The symptoms werent only panic attacks but extreme depersonalization and phobias to sound and vision. It was a nightmare. I am still undergoing it but thanks to meds I have improved a lot but not entirely yet despite it being 5 months now of taking them. I had horrible social anxiety and I had no idea it was anxiety until I realised it was taking over my life. I am no longer suffering from it, and I believe the main reason is that I faked it until I made it, and I pushed myself out of my comfort zone no matter how scary it was. I remember crying in the gym changing room because I was too scared to work out around others, but I pushed myself. I also remember forcing myself to attend my university lectures, make new friends, make phone calls (despite my sweaty palms and extensive planning before the call) etc.

Earl Espiridion, Do not delay taking the right medication. To feel relaxed reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety. For a better life sit on a chair, back straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Day or night, when taking a walk, when reading, on the phone, before sleep etc sit or lie down and observe your breath. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

@André Manchester as someone with anxiety I really don’t recommend using drugs like shrooms. Yes, marijuana can help sometimes but it’s really different for everybody. For me personally I used to smoke weed and maybe a few edibles but I found that It barely helped me at all and made me feel more paranoid when I was high. Again, this is different for everybody. There is medication and therapy for that.

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Thank you for sharing this point!

I’ve had anxiety eversince I can remember. I always thought it was shyness because I’m Asian and I usually get shy around people, until it wasn’t. I’ve went through a lot of traumatic events and abuse. Since mental health is taboo in the Philippines, it was never addressed. Until I got here in the US, I was blessed to have a very loving and supportive husband who stood by me through my darkest days. Last year my depression and anxiety got so bad that I was suicidal almost everyday. I started taking medication, it helped but it wasn’t the best for me. Then early this year I started therapy and my life changed tremendously, I started to feel normal again, happy again, I can feel sunshine again. I also started walking every morning, like really early where it’s still dark and so peaceful that it helps me with calming my brain and emotions. I would never want anyone to experience anxiety or depression, it’s like being alive but feeling dead inside… My advice to anyone suffering is you can get help, you don’t have to suffer alone. Therapy is amazing and getting sun every single morning works wonders🥰♥️

I cannot tell you how validated this video makes me feel. Many people don’t make any effort to realize how draining anxiety can be in your day to day life. Even after getting on medication, it can still get overwhelming some days. Thank you for making this video.

I know what you mean. I've been through almost every anxiety disorder except for ptsd because I've never been in a very traumatic situation thankfully. But it started with ocd when I was 12, then 13 to 14 my social anxiety and agoraphobia started and became debilitating with constant panic attacks for many years. I constantly feel like everything's crashing down on me and that everything is a big disaster, I'm constantly worried that I'll do nothing with my life and I'll be a bum and a disappointment to my family ( I can't tell if this is ocd or gad but I'm leaning towards the latter). And to top it all of i also developed severe depression and binge eating disorder because of my anxiety. I'm 21 now and I'm so much better than I used to be, my anxiety isn't debilitating anymore and I can function though I now have to pick up the pieces of my life and I'm so so lost. I feel like I've been having a bad nightmare all these years and now I've woken up but I have to make sense of reality. People indeed don't get how devastating anxiety disorders are. To me if they are severe anxiety disorders are very much a disability: you can't sleep, can't concentrate, your entire body hurts from constantly being tense, you can't go out and talk to people, you are constantly fatigued... it's just awful really

