Joan Collins' hair is bigger than a football helmet. The water skier was gorgeous!
Grew up with and loved the Soupy Sales Show then in 1990 Soupy happily cheered us along then joined in a Veterans march along 42nd Street in Manhattan.
Dame Joan Collins, I think she iconic, still going strong in 2022.

Who??
Arlene's gown puts me in mind of Gil Fates's joke line from the Arlene Francis chapter of his WML book. Something to the effect of "You'd never know to look at the way she dresses on our show that she sleep's in Martin's old gym uniforms."

Hi it’s now Aug 2018 I really appreciate being able to see and enjoy Dorothy Kilgallen. What a horrible terrible tragedy that She was Murderd
Arlene certainly loved her gowns...we all loved her gowns. Those were the days of such elegance; everyone looked like such adults.

Interesting episode ! Anthony Newley and Joan Collins ended up having a bitter divorce in 1971.
regarding Joan Collins: The second volume of her autobiography was called "Second Act" and was released in 1996, following her successful court battle against her publisher, Random House. The company had demanded that Joan return the $2-million advance it had given her for two novels, as it claimed her submissions were "substandard". The New York judge ruled in her favor.

Bennett Cerf was also the mastermind behind the long-standing scam of the "Writing School", which, like the "Famous Art School", encouraged people to send samples of their work, told them they had talent, and scanned them for tuition fees. This was all exposed in a feature by famed muckraker Jessica Mitford.
Dorothy Kilgallen is by far my favorite panelist. She is so very smart and often nails the answer! My second favorite is Arlene Francis. She is also sharp but has a great deal of joviality!

Interesting. I'm just the opposite. In this episode in particular, Dorothy annoys me. For example, getting hung up on the 'display' aspect of the trampoline. Or suggesting the gal dances with snakes. This episode isn't Arlene's greatest, either. But across the series, she seems incredibly sharp-thinking and quick-witted. I like that!

So glad that I could find an episode of the original What's My Line? with Soupy as a guest panelist, just a few years before he appeared as a regular panelist on the syndicated revival. He was one of the best celebrity players on several game shows including To Tell the Truth, Match Game, Hollywood Squares, and most of all, Pyramid.

In the 80's Joan Collins was briefly married to the Swedish pop singer Peter Holm, who had a hit with a cover version of "Sister Jane".
I am fairly sure I would not have known who Joan Collins was in May 1965. (I would have heard of Anthony Newley in passing.) My first acquaintance with Miss Collins was her role as Edith Keeler in one of the very best "Star Trek" (TOS) episodes, "The City on the Edge of Forever". It is a role and episode that I think about often and use occasionally in discussions about far-ranging topics.

Me too. But I can't go past Bennett Cerf's witticisms!!
Although he likely did not remember doing so, John told the same "joke" about the mule and the rope on a WML episode in the 1950s.
Around this time, many of my classmates were into watching Soupy Sales in a big way. In contrast, I was never much of a fan of his. Even so, I have been impressed by his two appearances on WML so far. He doesn't abandon his shtick, but he dials it back a couple of notches so it enlivens the game play without interfering with it. I thought that his question of one of the challengers about wearing gloves was a good one. I don't recall the question having been asked before,

Another of the most transitional episodes of WML, though no one at the time knew it. Dorothy would be the past in about seven months. Daly would be history in 2 1/4 years. Arlene is the past, the present, the future. Soupy Sales is the future. And in this broadcast we see why.

How things can come together. Newly had great influence on Bowie's starting career. In the panel in Soupy Sales, who's sons many years were part of Bowie's Tin Machine, somewhere in the late eighties.

Bill Sorenson, the trampoline man, looks like what news anchor Douglas Edwards looked like in the early 1950's.
There are no poisonous snakes; snakes are venomous.
Anthony Newly didn't change his voice AT ALL. And he's supposed to be an actor? Also, I wonder if he had any idea he'd end up being one of 5 husbands that Collins would have.

To tell the truth
It's worth a laugh searching KZread for "Soupy Sales Do The Mouse" to see what Arlene was describing. Can anyone imagine Bennett doing the Watusi? The audience was more rowdy than I've ever heard, between the baby crying, wolf-whistling a male contestant, and the guy who keeps shouting "Bravo!"
Joe Postove - the exact thought that hit me immediately.
Mr Trampoline was super handsome :-)
Dorothy made an erroneous statement when they were discussing how she guessed the Mystery Guests when she said "He's English and she's not" when in actuality they are both English.

Nah, she was trying to be smarter here, she did that here several times by asking confusing questions !!
Drop-dead gorgeous.
Good imagination for Bennett by getting the trampoline. I knew Dorothy was thinking pool table, but some are quite decretive and no trampoline is AFAIK.

After Joan Collins married Anthony Newley in 1963, did she go about telling people that she was "Newley married"?

Yet another look into the future this episode is.
This is right before Dorthy Kilgalon was murdered.
Mrs Sites from Kentucky is sultry.
Look at Joan Collins eyes (easy to do) when Dorothy guesses who they are. She is absolutely gobsmacked
Tony really didn't disguise his voice.
How did they decide which panelist to begin the questioning, or was it totally up to the host/moderator?

Random selection by Daly!! But if there is a contestant with a funny "line," and if there are any comedians present as panelists like Steve Allen or Fred Allen or Hall Brooke, Daly would ask them to start and they will have some funny line of questions which will have audience in stitches!!
Okay, now I have an answer for where I would go if I could time travel. I would go to New York City 1965 to watch Dorothy Kilgallen and friends dancing "the Watusi", and maybe join in.
Newley looks a bit like a British Gomer Pyle.

That snake lady is beautiful.
John was really long tonight. I wonder if the network cut the show off before all of the credits (or any of them) rolled?
