What's it actually about? | Civil War (2024) Review

Ойын-сауық

This film is no Children of Men, and many feel they want more from it. This review will just go over some of my general thoughts. sure, the movie's not what I expected based on the trailers, but I think what's here is still interesting...

The lack of commitment in the story really made it ring hollow. The fact that everyone pointedly refused to even state who they were. I get it, when reduced to it most basic components war is simply people trying to kill each other and not die in the process. However reducing a story to its most basic elements in an attempt to convey a basic truth feels disingenuous.

You have a great voice for reviews, earned a sub from me. I'd suggest adding chapters to your reviews, I find them pretty handy. Story summary, maybe a spoiler section, maybe cinematography, musical score and a final thoughts/conclusions with a rating from 1 to 5 Eddies or something Keep it up!

SPOILER!!!! I actually saw the film as being somewhat negative about the photo journalists. They could have been anywhere in Asia, Europe or Africa..... to them its was just about the shot - the opportunity and yeah the rush. Take the guy at the end who wanted the Presidents quote. At no time did the momentous occasion dawn on him as the U.S Prez was killed, all he wanted was a quote and was happy at what he got. The soldiers were fighting for their cause (unexplained and thats fine), he was fighting for fame.

I wouldn't say it was negative about the journalists specifically. It's a cautionary tale against normalization of extremes, which applies to pretty much everybody on the film who was portrayed as "just doing their job", no matter how bizarre and cruel the circumstances.

I haven't watched this movie, but as soon as I heard about it a while ago. I decided that I was going to watch It. And as soon as I get the chance, I am going to I really appreciate the fact that this movie is not just some action blockbuster but asking us questions about the state of the country and showing us what could be if this is what follows through.

@neowuwei7851 true, not a terrible movie, but nonetheless, it didn't make me question too much. However, I did have a good conversation with my dad about it.

Yeah the comparison to Apocalypse Now is valid. It’s a trip through a war zone without looking at the war issues itself.

The movie send a messager that war is brutal. it is unneccessary and the blood and gory assembled war movies like platoon and saving private ryan. In summary the message of this film is war creates unncessary sufferings, death, and atrocities in the world.

A Critical Review Of The Movie "CIVIL WAR" I went and saw the movie "Civil War" today. It wasn't about a civil war in America based on the current political situation, which is never mentioned or discussed. In fact, there is no politics at all in the movie. The civil war is just backdrop to the story line of the movie. Based on the skylines of the cities, it seems to take place some time in the near future, perhaps in the next ten years. Nineteen states have seceded from the union. The so called "Western Forces" of California and Texas, symbolized by the letters "WF" on their vehicles, are seen often in the movie. Can you imagine any kind of combined force between Gavin Newsome and Greg Abbott? I can't. There is also the "Florida Alliance " but it is mentioned in name only. I have no idea who they are and you are given no clues. The story centers around the adventures of a group of journalist traveling some 900 miles cross country to Washington, DC in hopes of interviewing the President before the war is over. Their job is not to react to what they see but just to take pictures of it and let others judge, or so they say. You are treated to scenes of mass murder by both sides, the execution of prisoners, the brutal treatment of looters, lots of battle damage, and plenty of chaotic battles. Journalist are hated in this day and age for promoting propaganda that supports their agendas rather than reporting the actual news, and I honestly had no empathy, sympathy, or compassion for any of them. The movie completely failed to evoke any kind of emotional response from me. Seriously. I truly believe that America is on the path to civil war and that the only way we are going to solve our current problems is by shedding the blood of those causing the problems because they will never stop otherwise. The side with the moral high ground won't start the war but they will finish it, probably just like they did in the movie. I give the movie two thumbs down.

This movie had so much potential to address the critical social issues that America faces with the far-right groups, like the Proud Boys, Boogaloo Boys, 3%ers ready for an armed uprising because they don't like who gets elected in our FAIR elections. But it fell so far short of that potential and was nothing more than a movie about a roadtrip from NYC to DC with lots of violence thrown in for good measure. The fact that CA and TX are in an alliance shows just how little the director knows about US history or culture. That is about as likely as MLK forming an alliance with Charlie Manson. I'd give it a 1 star out of 5 stars.