One thing I love about these types of videos regarding feelings of mental health is that the comments section is a community of people who all feel the same feeling and who go around supporting and resonating with others in the comments. No anger, no politics, no arguments, no assumptions -- just people being a community. That's a beautiful thing that we don't have enough of in this world. I didn’t start having real, actual anxiety until a couple years ago, when I entered my 30’s. It gets so bad sometimes that I can’t even sit down or lay in bed. Even the thought of going to bed would give me anxiety. I’ve had a couple panic attacks where I legitimately felt like I was dying. Anyways- I saw a video here on KZread where a doctor suggested taking magnesium. That has actually helped, along with working out. I haven’t been doing it as much lately- though I am trying to find the time to work out more. It helps for me to think I won’t feel like this forever. Yes, nausea can come with your anxiety disorder. For me, nausea has always been the biggest part of my anxiety disorder and ultimately increases my level of anxiety since I am afraid of vomiting. Ultimately, I don't think you can target the nausea alone. You have to treat the anxiety disorder in order for the nausea to go away. Speak with your therapist, a psychiatrist to give you medication, or deal with the anxiety yourself. I always carry a water bottle with me to drink from when I have anxiety induced nausea. Whenever I'm at a point where I am about to get up and just leave, I grab the water bottle and take a small sip of water. Of course, this doesn't get rid of the anxiety or of the nausea, but for me it's become more of a comfort thing. You can try to find something that makes you comfortable and distracts you when you're feeling nauseous.

To all of you who are also suffering from constant anxiety; be kind to yourself. It doesn't magically make the anxiety disappear, but it makes it slightly better. At least for me it does. If you on the other hand keep blaming yourself and seeking perfection in everything you do, it makes it harder to live your daily life. Most importantly, appreciate what you have and the things you've accomplished - even if they seem like tiny things. Studies have shown that people who learn to appreciate the things and people around them suffer less from demotivation, depression and anxiety; something I'm personally still working on, but it seems to be quite effective. 😄 Strength to all of you wonderful people out there!

But I couldn't shut them out, to the point that they would distract me from my work and even conversations with people. I didn't realize this was abnormal until I had a major traumatic event and took lorazepam to help me through it. Immediately I felt more calm than I have had before and that inner monologue was silent. Sure, I could think to myself if I wanted to, but it was on-command, not on constantly. That's when I knew something had been wrong all along and that I needed to fix it. I feel so much more clearer and capable since getting treatment. I did well to deal with it all my life, but now I don't have to continue fighting it.

I felt the same way, I couldn’t function like a normal human for about two years of my life. I felt so foggy, like an empty shell without any emotion. Ask yourself this question when you feel overwhelmed, “will worrying about this topic solve the problem or help me?” Feel confident in your answer, don’t worry about if the answer is incorrect because you’ll just go back to being anxious about it again. I didn’t have any confidence in myself and my ability to solve my problems because of my anxiety and I even worried about my solution being wrong, but it’s better to try and fail than not try at all. Your anxiety won’t ever completely go away, so as long as you accept it to an certain extent, it will be a lot better. I don’t know if you can relate to any of this at all, but just keep working at it. I know it feels hopeless to keep trying to fix your anxiety, but keep working. It will get better.

Speaking personally ...it is TRUE! It is intangible, and comes out of nowhere, often without warning, and can be utterly debilitating. It truly needs research and therapy. I've found that group discussion with similarity afflicted people can be helpful. It provides affirmation that you are not alone, and you are not weird. Knowing there are others that share your burden can be cathartic.

@@maryclaudiapitman If it affects your physical health meet a psychologist. To feel better reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice.

Being around people gives me anxiety. I was ostracized badly in middle school and high school due to my sexuality which made me become super self-conscious because I thought if I was consciously aware of my behavior at all times, I could control it and act in a way that would reduce people noticing me. But the exact opposite effect resulted and I became more of a target of suspicion and mistrust due to my akward behavior. I am 31 now and nothing has changed. It's really hard when I am working with clients or anyone really and they can tell something is off with me so the typical responses I get from people are angry/malevolent facial expressions, looks of pitied amusement, people mirror me, or people avoid me. It's very difficult to deal with everyday.

As someone with diagnosed anxiety, depression, ptsd and adhd (as well as an eating disorder), many times you cannot do all those "helpful" things like exercising or eating right. Getting out of bed is a struggle. Eating food at all is a struggle. Going to work and making it through the day is more than a struggle. Reach out to health care professionals when you have a moment of strength or energy and be brutally honest about how you feel. Right now I'm trying to advocate for myself with doctors and specialists to get everything treated and it hurts so bad to try and stand up for yourself when you hate yourself most days. But you are worth it. I'm worth it. Keep fighting for that help and accept it when it finally comes. You can do it.

