier than anyone ever has before.

If her prank genuinely fucked you up, tell her to never try to pull that on you again, and they'll her that if she let's her friend treat you like shit you're outta there. I know it sucks when you feel like you love someone, but you need to communicate and if they aren't willing to listen, as much as it sucks, you can absolutely find better.

Not a win back sorta thing, but it was the thing that made me break up with him. He called me and said that I shouldn’t hang around with my friends because he thought I might kiss them, since our first kiss was very “sudden and unexpected”. After that she felt regret and said “I exchanged a diamond (me) for a gold (The one she cheated on)”, it's a really cringy and cheesy line for real. Fast forward I managed to push the woman away, then tried to play as a victim by posting in her SocMed that “I” was the one who cheated on her. Crazy huh?

I'd say that had I not have a similar experience. Similar line with "You treated me like a queen, everybody else just wants s*x". Yeah, it was a Queendom, alright. No kings in that relationship... Also slept with another guy while she dated me, though that was at the very beginning and we weren't serious yet, so I let that slide. But she did gaslight me by saying she cheating on me just to get a reaction out of me. And *then* tried to approach my friends and turn them against me. Thankfully I know how to choose my friends and none of them had any reason to take her word over mine.

I had that first one happen to me. She was away at college so I got the school equivalent of “I’ll quit my job where the other guy is” followed by how she can’t live without me and wasn’t going to, because she was a cutter, there was a better than normal chance she meant what she said. Edit: I should have kept listening before commenting, same girl, she threw the “I was thinking about you while it happened” line at me too. Now I gotta see how many more come up, like like a fucked up bingo card lole.

Crazy ex tried to deceive me and said that my gf at that time was flirting with another person and getting too comfy with them, and that I should break up with her because I'm getting cheated on. Ironically, I was on call with my girlfriend at that time and we were even talking about a movie we both wanted to watch.

Ok so keep in mind that I'm legit only in sophomore year and have only dated this one person, so that's when you know I got a fucked up living environment lmao. This was last year, we were starting to drift apart a bit. I was starting to catch on to some things she previously hid from me, but it was never a big deal. But, she has been avoiding me for seemingly no reason, and when I ask she avoids the question. I realize she has me blocked on her phone and she's been cheating on me with several people in our school. Guys, girls, anyone and what seemed like everyone. I was justifiably pissed off and broke up with her, and she kept rubbing the salt in the wound by having me realize she wasn't just cheating but doing it with people in the bathrooms after school despite her claiming she was asexual, she apparently used me the whole time we dated for this exact reason (popularity and attention). I ended up being suicidal as I always tended to have a problem of being used as a tool by others, and this was my first break up which made it worse. She caught wind of me being suicidal and she proceeded to spread rumors saying that I'm faking suicide to get back with her. Everyone with the exception of a handful of my *true* in the school left me. They all hated me, I was beat up occasionally, verbally attacked on the daily, and by that point it was December 31st. I did almost kill myself, but then couldn't get myself to do it, and I got therapy, got the support from my friends and family that I needed, and here we are. I'm much MUCH more healthy than I was all that time ago, but there's still one problem. That jerk is still on me, sending me death threats, spreading fake rumors, and funniest of all, begging for my ass to come back. Somehow after all the shit and trauma she put me through, of me barely being able to even look at her without the nightmares flooding back to me, she thinks its possible for me to come back to her. She has since been calling me through several different numbers (all of them I block lol) trying to either hook up with me, or get me to kill myself again. Teresa Santana, fuck off.

