I'm a fan of TREASURE. Up to this date, I still cry thinking about how the whole KPOP community took that 7 second clip out of context and bullied him ON HIS BIRTHDAY. In fact that clip was close to 7 months old (AUGUST 2022), and it resurfaced on HIS BIRTHDAY MONTH APRIL 2023, just to play a part in a petty, silly fan war between TREASURE and ENHYPEN fandoms. As always the obvious troll accounts and other fandoms pushed this false narrative just to get on the hate train against a KPOP idol and situation got out of control. Netizens didn't want to listen to the explanation, even after countless clarifications from Koreans, global fans, the Queer community, LGBTQ Community who understood Haruto's situation; what he actually meant, but people still up to this date, drag him with the term homophobia just to throw hate for no specific reason. He was 18 when this happened, he's a young idol and everyone ruined his career when he was at his peak! What was the reason? Where does this hate comes from? Are you that miserable in real life to throw hate on someone just to make the idols you support shine? Just like everyone else, he worked hard all his life to get to where he is right now. As a Japanese person, I want to add some context that the LGBTQ discussion in Japan is not as prominent as in the west. On a fundamental level, Japan doesn’t have a religious/cultural background that views homosexuality as sinful or wrong, and therefore, the counter narrative of “accepting the LGBTQ community” and “it being socially taboo to say you don’t feel comfortable with it” isn’t as widely acknowledged either. I think many Japanese people have a “you do what you want in private” attitude (I’m not saying there aren’t conservatives who oppose same sex marriage and rights activists who push for equal rights because there are, but comparatively speaking, it’s not a topic that gets media/advertising/political exposure to the same degree that it does in the west). I believe Haruto had zero intention of commenting about the “community” because talking about sexual orientation in the Japanese context is so often just simply about personal preference and not about a larger political/social issue. Imagine someone saying tongue piercings are bit weird and how non-political that would be. I hope the people judging him can be mindful of their own cultural biases. Also, not to mention that he was taking about dramas and not real life.

Sorry to say this but I recently saw a account in tiktok making hate videos about Treasure. (and the oener of the account is a moa and a engene. I don’t have anything against TXT/Enhypen ). The comment section of those videos are really disgusting. They were saying really bad things about Treasure by labelling the whole group as homophobic. I don't have any other social media accounts so I never knew that they were getting this much hate because of this single incident. Also I think Haruto knows that some teumes are shipping him with Junkyu a lot. ( not in brotherly way more like in a romantic way)And he must have felt really uncomfortable about that. I was forced to think deeply on why so much hate comes out of fans. It is so very sad to hear. I also think calling them idols maybe makes some people treat them differently. Like dolls. Actually the clip was misinterpreted. A non fan later translated the clip towards the day of Mcountdown in France, when qntis threatened a black ocean for TREASURE as a whole. It was translated to be harsh, and out of context. But some people blindly continue their hate without listening to evidence

In what context could he mean it in a good way? He is an idol with a fanbase of people that look up at him and many of them could be gay, imagine being said that your preferences that makes you you are weird. If he is straight of course it would feel weird for him to consider being in a BL romantic comedy and having to kiss another man. Not every straight person is comfortable with that, especially since he does not have much acting experience. I'm a straight and i have two friends who are gay. And they love each other but one of them like me lot , you can say she also love me but it's weird and uncomfortable for me if i had to say how i truly feel. But i never hated them, i have support them as always. I have good terms with both of them. Even if it's weird for me there are acceptances for that. I guess that's how haruto's also feel. I never said i don't like them or i hate them. Rather i support them, but that doesn't mean i will also become a gay to support them or i would be comfortable to show affection the same way they do to each other. That's the boundaries. That's the uncomfortable things. But that's personal but that doesn't mean i hate them. If it was all okay there wouldn't be any gender differences. There would've be anything called straight gay lesbian. All would be same. It's all about accepting and supporting. Honestly netizens themselves are not as pure now a days they've become a community of bully.

This is one of the huge problem with TREASURE... The uncanny hate they recieve from the kpop stans and general public. One day they are labeled irrelevant, unfamous, losers... But one small issue/out of context moment and people out here judging them from head to toe / in and out as if they knew them personally?! Like, so what if he gained weight you don't even see him everyday because you don't stan him, why bother talking about someone "irrelevant"? Haters really can't decide lol. Some might think this is having a victim mentality but it's true, and it affected not just him but also most of the fandom. Sometimes I'm convinced that TREASURE is actually more famous than what is projected but some people are just silently waiting for some issue or drama instead of appreciating their music, performances, and good attitude. KPOP community is scary because it can indeed boost an idol's status from little things (like being viral for memes or by posting a simple shirtless pic, baamm suddenly everybody loves you...) BUT they can also devastate you to the core by escalating simple things negatively like what they did to Haruto. This isn't the first time, but I hope there won't be another time when KPOPPERS would preach about; "be kind to everyone" "You don't know what they are going through" "We shouldn't judge" "We lost another pure soul"

Believing a relationship should be between a man and a woman is not homophobic if he was not bashing gay people or bullying them because of their sexuality. Sure his choice of words were questionable but not homophobia

It's always the non fans who has something to say as if they are actually part of the society when they obviously aren't even paying taxes being homeless and doing nothing but sit on their computers or something

I've never been a fan of treasure since I prefer listening to female artists since as a girl it makes me more comfortable but I've been seeing the comments circulating around, it's not fair to Haruto he didn't do anything wrong and netizens are absolutely disgusting for their conduct following the initial controversy. At the end of the day we don't know 100% of everything behind the scenes or Haruto's thoughts but to go around to parade and actively promote hate and vile behaviour is completely unacceptable regardless of anybody's actions.