It vanished when I let myself think I didn't have to go to school that day (I ended up staying at home). My mom (and what I believe everyone else) thought I was just being lazy. The scary part is, the further I get from the experience, the more I start to believe them. It's hard for me even now to clearly explain what happened that time. I think that was about 2 years ago. Then quarantine started, classes became online, and I haven't felt that anxiety since.

But I learnt to embrace it as part of me. That's who I am, that's how my brain is wired. As long as I get my things done, my work done, and I can live a "normal" life. In fact, my constant worry and anxiety sometimes provide fresh insights and new perspective in my work or personal life that others don't see, just because I think and worry a lot more than normal human being does. Sometimes I need to psych myself and keep reminding myself not to worry so much. It takes effort and mental strength, but most importantly I embrace it as part of me.

She mentions them as important first steps, but not as a silver bullet. For some people, that alone can be enough. Some of the symptoms of poor sleep include increased anxiety. People without anxiety disorders can still struggle to deal with normal anxiety because of other factors like stress, lack of sleep, and overall poor health. But that's not to say that those three things are definitely a cure. Heck, those three things can often suffer because someone has anxiety that interferes with them in a terrible feedback loop. She goes on to explain several other things that can be done to address more serious anxiety disorders. Don't sell her suggestions short; she certainly didn't imply that a healthy lifestyle will cure all anxiety.

I wrote a bit of a scathing review of this video in a comment, where I gave more details on ISTDP therapy, and what credentials a therapist should have , if you become interested. It feels nice to hear someone say it's real and not just get told to go do some yoga and chill out. I used to live with my sister and when she moved out to another country, I began feeling stressed and one day just like that I stopped sleeping. I literally couldn't sleep, my body wouldn't let me. My eyes would start to close and the second I relaxed, I had some sort of a jumpscare. I was exhausted and started having panick attacks in a loop, my whole body was constantly tense, I went to the doctor in tears and she told me to meditate and try some herbal tea. It lasted over a week but felt like a year. I went to see a psychiatrist and she gave me a treatment for anxiety, after a few days I began sleeping again and was able to function "normally". It took me months and months after that to get over the fear of not being able to fall asleep. Meditation somehow makes me anxious, though, my mind drifts on random things way to easily and also I start hearing my own heart and it freaks me out. But working out helped to a point. Anyways thank you for making this video, I hope a lot of people see it and learn something!

I have been struggling with anxiety my entire life... I always had it, and it got worse every year... it got so bad that just the thought of getting through my day triggers an anxiety attack or even doing something as simple as going to the grocery store is a struggle. I actually envy those who don't have anxiety, I can't do the simple things others do on a daily basis and it made me lose all respect for myself especially since no one knows my struggles at all so I'm constantly applying pressure and stress on myself to be like "them". When I get an anxiety attack I get an pain in my stomach like my stomach is twisting and turning which eventually leads to me puking or pooping mostly puking. Anxiety is unbearable and annoying. It's something that has plagued my life for years.

I'm scared she'll just tell me to shake it of or yell at me for being weak... it has gotten so bad that something as simple as going to the grocery store or even thinking about getting through my day is a BIG struggle which why I despise school presentations, socializing, answering questions all of those just scare me.

I've had social phobia my entire life and have long been ' social distancing' myself from others before social distancing was a catchphrase of this pandemic period. Knowing others suffer from this helps me out. I don't feel so alone and 'weird'. At my current age of 63, the decades of living with social phobia have worn on me. I'm tired but keep going forward. I read that an organization called MAPS: Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelics Studies has made some huge breakthroughs in the treatment of PTSD and other mental health issues. I hope someday we can all live a life without fear of our own species.