@@joebolts2934 well the ambulance and police and whatever got there and surprise surprise, she wasn't actually suicidal on the brink of killing herself. She was playing video games in her room. So it was quite a surprise for her family! And I felt bad about that, like, didn't I basically swat this poor innocent girl? What reason did i have for disrupting her and her family's happy and peaceful lives? But actually she had in fact told me she was literally about to fucking jump from the nearby cliff / trail thing _(i don't know how to describe it better, it was an area with trail you can follow that had two main levels and a ways to walk between them but a jump from the high part down to the lowest WOULD be a long way to fall, and its basically right next to her house)._ I don't know full details directly from there on _(because she threw a little bit of a tantrum and tried to make me think she was fucking dead and i had been too late)_ but from what my best friend _(who turned out to be the other person she was blackmailing, but less "have sex with me or ill kill myself" and more "comfort me and be constantly available for me as a therapist and servant and watch me do sex stuff and keep it all secret from [Skeptical Hyenas] or ill hurt [Skeptical Hyenas] more" which. Again. Unbelievable levels of fucked up.)_ reported to me, they wound up taking her to the hospital for a psych eval / temporary (mandatory?) some-number-of-hours hold while they talked to her family _(who had no idea what was going on, sorry guys!)_ and then after a looooong time my best friend and i started finally talking again and untangling that web of lies and putting it all together, how we were played against each other and each intentionally isolated and each manipulated by her threats of hurting the other... made even easier because of the physical distance between my friend and i, as we were in different states at the time. So it was... really a mess. But we conferred and then both confronted her _(together, so she couldn't play us off on each other like before)_ and called her on all of her bullshit lies and thats when she conveniently decided perhaps a local college would not be good and possibly her... higher education "calling" could, should and would be pursued somewhere that was maybe _not_ right by where I live. It was a ride!

My worst was she said "what about your siblings??" Girl...I'm not staying in a relationship where I'm unhappy for my siblings who don't care if I stay with you? We had only been together for like 3 months.

One of my sister's had an Ex that had a kid from a previous relationship. The dude was garbage, and became a hot mess when she finally told him she was done. One of the lines he said to win her back was, "I SHOULD'VE GOT YOU PREGNANT, I WISH I GOT YOU PREGNANT😫!" Yeah, and you'd get more child support you can't even pay, what a d!ck😤

My ex broke up with me just because I was “moving out” of the city (about 30min drive to my new home) btw, I still live where I lived (it’s been like 2 months now) and she asked me why I was in her city, I answered “I didn’t move out yet” and she tried soo soo hard by saying “I still love you, I broke up because I’m too young for a relationship/a long distance relationship” I replied “Well, I also broke up with you, because you treated me like sh*t, just let it dive deep into your mind that it’s the end for us” She sent me a video of her crying, it was so obviously faked that it’s hilarious. My x would just try to guilt trip me into thinking I was a terrible person for what I did or didn't do. I'm a nice guy so making me feel bad about things I did and I would try to make things better but after we broke up I wasn't having it anymore. Finally learned what she was doing and it was all her fault in the end cause I now know I treated her more than amazing and she was just trying to suck more out of me

She lied and said she had stage 4 cancer and had a week left to live. Only thing was i had called her less than 4 months before that and she was absolutely fine. She had tried other threats (suicide, her parents divorcing, stalking, etc), but that was the point i had to go "come on, really?"

"I messed up, I miss you" She dumped me the day after my aunt died, lied and said it was for her mental health and for mine. Lied to me the whole week about many things. She came back the tail end of that same week, said that banger of a quote, and dumped me a second time hours later because I showed that I obviously bad very little trust left for her since she lied so much. She then told all her friends that I said she should be aborted... I never said that but SHE did. She then lied and said I cheated on her to all of her friends, with a girl who left me after stealing $3,000 in assets from me to be with a jobless, homeless twig man from Up State New York who was abusive and a drug addict with someone else's child. And her friends believed her despite me having evidence showing she was lying and that she had no evidence backing her claims at all.

