    Back in 93 i took a older TV to a repair shop to get it fixed. Turned out the repair was gonna cost more than the TV was worth so the shop offered it as a trade in for another one at a decent price, so i went for it. Got to talking with the guy and he stated in less than ten years all TV's will eventually go to LCD's and CRT's will end production soon after. That guy knew the future of TV's, and it wasn't a prediction. He had insider knowledge that they had planned this decades ago.

    If the panel is properly working, that could be burn-in image retention on the screen. This is unlikely to get worse or spread to other parts of the screen. If it is an issue being caused by a malfunction in the panel or processors, then it is likely that the stain will spread or get worse.

Have you done this before and tried to power it on with that hardware removed? There are numerous parts that could have been affected by the opening of the TV and attempted insertion of the HDMI cable. If you are capable of reversing your work, that might fix it. If damage was done to one of the video circuits, then you may need to consult a TV repair shop for help isolating the issue to know if it can be repaired

    Now I know why I see bright orbs all over my screen, the problem seems to be way in the back of the chassis. • @crutchfield

    @crutchfield

    This is always a tough question as there is no cut and dry answer to it. We recommend that you first check with the TV manufacturer about the likelihood that a repair can be done and possible repair costs on your current TV. If the TV still has warranty, the we recommend getting it repaired. If not and the cost is close to the price of a new TV, then it may not be worth getting repaired.

    i know this is a year late, but should this ever happen in the future, it's something to think about. Way at the end where you saw the LEDs on the back chassis, the glue that holds the lets say plastic cap on the LEDs is often pretty poor and will fail over time. This causes bright orbs in the screen because the light isn't diffused properly anymore. An easy way to check if this is the case is to turn the TV on it's side, or upside down. If you hear what seems to be legos rolling around inside the TV, theres your problem. This can be fixed by simply adding new glue, but obviously needs to be done by someone who knows how to take a TV apart. I've had a couple of the Samsung curved tv's where this was the case, people almost threw out a 1500-2000 dollar TV because of a (....add price of a good, clear transparent contact glue lol...) dollar problem.

How about instead just saying: KZread appreciates it when we put out a disclaimer like, if you do this on your own, it is at your own risk, you take responsibility for your decisions instead of trying to find someone to blame.
