I’ve had my Model 3 performance for a few years now. You’re right on the sterile part. The acceleration is what got me though. Level two change at home and have only super charged a few times on road trips.

You have the best case scenario for owning an EV. Enjoy it and thanks for watching!

We already own one and while I am open to all vehicle types, my wife has had it up to her neck with oil companies (whole other subject I know) and loves the silent operation and plug and play nature and will never go back to an ICE car as her vehicle.. our EV has range of about 300 miles and in the cold months here in Utah it can get down to a still adequate 220 miles. She has really short commutes, only occasionally drives more than 50 miles in a day, and once she gets home from work she plugs in and it is full the next morning. I have no doubt that technology will eventually catch up in terms of charging infrastructure and charging times. The biggest thing I see going against EVs is the people and their sometimes irrational hate of any kind of change to their world view. Thank you for this video Chris!

Sounds like it works well for you family. We have quite a few friends who have them, as well, and they work well for them, too. Do you have Level 2 charging capability at you house or do you trickle charge it?

@@AutoAcademics we have level 2 charging...at first we used the 110V plug but it would take about 10-12 hours to cover the driving she had done for the day. Now it takes maybe around 2-3 hours or so with a 19kw L2 charger.

I have two; a bmw i4 and a Hyundai Ioniq 5. Both are great but long drives (more than four hours) require too much planning. Fortunately that problem doesn't come up too often.

Yeah. That's the biggest problem with EVs. Once that's solved, it'll be all good. Thanks for watching!

I rented one for uber and it was inconvenient at times . I would consider owning one if I could charge at home a nice second car because I like to hop in the car and just drive sometimes

Yup, they make great second or third cars for now. Once infrastructure is resolved, it'll be better. Thanks for sharing and for watching!

I need more range to get an EV. 450-500 miles is my minimum

They're working on it. Probably in another 3-5 years we'll have more EVs that can do that and don't cost $200k. Thanks for watching!

DOPE video…. You should’ve titled it EV Tutorial for Dummies LOL… I’d rock one but I’ll DEFINITELY have to be a secondary vehicle and until I win the lottery or something to that affect that ain’t happening 🤣

  • @AutoAcademics

    @AutoAcademics

Yeah. It's hard to make EVs a secondary car when they have the cost of a primary vehicle. That'll change eventually, though. As always, thanks for watching!

They’re utter junk. I valet park hundreds of em all day long. Always feel cheap, some trim popping off , something’s loose, cheap materials etc. So refreshing to get in my 20 year old Lexus with 330,000 miles and not a rattle to be heard. Buttery smooth. Fill up in 2 minutes and got 400+ miles of range.

Imagine if evs were the standard and ice was new tech. Would you buy something with higher operating cost, was slower, noisy, harsh, and required more maintenance?

Gas stations, not all of them of course but some of them, should or could have their own charging points with good prices and no app just pay in the gas station. Now they don't fear EVs anymore since fuel will win again so they would benefit too. In the 1890s there were already cool EV cars but Big Oil made them useless

Here in the North East it’s a No Go until they learn to develop an EV that has NO pain Points. I would be Pissed to lose range because it’s cold or very hot weather having to park outside. Highest Electricity rate in the country is UNITIL who have us at their mercy. All major industry has left the area due to cooperate greed of this Unitil.

Yeah, there are still a lot of growing pains right now. One day they'll get it together, but until then, EVs will remain a niche mode of transportation. Thanks for sharing and for watching!

I get over 400 miles in my crossover SUV i do more highway driving so keep up with oil changes and tires. Evs just isn't ready for primetime not enough charging stations to slow no one will sit nowhere for for 20 minutes to a hour plus u need a account gas stations u can pull out cash or credit card fill up and go no one with a normal life will buy these things..