At the beginning of the relationship, I had established that I had recently left a toxic 5 year relationship with my son's father and would not tolerate abuse like that again. After 5 months of being emotionally abused and manipulated in this new relationship I left. My ex then called begging for another chance and said that because I had stayed in my previously toxic relationship for 5 years (gave it more chances than I should have as I have a son from that relationship and naively hoped things would get better, and I had made sure to mention in the beginning that I had regretted that choice) that I somehow OWED her that same respect🤦🏽‍♀️

Cheated on me and asked to be friends while she was confessing. 5 months later, I got a message about how she missed me and didn't want to be with someone else. You sure as hell didn't think so while we were together, Novi 🙃

Had an ex have so much jealousy issues about one of my particular female friends and had rage issues. Basically "where the wild things are" movie came out and my friend new i really wanted to watch it and she just so happend to have it and invited me to watch it with her alone because her parents don't like having people over they havent met before. So i say "be back after the movie is over" the gf flipped her fucking wig! Initially got really pissed and saying some shit "if you go down there im going to run away! from you and this house if you leave!". I legit lived 2 houses up from my friend and just said "im gonna hang out with my damn friend and be back after the fucking movie. I asked if you could come, they said no, so thats that." I go down to watch it and my phone strarts blowing up from the gf texting, repeadedtly calling, and leaving voice messages. Apparrently she was crying so hard my parents started messenging me about whats going on. Think i was 19 at the time? But lived with the parents so i could save monies for college. Anyway, i apologised to my friend after the movie was over and went back home. The gf was still crying and asking me why i left her alone and just being pathetic about something so small of an event. The next day when i took her home i dumped her right when we got there. She started crying and asked for one last kiss. After the kiss she tried saying "if i knew you two were such good friends i wouldtve freaked like i did, and i wont get mad at you anymore please dont go." Before this shes raged at me MANY times for ridiculously dumb things, and she knew how long me and that friend have been friends for. Shit was damn ridiculous

I have just one simple rule that pretty much sums it up for me. "If you let your heart guide your life, you're screwed." Not that I'm saying how you feel about someone isn't important. It surely is. But if your mind and your heart say different things, better go with logic rather than your emotions.

"I hope he beats you/You'll never date someone like me again!" My "wonderful" EX boyfriend learned about me dating my now bf a month into it and told me to kms ON OUR ANNIVERSERY. The same day my grandma had passed away from kidney failure so i had a bunch of pent-up emotions and they all kinda dumped on my ex. Somewhere in our screaming match he said "I hope he treats you like a football watchers' wife" or something like that. When i asked my boyfriend, it was lingo for i hope he beats you. My mother was beat by my bio father, and he knew that. I yelled at him some more said my best come back ever and blocked his number and account. Hes now stalking my tiktok.

That she had changed and was going to make everything right. Then I said "Ok, the floor is yours. Why should I think anything would be different?" she said "I don't know, just let me try" then I dropped bombshell "I have a girlfriend now" and she still continued. Then went "All men are pigs!" and I said "Maybe you're the pig" My gf and I were laughing our asses off

“we were together for 3 months, so it’s only fair…” we hadn’t had any contact for almost a year at that point and he’d messaged me out of the blue

She said "I miss how we were couple goals", one year after we broke up. Not "I miss you" or "I'm sorry". She broke up with me because she wanted to date some guy who didn't know her name and had cheated on me as well, I was gonna break up with her that same day actually.

My ex ended up being a huge liar who lied about some really disturbing stuff. I ended up breaking up with him and he said: “So this is it…? I hope you the best for the future..hopefully I’m still alive” I had another dude try the same quilt trip on me and I didn’t budge. Ended up blocking him everywhere and telling my closest friends to do the same. He ended up having hes friends contact me and try and have us get back together. When that didn’t work he ended up finding one of my distant cousins and try to use her to get in contact with my family/ friends so he could try and “fix things” with me. Fortunately he had not realized that I had some friends still following him on social media and he ended up jumping from chick to chick in a span of 4 months while still trying to get back with me.

