My first reel of my own was a Zebco 33. It was 1976 and still used it till recently.
I have all of these except the trion, which I tried at the store. My favourite is the Zebco Delta, except its a bit slow to reel. The new model for 2023 fixes that. My wife uses her 33 pink more than the president I bought her. Daiwa gold is a good one and my old abumatic 3 bearing is as good as everything here, except the weight. Thing is a tank. Bullet is excellent for a quick retrieve. Omega Pro is smooth and love mine. But for me the Delta is the best bang for the buck of all of these. The new one is 19 IPT vs 29 for the bullet.

I see the pflueger is less than 50 bucks, and looks very good, and I have brand recognition that I've always been happy with. I've used old zebcos as a kid, for 100 dollars, is this new age button reel the best choice? It mainly going on a cheap ugly stick for novice fishers to use with me.
Late 70s? Guess you completely missed the Zebco 77s.
One flaw with the bullet .The hole where the line goes in the reel wears out and starts cutting your line really pissed me off that they put junk rubber around that hole
