here in Germany, you can get a Carbon Spindrift with flow mk3 wheels, rs ultimate (zen and super deluxe coil) suspension, gx drivetrain, chain guide and so on for roughly 4000€ which is equal to 5000 USD. This is crazy value! There is no way we could get a Trek, Santa Cruz or any of the tested bikes with similar spec for 4000€

There unbeatable value, my old spindrift came with factory fox 36, cane creek db coil,mt7 brakes, stans flow wheels, bike yoke dropper, and gx drivetrain for €3300. Nothing else came close for that spec. I spent a bit more on the new spindrift but still less than 4k for a really high spec'd machine

Love the honesty when talking about saving money vs weight on carbon frames. I never thought it was worth 1000 dollars to save 1.5 lbs on a bike. I guess if you’re a pro racer with sponsors, a 10,000 dollar bike is reasonable. But I have a 1,300 dollar hard tail that is great.

You said this was the best value enduro field test. I'm still waiting to see a bike worth the money. This industry has lost it's damn mind! I always build my own bikes to try to save where I can because I don't feel like any bike, off any shelf is worth the asking price. I just built a carbon Knolly Warden, but I only ended up with the carbon version because of a delay in the frame I ordered...and I got a fat discount. Marzocchi bomber cr rear shock, NOS Marzocchi 350 R fork, bontrager line 30 wheels with the 108 poe upgrade, box components 9 speed drivetrain, SLX cranks, SLX 7120 brakes, chromag bars, stem and pedals, PNW loam dropper...I'm STILL in this thing for over $4k, but at least it's set up how I want. I could have saved money, sure, if I wanted to run raceface stuff, cheaper brakes...but then I could have just bought one of the "budget" bikes everyone else has.

My parents bought me a Trek when I was like 16yo - I knew how much it cost (400-500 USD) if I recall correctly. I also went to a shop not long ago, on my late 30's and saw an awesome looking bike. I ask the seller, how much is this worth and he says about $6,000USD --- I wen't out laughing out the door. Now I see this videos of people talking about 8k and 10k bikes and I wonder --- when did a mountain bike start costing the same an more than a 2stroke or 4stroke motocross bike or even speed bike. I guess I am not qualified to see the high value on this bikes, just perplexed at the fact that if you want to get into Enduro Bicycles (yes Bicycles) I need to spend the same I would for a motor bike and that is just absurd to me, sure many enthusiast would disagree but this is just waaay too much for a steel frame and couple of dampers.

You Mentioned that the Santa Cruze was the better deal over the Trek. You said the SC was 6199 dollars but with the carbon wheels it drove the price to $7400. I would certainly take house brand parts(carbon wheels, bars, by the way is in house for SC as well) and stuff 1500 bucks in my pocket for awesome upgrades. How is that a better deal? Did I miss something?

The carbon frames of Propane are usually 2 pounds less than the Aluminum equivalent. And the cost is not 1000 more. So I'd go with carbon. In Europe you can get a very VERY decent spec (Fox 38 Kashima factory fork & DH2 shock) Propain Spindrift, for less than 5k. At that money, this bike is a bargain.