Not an ex, but when I moved out and decided to live with my cousin, my parents tried to get me to come back by saying "he's not going to have the nice toilet paper" The funniest part was his toilet paper was way better

Sort of relevant, an ex of mine was trying to say goodbye to me after I broke up with him and not only did he try to kiss me one more time he also said something along the lines of "I guess we can try again in 4 years" or something like that.

My wife's ex tried the suicide route several times, the cancer route once, and refused to admit how many times they dated. He also lied to her several times saying I was a pothead alcoholic who cheated on her.

10:13 Holy crap. What do you even do in that situation? I hope OP got very, very far away from them after that.

Ongoing, but my abusive dad begged my mom not to file for divorce for 4 years and refused to actually do anything to fix the relationship. She was living separately this whole time. She kept begging him to decide if he wanted to stay married or not. Then, he decided to surprise file on Christmas in a really heartless way that screwed my mom. Mom was first, just happy he finally made a freaking decision. Two months later when her birthday rolls around he texts her about how he got her a gift and "your address is the same, right?" (She was legally required to tell him of any financial changes before the hearing so....he knew the answer) and it turned out he'd bought her this really expensive perfume she had wanted but didn't want to spend money on. One of the few times he got a gift right. He is still texting her BS questions he knows the answers to or could easily get from his lawyer. I honestly don't think he emotionally realized what he did by filing. I think he's just smart enough to not admit "I didn't actually mean to divorce you." But it's obvious this was supposed to only be a power play to cover up the fact he'd been caught stealing money in November.

I had an ex that didn’t want anything serious but then after a couple years when I finally found my future wife (current wife of the past 10 plus years) she tried to have me get with her because she said I was the father of her son. The messed up thing is she was so stupid that she tried to tell me that the child that was between 2-3 years old was my child but the child also had a younger brother who looked like their completely genetically related by both of the same parents. Also the oldest kid she got pregnant long after the last time I saw her and the younger brother meant she had to have gotten pregnant less than 3 months after we stopped seeing each other and got pregnant again within 3 months of giving birth to be able to have both of those kids with the youngest being nearly a year old. If she thought I was the father why would she wait multiple years to inform me to be able to raise my child. I only went to see the kids to see if there was any chance of it being true and I also snagged hair follicles from both boys when I went to the bathroom and they had separate combs that they used with their names. Tested the DNA to find out their both 100% biologically related so it isn’t possible for me to be the father of one or both due to them DNA. I truly didn’t want to be with her buy I was ready to take a responsibility for my actions but thankfully I was able to cover my ass because that woman is psychotic gold digger.

If a girl were to say she was pregnant when we broke up I would say "Bitch you're only telling me this now??" Because there's a 1/100 chance of her being pregnant and it might be kinda disrespectful to the father if she actually was and hid it.

When my ex and I were dating he was seeing another girl on the side, he broke up with me to be with her. Fast forward 2 years and one day he showed up at my house and was like 'lets just pick up where we left off' as the other girl had eventually dumped him and he thought I'd welcome him back with open arms. I showed him to the door and said I'd think about it and would call him if I decided to. I never called and never saw him again.

The amount of times people are like "I thought of you the whole time I was having sex with someone else!" Is...wild. do they think that's romantic or something??

On and off relationship for four years. Long distance and close. Would constantly insult me, my intelligence, and overall was just a shit person. Actually convinced me to get back with him the last time because he was telling a mutual friend he would k*ll himself if I said no I was dumb and barely 20 so I took him back... He cheated and I broke up with him, the confrontation was rough and again he told me he was going to k*ll himself if I didn't remain his girlfriend. But he didn't get me to stay, I was smart enough to know he was bluffing. Bonus points the friend who informed me he was cheating on me was also subject to his threats of offing himself because they decided to terminate the friendship. They told him to do a flip when he jumped from the two story parking garage he was threatening them with Bonus #2: contacted me weeks later with just the worst insults saying how stupid I was and I just blocked his number. (Bonus bonus bonus, he actually cheated on me with said friend. I'm not in contact with either of them anymore, I was a doormat and tolerated way too much)

He says this I think either high or drunk after crying into my shoulder, about two months after week broke up and because us dating was breaking his parole. he's much better now and a close friend but I'm glad I stood my ground and told him "No" when he asked me that.

