What's the Difference? Traxxas Mudboss compared to the Salvas Mudboss. Is one faster?
We take an out-of-the-box Traxxas Mudboss and go over what's different from the traditional Salvas Mudboss. Then we do a little bit of prep to the Traxxas Mudboss and go head-to-head on the track to see how they differ!

    I'm new to this type of racing so I'm excited for them to get started, but I also want to get into different classes and do the original. I think it's great to have options but I agree this new Mud boss is for us starting and should be it's own class

    Y'all might want to do some more explaining why the 4x4 bellcrank is such a problem. I heard you say it limits throw, but if the car pushes, even more slip angle isn't likely to reduce understeer. The new one doesn't have the tuning time, so I'd like to see how it does after more track time, and how it runs with the Salvas body. I predict that all of the Traxxas Mudboss changes eventually become the standard for all Mudboss racing in a few years, but folks have the option of bodies and tires, at the very least.

  • @BloodlineRC

    @BloodlineRC

    @@guest6423 from everything I’ve heard and read, the HD bell crank reduces steering by 20%. On a tight oval (like the one we ran at), there are times you are 100% dual rate. This car did feel like it needed to have the wheels cranked to the left, just a little more. Personally. I tried the black bell crank, and was told the car just won’t work as good with that and the HCG. When I changed back to the stock white, the car felt a ton better. One thing I’d like to try, is pinning this bell crank. I know people would pin the stock white servo saver, but I went with savox servos, and an aluminum horn. So never fooled with pinning. I think your prediction is spot on. This new car will take over. I only hope we get a North American rule set and we are all on the same page.

    It is a good car. Not the same as what we are currently running. But, with that, it loses all the baggage the current car has and is a great jumping in point for new people. Yes, it might not be fast out of the box, but it drives well for a new driver

    @@seans.9340 why is that? You know by naming it Mudboss, it was going to be compared to the OG car. If it was MWM or Oval racer, it wouldn’t have had as much scrutiny. Personally I feel the car is a good deal, considering how much all the components cost. They are selling like crazy around here though. So it’s good for shops and hopefully good to bring in more drivers.

    Great video you took a truck you race regularly that you have setup to your preferences and are just overall used to vs a relatively box stock truck i believe the new mudboss will in time outrun all of the old ones hands down weight only slows u down taking off coming from a racing background where i was 40 to 60 pounds over weight where u only had to be 300 and only ever losing 2 races in 5 years weight doesnt mean anything give them time and a chance and i believe they are going to be an amazing class anyways great video because in the end they are different vehicles and there is no fair comparison

    You are right. They are 2 different cars. As it’s shaping up, many are being sold. Local shops are running out and there is a lot of interest in running this car. The best part, almost everyone wants to run it box stock. Hopefully it brings in new drivers and gives the entire field a car that could win any race. It’s cool that almost all of our NY, NJ, PA tracks are adopting one rule set. So we should have a dozen tracks that this car can run at.
