What's My Line? is a panel game show that originally ran in the United States on the CBS Television Network from 1950 to 1967. Definitely the best game show in history. The cast is a “dream team” of intelligence, wit, class, style, I could go on and on with superlatives. But how is it possible that 60 years on society hasn’t evolved an equal or better show? In my view it was the 1960’s that did a terrible number on the psyche of this country, and since then we’ve incrementally dumbed ourselves down. Now, people who articulate as well as they did are ridiculed, while those who talk and dress like thugs are looked up to and admired. This show is missed in many ways
Cool to see these HD stills. I’ve only ever seen the blurry video footage.
I remember WML as a young child. I loved every part of it from the introductions to the womens' dresses and gowns, to the contestants and mystery guests, to the goodnights. I'm happy to see the over eight hundred episodes on YT all of which ive seen; some many times. It's a cultural and entertainment time capsule. I don't think they could recreate this show today and do it justice. Thank you for this video. If they ever showed this camera angle I have no recollection of it. It's certainly not evident from the episodes I've seen. Cheers!

Who would have been the 4th panelist when Mr. Daley was host? I wonder what the panelists were like off screen. Would love to know the true story of D. K's death.
Best show period!

I've only seen it on KZread. It would have been cool to see it when it was shown on TV the first time.

@@4seeableTV Kinda like being born in Manhattan and as seven year old, a family friend would come over and talk about seeing Al Jolson, that too would have been awesome-

I just stumbled upon this show now, literally 62 years after the fact. It’s awesome…I binge watch it on my down time. John Daley is brilliant and the panelists make the show! My favorite line up is Dorothy Killgallen in the lead off spot, Arlene Francis at second base and batting 3rd, Bennet Cerf at 3rd base batting cleanup! My favorite shortstop batting second are 1. Steve Allen 2. Hal Block 3. Arlene’s husband (forgot his name) 4. …darn it, I forgot his name too, lol. He’s small with a wrinkly face. Any every now and then the star appearances of Jerry Lewis, Woody Allen, Johnny Carson….any many more! AWESOME SHOW…TRANSCENDS TIME!

That's how many of us were drawn to the show. By stumbling on it. I like to watch old game shows from the 50's through the 80's. I was watching a compilation of funny game show answers that had a few clips from What's My Line. I then started watching a few full episodes and slowly got hooked. All for many of the same reasons you did. I had heard the name of the show before, but I honestly didn't know any of the people on it. A couple of years later and I'm almost an expert on all of them.

Wow that was brilliant. Very well done, amazing how much smaller the stage looks than on the show.

Thanks! Your comment reminds me of when a friend and I went to see a taping of Wheel of Fortune. As soon as they let all of us audience members into the studio, that's the first thing we all said. "This is much smaller than it looks on TV".
What's My Line displayed a certain style of well-educated, professional New Yorkers that is sadly virtually gone from the city in the new Millenium.
Wonderfully done. Thanks for sharing.

That show was a major showcase of history. Neil Armstrong's parents came on the day their son blasted off. The first senator of Alaska. Colonel Sanders in his white suit. No one recognized him. This could never happen today. We have too much access to information!