Told me I repulsed him, physically, emotionally and didn't like my personality........then wanted to "Have A Quickey", before leaving. Good thing for him he had good reflexes and was able to duck all the text books I threw at him.

I'm normally a kind and caring person. But when someone (AKA an ex of mine) keeps talking about his dead mum non-stop as a way to win me back (I of course feel sorry for him), it's not good. like you know it gets very difficult for him if he gets attached, the man you are with now was simply ready for that sacrifice and that builds a deep bond imo. me and my ex had this sort of situation, she had been a cutter before we met, and while she got out of that she started to have eating problems. we were together a year but things didnt work out cuz of my stupidity and the fact i knew i dont want my first gf to be my last, im 18 so that wouldnt be a good idea and i guess that left this feeling of enevetable doom that led to me making poor choices.

in my experience i remember how i felt because i knew the person i loved was suffering or having a low moment. i remember telling my dad about the problems (we have a good relationship and my gf knew i told him and didnt mind) and balling my eyes out. she managed to get out of it 5-6 months into the relationship, i remember how much i loved her :( yeah its gonna take more than 7 weeks to get over it huh

Not me, but a friend of the family. Her divorce was messy. The man kept alternating between "I'll kill you/I'll kill myself/I'll kill you and THEN myself" threats if she tried to get anything from the separation. She just wanted to be rid of the man. Years later, he wins the lotto. Sends her flowers with a card that basically asks her if she's sorry she left him now that he's loaded. She put the bouquet through a paper shredder and sent it back to him. I will never be as cool as you, Link.

The audacity of some people is truly mind blowing

So, my story. My Ex decided to approach one friend and ask her out, she turned him down. He then approached a second friend/my roommate a week later and asked her out. She turned him down. Now you'd think that the stereotypical thing for girls is to gossip about guys and such to their girlfriends. So, we already knew about his first attempt at the first friend. A week after my roommate turned him down, she called me into her room and told me that he just asked her how he can get back together with me. Even if Friend 1 hadn't told me what was going on, my roommate I have known since Freshman year in high school, and when this was happening it was around 2019 (we graduated in 2011), so she certainly told me what was happening. It's like dude if you're wanting to get back together with me, maybe don't ask out our entire female friend group every week leading up to it. Not that I planned to ever get back with him as I knew he wasn't what I wanted or needed in a relationship, and I knew that I wasn't what he would want in a relationship (he was just upset he was nearing his 30s and was alone).

My ex always tries to bring up the fact we have a cat together, he asks about getting custody. She is my cat now and the last time she saw him she didn't react well.

When I first met one of my best friends, he thought I was a girl and planned on getting with me. Thankfully nothing awkward happened and we are still close friends now, but he found out when I said I asked what my parents would name me if I was a girl. Tripped him up.

A stupid man texted me after 2 years. I am already remarried and living my life without him and he has the audacity to text me saying "Hey I got counseling and I know now that I really treated you badly and I want a chance to do better." Like I am just going to drop everything in my life and come running back to him. Counceling must not have done him much good because he never had another long-term relationship after that. He never stopped trying to get me back either. It was pathetic. He died two years ago and was found dead in his home after 2 days. He never kept the AC that low. I can remember sweating in my own home because he refused to turn the AC down. I bet it did wonders for decomposition at that point. It was covid so he didn't even get a real funeral. It's just as well, he didn't have many friends anyway.

"I love you so much, but you won't fight for our relation ship" Him, two minutes after calling me to say he wanted to break up. Also him when I told him that if he has reached the point where he wants to break up, I'm not gonna force him to stay as it's how he feels. "I love you the way you are, but if our relationship is going to work out, you need to change the person you are." I'm still not exactly sure what he was trying to do.
