What's INSIDE $40,000 Search and Rescue Trailers

Today we get to see inside 3 Search and Rescue trailers worth $40,000 from Pennsylvania Wilderness Search And Rescue! PaWSAR covers all of Pennsylvania and have highly trained dogs that can find whatever they are searching for. They have a communications trailer, team trailer, and marine trailer. The communications trailer makes it easy for the rescuers to track where they have looked and where they need to look next. The team trailer holds their gear and first aid equipment. They use their marine rescue trailer to hold their boat, the boat is used to bring their dogs for water searching. PaWSAR's members fund their equipment and search dog training themselves, if you would like to donate or learn more about the team please visit them at pawsar.org/

It is refreshing that we have people who have a passion for Public Service without getting paid! These are Stories that a lot of the General Public never hear. Pennsylvania is very fortunate to have such a professional Organization that will help assist whenever they are called. Amazing that they fund most of this out of their own pocket. The Dogs 🐕 are very Impressive as well. Thanks for this video Mike. I always learn something new when I view your videos‼️

Just out of genuine curiosity, would you feel differently about a team doing this not as a volunteer service (ie. privately paid search and rescue, evacuation, etc. services). I really am just curious about the rise of these paid (usually a retainer fee) specialty emergency services and how people feel about them.

This is pretty cool stuff! I saw these guys have the handheld GPS units to see their tracks, but with their Digital MotoTRBO radios, they could set up a system where their radios would transmit GPS back to a laptop in their CP over a data channel on the handheld radio.

Now that we are more heavily using the Digital radios, APRS is a possibility, but we are also heavily using SARTopo now, and send tracks directly back to command real time.

I appreciate the behind the scenes. Have you thought of using the tier instead of the price in the titles? You can always mention it as part of the interview. Big money figures may attract views, but it gives the initial impression that services swim in cash, when in reality they depend on volunteers donating time and money. Thanks to you an all the first responders for their dedication.

We will take this under consideration and see how it does. We are still trying to build the viewership and we do understand what you mean. The impression that you got is NOT the intension for sure, but learning how much things do cost can be shocking from both a high/low perspective.

One thing I didn't see and might have missed was a mast for the repeater antenna. Antenna height will always be better than increased power output, though it also helps to have more TX power when needed.

@@HeroesNextDoor here typically search and rescues are governed by the police and typically don't start operational things after the 1st 24 hours sometimes they might start early though very seldom in this case.. our version here is 000 and it typically fire ambo and police for S&R to take place the call from the police to the SES or other rescue orgs to start searches

Issue generally come from not knowing who we are or that the resources exist. We cover 7 counties primary, with mutual aid to 13. We are working diligently to be written into every station and police stations SOGs (standard operating guidelines).
